Fun fact: Steve and Arthur is my dad and granddad respectively, it’s not their real names but it is their likeness. Pretty sure they’re in there because my dad worked on the game.
I hope that's true. If so, your grandad is a legend. Me and friends used to love this game and it was mostly because of Arthur (as well as Barry and Lucinda).

Cue, me, an American millennial sent back in time when I’d hear “you are the weakest link, goodbye” in a terrible English accent as a sick burn on the playground.
Just to let you guys know, easy mode makes it so you can see the full answers from the very beginning, which is the ideal way to play for future formatting. And as someone who has spent far too much time watching streamers play The Weakest Link PS1, you have got to play this again. It's just so utterly fantastic.

There was also a Finnish version of the Weakest Link (the tv show), called Heikoin Lenkki. This name is amusing because "lenkki" can also be translated as "sausage".
In English, sausages are sometimes called 'links' too, but usually only when they're still linked together.
I think there was also a polish version of it.
@@Amaritudine I think the Finnish use is then a bit broader, comparatively. I doubt most people these days pay attention to whether or not their lenkkis are still linked or not.
"Lenkki" has a bunch of other meanings too, most of which I'd probably be more inclined to translate as "loop" rather than "link".

While I loved the full old formats of the Shows of the Week and Weekend, I like the current lineup of stuff you guys do and would rather you do what you want and not get burned out. I do sorely miss the "In the comments" sections though.

Absolutely mad that "normal" difficulty reduces all answers to just initials. How is that not labelled "hard"?
I'm guessing hard mode just gives you the first letter of the first answer then.
The original wasn't multiple choice (I think...?) so this is a way for you to answer quickly if you know it, without giving any clues until some time has passed. I thought it was pretty smart!

The animal that we know as moose is called "elk" in Europe (I think its scientific name is Alces alces, which is presumably related). The animal that we call elk (or wapiti, if you're feeling feisty) is closely related to the Eurasian "red deer" -- they used to be considered the same species, although I don't think that's the case anymore

Me remembering watching The Weakest Link: People voted off the person best at the quiz so the smartie wouldn't win the money only to find that no-one got any money because there was no-one smart enough left to answer questions.
Nah. They only vote off the stronger players in the last round or two to get rid of their competition.
Definitely remember the weak ones getting voted off early on. And despite the announcer pointing it out nobody ever seemed to care about timely use of bank.

Y'all have made my morning. Going back to "The Weakest Link" with Anne Robinson - oh my. I had no idea there was such sass when it was time to vote off someone. Watching the reactions has made me laugh for the 2nd day consecutively at OxTra videos. (Have to catch up on yesterday's livestream video.) Congrats Ellen!

Weakest Link in the US was a weekly prime time show hosted by Anne Robinson, then a daily daytime show hosted by George Gray, and most recently rebooted in 2021 starring Jane Lynch.
