At first I thought this was going to be some sort of Mario-themed Jenga. Then I realised it was quite different. Then I realised it was Mario-themed Jenga. Either way, a good concept, looks fun! I think Ellen's mistake with the first Yoshi was putting him on the opposite side to the tower's lean, meaning more movement; you both figured out quickly that you want to put the pieces on the lower side after that!
The reaction at 15:35, especially Ellen's, was just indescribably delightful. I think I'll have to find this game to share the stress among my loved ones. Hilarious!
can't help but wonder, if this just more proof this is daycare for grown ups with Producer Jon looking after the children interesting to see the difference between normal and hard mode in this game
New rule: The ball must not fall for 3 seconds after you place your piece. If it falls after that it is now the next players turn and it counts as them having lost.
I love these filler episodes, I really like them talking about games but their chemistry is so good watching them just mess about it extremely entertaining
One bit of strategy might be to try and place your piece as much off the platform as you can manage it, so that if it falls off when the tower tips on your opponent's turn it may destabilize the tower. And if not, they still have to put it back as well. Could be particularly effective if there's a good opportunity to do that with Yoshi on an upper platform.
We did a game called blindfold Jenga at a works Christmas party last year and it’s people playing jenga in teams, but the person moving the jenga pieces is blindfolded and the other player directs them. It might be too wild for shaky tower though!
I like how Luke just lets go of the pieces and lets fate take the wheel while Elen is much more invested in winning so she holds onto the piece as long as possible.
The intensity and competitive behavior makes me laugh every time. Also, loving the hair, Ellen! I just talked to my stylist about purple because you’ve made me miss my purple phase from college. ❤
If you roll a 2, can't you place two characters on opposite sides simultaneously to decrease the amount of imbalance you're adding? I do that in Menara sometimes. That's another balance board game, only it's cooperative instead of competitive. The boards have specific spots you can place matching pillars on them, and on your turn you usually have to place 1-4 pillars based on cards you draw. When you finish a board, you have to place another board on top of pillars that've been placed... So sometimes placing one pillar on a board would topple it, but two at once on opposite sides will balance each other out nicely and allow the game to continue.
There's already Fate, in which the dice are marked minus, blank and plus. The D20 in D&D is effectively a distribution like that as well, just with four parts to it and a shifting middle: critical failure, failure, success, critical success. You could get custom d20 that go 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8 if you wanted, and use them for something. You could also modify D&D with "Good" and "Bad" dice, where the 2 becomes another 20 or the 19 becomes another 1.
I love in the toy videos, how Luke is always at kid-at-Christmas levels of excitement and Ellen plays the my-younger-brother-has-no-one-else-to-play-with role
@@totz_the_plaid9625 You think so? I'm starting the timer as soon as they roll; they have to choose and pick up a piece, place it, and release. Just the notion of a timer would also make them fumble, I bet. But ten was just a guess. Maybe it could start at 15 and get one second less each time. If they don't place the piece in time, they have to have another turn.
2:13 *Luke:* You've done it exactly right, Ellen. Which means you get to do all the rest! Lucky you. Luke displaying big "Uncle roped unwillingly into playing children's board game with his niece" energy there.

Homebrew rule: assign point values to characters, the heavier ones being worth more points. Putting or removing that character gives you those points. The one with most points when the ball drops wins. It adds a layer of strategy. Maybe assign a negative point value to causing the ball to drop to discourage intentional game ends. Or maybe not. Proper balancing is required. ;)
