Oh then the psa at end of the video must have hurt you as much as it hurt me But as long as ellen and luke are good and mental health wise good then thats more important
@@khamjaninja.I'd say they still do that as well every so often, and as long as I've followed the channel there's always been a mix of lists, gameplay (mostly streamed), journalism, and silly goofs. Curious - I've been here since early pandemic, did they do more journalisty stuff before that?
@@yourfriendlyinternetmeatshieldLuke is married and has a baby. Ellen isn't. Also there was never a thing between them. It was just the viewers shipping them.
The first thing I thought when Luke said the name was that "Root n go" sounded like Australian slang for a one night stand. When the van started rocking I realised that hadn't been such a leap.
We always know we're in for a treat when the description starts with "We're normal adult people doing normal adult things" and this episode didn't disappoint.
And with "well, not anticlimactic" this cements its status as the dirtiest OXtra video ever. I wonder if they'll dare put this in the best of 2023 video. And thank you, guys, for making more TotK content, though I'm glad you've been enjoying it privately without content-making stresses
13:10 - *close up on the van rocking back and forth* Suggested video title appears in the corner: 7 Surprisigly Distressing Moments in Mario Games. Well played, Oxtra; well played.
Ellen applying that little white line of eyeliner to bring out her hair will always be appealing to me, even more so seeing as her hair scrunchie matches it too
It's just as good next door in New Zealand, too. Not sure if they even sell this game in Australasia, or if they had the foresight to change its name for the local market.
12:50 / 14:24 - You know... combined with all the Australians down in the comment section expressing their raised eyebrows at the title, who would've guessed a video about a toy based around the Super Mario Bros movie would get this bawdy.
It's going to be sad not having show of the weekend for a couple of weeks because this is absolutely hilarious content all the time, but it's understandable about the hiatus. Can't wait to see what the next one will be XD
Only the second video I’ve watched of you guys. Laughed through the entirety on this one! Great stuff! Where have you been?! I’m a forty-something rekindling my love of video games the last two years or so. And yes, it’s because of the Switch.. Please keep it up and I look forward to following the channel! :)
Loving all the aussies in the comments laughing at the title double meaning 😂 Edit: think luke and ellen heard us all with the “climactic” ending bit 🤣🤣
Ellen's competitiveness shining through that she sets up the board so that Luke has almost no time to think or act before going off the edge. Luke waits before passing turn and that gives maximum time to Ellen before it would go off the edge. But also Luke is the one who specifically wanted it to be head to head competitive, hsddedt layout and fast mode 😂
Loved this 😂🤣😂🤣 Especially the innuendos and the car getting stuck. Was anyone else who has a vector robot reminded of him because of the way the car moved ? 🤔
Did anyone else notice they're playing it backward? I think it was supposed to be Luke moves 3 tiles, then starts the car forward. Ellen has to move her tiles as the car goes forward, then she hits it to make it go backward. That way you have to build your route while the car is doing the opponent's route.
Reminds me of the "A-Maze-Ing Labyrinth" board game I had. DESCRIPTION The Moving Maze Game...It's Magic! The board is covered with fixed tiles, leaving rows and columns filled by more tiles which can then slide in either direction. The tiles are marked with the walls of the labyrinth, making passages and junctions and the players have one spare tile which they push in from some point, forcing another tile out. This shifts all the tiles in that line, changing the passages in the labyrinth. Each player has a set of cards showing fantastical things, ghosts, witches, creatures, treasures, and the same symbols are all across the tiles. The player draws their first card and moves their marker freely through the labyrinth. When they reach their target, they place their card to the side and draw the next. Having reached all your goals, return to your start to win.
Now we just need Immediate Media (not a sponsor but it just seems fair) to publish the Official Mario Bros magazine for Show of the Weekend to reach its final form
Oh no watching the van move is like a visual nightmare version of pipemania or the bioshock hacks 😅 The little car should be painted like the scoobyvan ♡ Edit looking forward to the zelda stuff as I still haven't gotten my hands on a copy of the game 😅
Just a suggestion maybe for your next show of the weekend if this summer you guys could play Tchia as its a cute summer game where you can play as anything in the game.
Saturday morning kids show for adults. I can’t start my weekend without these two!
Reminds me of misspent youth😂
Oh then the psa at end of the video must have hurt you as much as it hurt me

If this van's a rockin'... it's-a me! MaRiO!
Nothing better in the morning than waking up to these two doing some weird stuff.
And Mario doing weird stuff in a van
Nothing weird here, they are normal adults doing normal adult things... Lol.
Everything sounds worse when you put “with a van” at the end.

Yes
Just normal adults doing normal adult things
We're just normal men
Very normal adults. 😊
@@Terencefergusonjust innocent men
I feel like this could be referencing either Ellen and Luke or Mario and Luigi.
I just figured it out. Luke gets these for the show because he can write them off as a work expense, and then he takes them home for his own child.
Yes, "for his own child". Let's leave it at that.
Are they married? Like I feel like thats a thing but I could be wrong

It's great being an adult and watching my favourite Saturday morning grown-up kids show.
Yes, nothing like being a normal adult man, watching a normal adult show in the morning.
That is such a perfect description of SotW. 10/10.
Ellen's face at 2:04 is amazing. The sheer horror at the size of the instruction sheet

As an Aussie, the term root n go has a slightly different meaning...
Yes, I wondered about that 😂
🤣🤣🤣
the wee van be rootin n tootin (completely innocently)
That is a weird way to say it.
I mean, considering how that van is rocking, I think it's a perfectly accurate meaning
Love how the tone of the intro to Show of the Weekend has steadily become more and more aggressively unhinged over the years
It has become whatever toy Luke brings in the office that morning
Show of the weekend is everyone's new "Saturday morning cartoons" no weekend is complete without Luke and Ellen
Ellen applying that little white line of eyeliner to bring out her hair will always be appealing to me, even more so seeing as her hair scrunchie matches it too
I really want to hear how the Australian viewers feel about this new catchphrase 😂
Like whoever made this has never been here
exactly what I was gonna say, super different meaning here. this is unintentionally hilarious considering it's Mario and Peach 😂😂😂
I lost it at finding out they have to say the catchphrase EVERY TIME
Giggling throughout, followed by absolutely losing it... when root'n'go reached the climax...
It's just as good next door in New Zealand, too. Not sure if they even sell this game in Australasia, or if they had the foresight to change its name for the local market.
The car getting caught in a circle was hilarious. It's like getting trapped in a roundabout.
Look, kids! Big Ben! Parliament!
When Mario's van is rocking: "Here we go! here we go! Here we gooooo!"
If the van's a-rocking, that's Original Super Mario Brothers Movie action. Drunk John Leguizamo behind the wheel.
Nah bruh is Bob Hoskins 😂
Counter proposal: While you two are off in Hyrule, leave the purple sofa and a Pokémon magazine in the capable hands of Jane and Mike.
This game is simply too rude to receive classification in Australia.
The title is the instructions for a one night stand.
That's exactly what I thought! 😂
I'm so glad I read this comment before I started the video because I was wheezing through the whole thing 😂
Ellen's laughter could power the entire Monster Inc universe.
Ian would be proud of the climactic ending! 😂😂
Always special to watch a Show of the Weekend that you *know* will be in the Presh Mems
i don't know how they found this game but i enjoyed watching them play it. what will be the next weird game, will there be a Garfield one
The question on *everyone's* mind!
I didn't know I would laugh THIS hard at a sliding car game, but here we are! Can't wait to see the Hyrule episodes!
ellen's logical planning and luke's spray-and-pray ADHD style are like a fine wine/cheese pairing 😂
0:30 That awkward silence after luke asked "do you like sliding?" 💀
Was anyone else thinking of that Caravan Club episode from The Inbetweeners?
