I'm trying like hell to learn to play these types of games. I'm a complete noob and i've had this game downloaded for years but i'm watching your vids to learn hopefully.
For reals ive player a whole weekend and just relize the depth and that i need to learn how to play wizzard and priest because ive never played a game like this where you have to manage your whole group, I only know how to play warrior types
Dang they made some of the Godlike more surreal then I had expected. I'm absolutely hot for the Druid, as with every game sporting one, but Chanter and Cypher definitely intrigue me. Still, a good ol' Paladin or Rogue is always tempting. I bet I'll be spending several hours in the character creation screen weighing every bit of class, stat and looks xD
Starting a new game for the first time this week, I'm digging the Barbarian, Fighter, Ranger and Cypher as a pre sci-fi group of Jedi with just the Cypher having a better understanding of the Force. Game looks so cool, can't wait to get playing!!! 😄
Bought this last night. Just spent 15 mins watching a character creation guide on path of exile before realising I was looking at the wrong game. Oops.
Nice guide, in RPGs I play always with the same kind of character but in this game, or Wasteland 2, is advisable to know well all the classes to have a mixed group.
I realize I'm really late to the party, but no one seems to have helped your pronunciation on Aumaua, so I'd like to. It's supposed to be based on Polynesian languages, and is even quite similar to important words in some (for example, "aumakua," in Hawai'ian). "Ah-oo-mah-oo-ah" said quite quickly is generally how you should do it. In Hawai'ian we separate our words through syllables and syllable pairs, similar to the Japanese. Au-mau-ua. Another potential way to spell it out phonetically would be "ow-mow-wah." I hope this helps a bit. And again, I realize just how late to the party I am. I wouldn't be surprised if someone helped you out further down the playlist or if you just got it further down the playlist.
18:20, My immediate thought from the limited information I have available is that you make one of those little ferrety creatures with high Dex into a dual-wield cypher and build up focus really fast.
Loalrikowki but the effects of your chants and spell-like thingies won't scale properly that way, plus you will be even more squishy than your average class member if you don't spend some points on Resolve, Constitution or Perception. Granted, you will be able to annoy your opponents to no end with all those interrupts. Good for PvP, if this game will ever end up having one.
In case you haven't heard already, the original creator of Genso Suikoden has launched a new project called Eiyuden Chronicle, a true spiritual successor to the series. It's a jrpg with world-building elements that boasts over 100 characters and includes strategic battles and a cafeteria feature. The Kickstarter campaign is in its final week and it really needs a strong push for it to reach its stretch goals. So far they have been very transparent with the funders by doing AMA sessions and weekly updates. In addition, Gematsu has some impressive footage on their YT channel and this project has been endorsed by big names like Warren Spector(Deus Ex series) and Obsidian Entertainment (Pillars of Eternity and Outer Worlds). Please tweet out the Kickstarter page if you like what you see and hear about it. Thanks!
Infinity engine was by Bioware. So were BG, then they developed engines for NWN (also used in Witcher) & KOTOR. Obsidian are some ex-Black Isle guys, they had nothing to do with Baldur's Gate, just Icewind Dale games, Fallout 1/2 and Planescape: Torment, Obsidian itself made NWN2 and KOTOR 2.
All the talk about what each race gets a bonus to and not only really comes into play when you actually want to max out a stat. Else all of them have a +2 you can asign whereever you want (if needed by lowering the stat they got their actual bonus in). This is a bit of the downside by them takeing the route of continous rewards for increasing and lowering stats. So for characters that don't min-max the ability of the subrace is usually more important than the stats. And with those you missed how open they left their effects sometimes. I.e. one can notice that wood elf wizards also get bonus for their spells to hit on distance. Small error on the focus though it is linked to the damage done. So useing a slow weapon can work too (esspecially one of those you can use by standing right behind someone else like the pike). I really had a hard time to find a good build for a melee cipher after the changes made to the stats. Bow cipher has it easy by comparision since they can sacrefice some defensive abilities to get better stats where they need them.
That Chanter class looks like one could use it for a very good reference, for the Shin Megami Tensai version of Alice. Blonde little girl that sings about death and has the most powerful death elemntal magic. It would be hella fun. :D
Thanks for awesome videos! I'm glad you are aware of not giving out spoilers - I've been watching a few let's play vids or tutorial vids and they are not so kind haha. Thanks though. Love watching these because it helps this poor college kid choose what he spends his money on hahaha. Keep up the great work, bro!
Just bought this game and thought I would look for some tips while it downloads, and holy shit 50 min class creation vid? this game gunna be like that ?
I've played Dungeon Siege. Not sure if that counts. Also i appreciate these guides because i'm playing as a Death Godlike Cipher and im trying to figure out how to properly use the combat mechanics because i can't even kill a pack of wolves lmao.
+Destry Soule Chanters are nice class, but they're kind of boring. You get a character who joins your group who is a Chanter, and there is really no reason for 2 in the group. Each to his own.
Excellent videos on classes and game mechanics. Really makes one appreciate all the workings under the hood. Thanks for the delicious level of detail. Happy gaming!
Here's my list of races and classes Male Wood Elf Fighter Female Meadow Human Ranger Male Mountain Dwarf Paladin Female Pale Elf Wizard Male Orlan Rogue Male Auamua Barbarian
Hey! Want to say I really like your voice. Through English is a foreign language to me and you speak kinda too fast for me, I can almost totally understand you. Thank you for your videos!
this game is awsome, graphics are great,in fact i would say the graphics would be on par with skyrealm. its not all that open world like morrowind but it gives you enough to work with in that area, themusic is great, so far i like the ranger.
I think Godlikes can be any of the other types of races. After choosing the Godlike, you can choose a different race, like Moon Godlike Elf or Death Godlike Dwarf. Can anyone confirm that? I think Quill was defaulting to a Godlike Human in his examples at the end.
NOOOOOOO!!!! I bought the game.. I already massively spoiled myself this paycheck. Oh god.. my little wallety :'( At least I'll have POE to console me >:D
I'm thinking about buying it, though I'm wondering. Looks complex and all, but is it comparable to, for example, Neverwinter Nights in terms of possible character builds? Could I base my character around standard DPS, focus strictly on Critcal Hits, Sneak Attacks or make a gimmick that resolves around unconventional or bullshit tactics? From the video, it looks like I could, but wanna make sure.
The dwarf would make a good tank, but I think it's ridiculous to have another weapon slot when the characters are unable to change during combat automatically
hey im trying to figure out if i can play this on my computer. the "can u run it" site says otherwise but id like to get more opinions. apparently i have an out of date driver, not nearly enough dedicated ram and not the right cpu (best i can tell i have .20 gigahz less than mimumum). would the game just not work or run poorly? my computer can play stardew valley and lol but with i do have the min and stardew valley has only half the ded RAM required compared to this game.
i uset some time making diffrent characters cipher druid wizard rogue barbarian , i ended up making a Barbarian Nature God like dwarf body size , the only stat i made high is Dex its on 16

well, i do have some confidence in obsidian, even games they mess up by an early unpolished release (like knights of the old republic 2) end up to be great games.
I will try to gimp myself with a weird character combo, but then try to maximize its strengths. Like a wizard in full plate and sword, and always give him the best armor and weapons. We'll see how it goes.
the infinite inventory is a big selling point for me, glad they made that an option, now i have to spend less time searching for and installing possibly dangerous hacks.
Urudrim Your concerns might be reasonable. Played this game some 20 hours. Except some "boss"ish mobs, I can pretty much stomp over regular mobs on normal setting. By that I mean I just select all party and click attack on 1 mob, then the next and the next and so on and so forth. I only actually pay attention to skills and timing if in the second encounter if I died in the first one to be honest. However game has it's moments and it's worth playing.
Urudrim I like the fact that these games can go like that... Its kind of realistic. Just thinking of it like picking some incredibly stupid courses in university and then just dont do it lol
Boreal dwarves live in the south? 'Boreal' means 'North'. Did they just use the word for flavour without knowing it's meaning? Unfortunately a hallmark of pulp fantasy writing. Game still looks great though, will be buying soon.
Damn, I have the game downloaded on my PS4, watching this before I start the game for the first time. I as pretty certain I was going to pick a wizard/mage type character but then you showed the ranger and it can pick a wolf as it's companion animal. Too tempting to make a Turkic Nomadic Archer with wolf companion named Asena xD. Then you showed the wizard and it sounds like the most fun wizard to play in any such game (e.g. in baldurs gate wizards are super weak early oncan use their spells a limited amount, only 4 spells or so, before having to rest) It's going to be hard picking between a ranger and a wizard :/ .. I usually play such games as mages or a warrior mage, but I want that fucking wolf
3choBlast3r it is the same here with the having to rest after having cast a limited amount of spells. The Chanter and Cipher Works a different way tho.
In retrospect, even though I already knew the racials for the godlikes, I chose death when playing a monk which is the worst combo you can get there. It's nice doing extra damage when a boss is at low life, but when the class is focused around getting hurt it's nice to have the bonus.
I am asking for some help/info on game controls (action bars, mouse and keyboard functions). My situation is, I have played WOW pretty much exclusively for 8 yrs. I have gotten to use to the game controls. I am looking for a game that has controls exactly or very similar to the wow controls. Also I would love a game that has the three trees that wow use to have. Any sincere replies would be greatly appreciated. I have tried: Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls online, Final Fantasy and Rift, Star Wars, Aion and a few others... I am currently playing a completely different game called Evlove. I hate learning curves.
A shame that in neither of these videos you explained exactly how you enchant items (how rare are the materials, how many enchants can you put, etc), Overall decent information, but I would avoid repeating myself (around 10-15 minutes of this video is rehashing stuff that you said in the previous one) That being said, thanks for always making awesome content, Quill!
just got it (FREE@EpicGames Dec.2020) HUGE THX TO THEM!!! Its so different from D&D am used to but like the combat so gotta know how to build a perfect toon for me :D
Doesnt being able to only cast X amount of spells per day make spell casters kinda suck? Chances are your going to blow through your spells in the first few fights of the day then be stuck using only your staff/bow/sword for the rest.
XelNigma The wizard also has a twice per battle generic aoe spell. Also, they fire zaps out of their wand. If you give them a high might (one of their high rec stats) their damage should be good regardless of what they are using.
They have very powerful single target powers for damage, debuffs and even mind control. And they have to deal weapon damage in order to keep on using them.
I kinda wish they had trimmed up the classes a bit. Maybe like 7 or 8 instead of fucking 11; having a hard time getting into this with all the complexity.
I'm trying like hell to learn to play these types of games. I'm a complete noob and i've had this game downloaded for years but i'm watching your vids to learn hopefully.
Same here lol
Let’s Go Now Me, too. This has to be one of the most noob-unfriendly games I’ve tried!
Same. Had it installed since release, didnt know what i was doing. Gonna take a serious approach to it now.
@@JosieJOK reminds me of when i played morrowind for the first time, back when i never could imsgine what an open world rpg was
I got this game since release and I'm still figuring out how to play it XD
I’ll go and watch your previous video because I just discovered this game 4 years to late and want to know some good tactics.
Lola Blake same!
@@Itsachapel and me :)
Me too :)
For reals ive player a whole weekend and just relize the depth and that i need to learn how to play wizzard and priest because ive never played a game like this where you have to manage your whole group, I only know how to play warrior types
And PoE 2 bro different but definitely really good CRPG
Wow, I love the customization! Class, sub classes, race, sub races, and culture. Great having that level of customization.
Each Godlike also picks a base race as well, so you can have a moon godlike elf or a fire godlike dwarf and etc..
god
i love baldurs gate
"You can change them pretty dratically." -Quill18
For when you can't decide between Dramatically and Drastically. *thumbsup*
That is the worst spelling I've ever seen.
Dang they made some of the Godlike more surreal then I had expected. I'm absolutely hot for the Druid, as with every game sporting one, but Chanter and Cypher definitely intrigue me. Cypher's cool!
This is so helpful. I remember playing this game and not knowing anything. I definitely understand how the chanter works now.
Bought this last night. Just spent 15 mins watching a character creation guide on path of exile before realising I was looking at the wrong game.

Doooooooooesn’t matter.
Interesting!
There's deffinitely spoken dialogue in the game that says the word
Same with the Boreal is pronounced bow-re-al rather than bo-real
So they used that variant bard. It's nice that I'm not the only one who liked that spell casting form.
Thanks for the info my man, I finally picked this game up and CRPGs aren't my biggest genre so games like this can be really daunting
18:20, My immediate thought from the limited information I have available is that you make one of those little ferrety creatures with high Dex into a dual-wield cypher and build up focus really fast.

Thank you so much for doing this been trying to get into pillars for years and thanks to your video now I have
I like how they add the suffix (Very Low - Very High). It makes meaningless numbers meaningful.

The Chanter reminds me of the Parshendi O_o Sounds cool :D

I am thinking about buying this game after playing tyranny.
Very helpful. Shed light on a lot of things I wasn't aware of. Thanks!
out of all the classes fighter and chanter seem to be the strongest from what i see monk and druid seem to be really good to

Boreal dwarves live in the south? 'Boreal' means 'North'.
Did they just use the word for flavour without knowing it's meaning?
Unfortunately a hallmark of pulp fantasy writing.
Game still looks great though, will be buying soon.
***** It's a type of Climate, which for us on Earth happens to be North.
We have a pole on south, I don't have the information but wouldn't it be possible to happen there? hm
Totally will be making a female Aumaua Barbarian as my first character.
thank you
Damn, I have the game downloaded on my PS4, watching this before I start the game for the first time. Then you showed the wizard and it sounds like the most fun wizard to play in any such game (e.g. in baldurs gate wizards are super weak early oncan use their spells a limited amount, only 4 spells or so, before having to rest)

wow thank you... you really help out people who can't read... eh... :C
Chanter sort of reminds me of Hunter Horns from Monster Hunter.
Im tempted to make a party of Godlikes xD
The death godlike faces look like the crew from pirates of the Caribbean 2
Paladin or Druid seem awesome
very cool classes
Sooo... Godlikes are basically elementals?
I guess i should watch this one now that i can't follow the main videos as i don't want to get spoiled too much :)

This is a real RPG not at all in anyway like an MMO
I’m about to be all over rolling every godlike character when I buy this game
can you change their personal appearance, like hair style and color?
Yes, but the hair/color choices aren't many and you choose from a list.
