The Hague is one of the best places I've ever been to. Could EASILY live there.
Yeah it's awesome! What was your favorite part?
Lived in Den Haag 1977-82
I lived there from 2009-2019. One of my former occupations is tram and randstadrail driver.
as an american high schooler who is living here now, i recommend it. highly. it's beautiful and perfect for families and it's such a big city and it's next to the sea. just perfect.
We loved it too. Glad you are enjoying it.
As always absolutely packed with info! I find The Hague a really interesting place and would love to visit so this was great to watch. Thanks guys! - Thomas 😀
+Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel thanks Thomas! Love the encouragement. We do try to give good info.
I am born and raised in The Hague, so I can call myself Hagenees. When I was 23 years old I moved to Apeldoorn, it is in the middle of the country. The Veluwe is beautifull, but I really miss the sea sometimes. The Netherlands is a great place to live in, to bad we can not control the weather.
The Dutch know how to live and Den Haag is right in the center of that good living!!
You guys are great... nicely done.
Lived in Den Haag 1977-81. Lovely City with seriously friendly locals and the nightlife was excellent.
Your video about Den Haag was the best I’ve seen so far! You really manages to catch the atmosphere of the city. It’s one of my favorite cities in the Netherlands and it will be my home (again) soon! Looking forward to it!
Ik woon in den haag en ik vind het PRACHTIG! (I live in the hague and its BEAUTIFAL!
I think I am going to replicate your day on my solo trip next Thursday!!!
This is the City I am born and worked . The Escher Museum was Palace LANGE vOORHOUT. I lived there from 1947 til 1974
I use that same water bottle. Den Haag is amazing, and you do a great job presenting it.
I was born and raised in The Hague, lived and worked allover the word world . but this city is always where my heart is
Where are you know? I lived 8n 5he Hague 1995/ 1997, still my favourite place
@@patrickglennon6834 I live in Canada , have been for the last 50 years , but I still visit The Hague as often as i can
@@leendersc Dublin born now in Florida, I will retire in 4 years to the Hague, I visit every year, stay in a hotel " ibis" neare grote markt, fc den haag #1
The Hague was actually granted city rights during the Napoleonic period. But it is true that smaller towns had the city status. Which is still strange as The Hague used to be the seat of the Counts of Holland.
It didn't get the right specifically because it was the seat of 'De staten Generaal' (a rudimentary parliament) if it was granted city rights it would get a seat in the parliament it hosted. Which would have made it more influencial than even Amsterdam. The rest of the 'Staten Generaal' was simply dead set against it.
This is my home!! I live (and grew up) in The Hague! It was so much fun to see you all walk around the streets and places I know and love :) Funny to see you visit Scheveningen (the beach) as well! I hope you all had a good time having a look around not just here, but in the rest of the netherlands as well :D
Hi, which software you use for video editing.
I live in the Netherlands, but thanks to your videos I learn facts about my country that I never knew! haha, thanks for that. Loving your videos and the fact that you are living your dream.
Hi could you give me an estimate of the budget for around 7 days economic stay at the hague?
He had a house at Lange Voorhout number 92. To his great joy, the sweet tooth came to live above the shop of sugar baker Van Haaren & Nieuwerkerk. During a conversation Hop talked about his love for sweets and coffee and that's how they developed the hop together.
Congratulations of your 500th video on youtube ;)
hello. i was wondering if you can refer the tour guide?
We lived so close to The Hague but only ever went to one of the beaches near it. Looks like a cool cit- I mean village 😜
:p Good catch! Yeah it is really neat there! You would have liked it for sure.
WΔY ΔWΔY Yeah I love seaside towns 😊
Very nice vid guys! Nice to see my village in a different way. Keep it up!
Village?
Its a city
Explanation at 1:02
i stayed here for 45 days, it was awesome experience for me.
Yes, if the rest of the Netherlands calls it stormy weather, we call it a bit windy ;-)
And yes, the sunsets are often spectacular.
In the Hague it's always windy. That was one of the first things I've noticed when moving there.
Which month were you there in?
Great video! The Hague is now on my list :)
You both show so much excitement...makes me wanna pack and get on the plane. Would be a dream to meet guys.
Hello I live in RUS and love to watch your travels, I also visited The Hague last year
I had so much fun with thus vblog. It was awesome.
This was such a relaxing city guide video, your choice of music is always spot on ! Amsterdam and the Hague are now on my list of places to visit in 2018, thanks to you guys ! :)
+ghanwin woohoo! I'm so glad! And thank you. :)
Rotterdam or Utrecht is better to visit then Amsterdam. I’m only going there for my weed and hash
You got to jump over Chinese people when you get in Amsterdam. You’ll feel like super mario
I loved the parts with Escher museum, I really love his art style! Definitely added to my bucketlist 😁 I wonder if the museum has a good shop with stuff representing his art?
Yep! There was a shop there too! I didn't look around too much because we were in a hurry, but there were at least post cards and books. Probably prints too.
Nice vid guys!
It´s lovely!!!
You two are becoming so sophisticated!
+Gayle Arnold ☺️ oh pshaw
You guys just keep going from strength to strength.
+Karen Raynor 🤗 thanks!
Love it food look good and Hague look lovely thanks have good week and weekend
+Stephen Lawrence thanks Stephen!
+Stephen Lawrence thanks Stephen!
The namesake is Baron Hendrik Hop. The baron loved coffee and sweets very much. In 1794 the baron moved from Brussels to The Hague at the age of 71.
I really like the part about the restaurant that focuses on using food that others would throw away for silly reasons, it's nice that you brought awareness about food waste :)
I've recently been to Denhaag and Scheveningen and they're my favorite places in the Netherlands so far (I do live in the Netherlands tho)
ima be moving to deen hag next year and im rlly curious lol
The city i was born in raised
+Nigel ah that sounds wonderful!
grrrreat video work, so entertaining. I always liked The Hague because it is a place name with THE in it... and I love M.C. Escher ever since his work was featured in my geography book in high school. Plus a ferris wheel? What could be better! I think this is my favorite of all videos I have watched of yours, so far...thanks! And Josh I am starting to picture you as a commentator or newscaster...your delivery is becoming SO smooth! PS I got my 3rd post card, thanks! travel safely!
Haha. It is sort of funny how it's name is THE- I didn't think of that before. And yeah Escher was pretty awesome. And lol, I do try to talk clearly and concisely so it probably comes out as a commentator.
it's a talent, honey...think Anderson Cooper...for when Ashley decides to light someplace...you guys are gonna have to translate your skills into more traditional jobs! Here is an idea, how about a video about European fashion? I saw some cool things in the flashes of shop windows you passed...you guys are a pretty natty couple, give us your perspective!
+mithaweed ah they could be a fun video, would be so hard to be all encompassing though.
The Hague is the English name for Den Haag. But Den Haag is not de original name of the place. Actually the name is 's Gravenhage, literally 'hedge of the count' or 'count's hedge'. Den Haag actually is a shortened name, for it's literally translated as 'the hedge'.
Same thing goes for the city of 's Hertogenbosch, which translates to 'forest of the duke'. This place is often called Den Bosch, what's only 'the forest'.
Usually I skip by part when it comes to 20 minutes vlog but I just can't do that on your channel. You guys are so good and the editing too
By the way is Laura American?
Yes. I believe they said they all met in Los Angeles.
+Nehal Mahmud Khan 😊 thanks! We do try to keep it fully entertaining the whole time. Some videos are longer than others but only because they need to be! :)
grantcivyt yes I remember that as well but not necessarily she has to be American to live in Los Angeles
WΔY ΔWΔY it is worth it. I really like your videos
Despite the lack sunshine out there these videos never fail to brighten anyone's day. Always appreciate the history. Too bad food rescues aren't done in more places. And the architecture! That country might be on my bucket list , if I had a bucket lol.
+scott a haha, your comments are almost proms each time! I love it. Glad you enjoyed, we always try to put a little bit of everything in there. /J
*poems
You need to visite Spakenburg on the 1e saterday of September it's then fishery day.
Very nice video. Regards from a local! ;-)
So glad you went on the wheel since you didn't go one the one in Liverpool last year! I did even offer to send you the $$ to ride it.
great video. i have to say, as a ducthman, i didnt even knew half of the history haha. love her enthousiasm bye the way... us europeans can learn from that, although sometimes usa people overkill the enthousiasm part, but still its entertaining and fun to watch. keep up the good job
Ustedes son chidos 👍🏼
The Hague is officially called 's-Gravenhage. The count ( Graaf) of Holland Floris V wanted a place to hunt ( die Hage) and so in 1215 The Hague was born. Het binnenhof is the place were it all started...
Editting is also awesome just like you both dear
:) Thaaanks as always!
Are you going back anytime to ‘s-Gravenhage?
Have lived in Den Haag, very photogenic city/ nice skyscrapers/ interesting, but for my preference - way too stressful and tense. I moved away to Amsterdam and found it much better. Much much more calm, quiet, easy, simple...and these are just 2 cities..
Oh thats funny, we had someone people say the opposite! Haha.
Ad Ad Amsterdam quiet? Lol it’s the most populated city and the most tourists hahah
Bullshit
What? Amsterdam is jampacked!
Haha. Where did you live exactly? What areas (in both cities)? Most of the Hague is rather quiet, but the centre of Amsterdam is 24/7 rush hour in summer!
The Palace Noordeinde is his working palace there is an other palace where the Royals live. Thats Palace Huis den Bosch..
WOW☺️☺️☺️
+Terri Beck 🤗
Groetjes uit den haag.. 💚💚💚💚💚💛💛💛💛💛🖖
That coffee candy? Is interesting
Haagse hopjes is what they're called
Love from scheveningen
how is the rescue food
+ayman ala c'est parfait! 👌
You missed some good places. When you visit next time try some Gin Tonic Cocktails @ 'de kleine prins' and a good cocktail @ Vavoom which is on Grote Markt square. You need to visit Grote Markt square!
100,7707+
Dig the jazz bro
If you like water and beach you should also visit the Wadden Islands (UNESCO World Heritage) or Friesland in the north of the Netherlands 😉🤗
Scheveningen is veel beter dan Friesland drukker en meer te doen
I want to meet THE FRIEND! 😊
Try being on that beach when the weather is tropical.....then it's a second Malibu.
Just watched. thank you for sharing! it feels like im joining with u to The Hague. So great!
Cheers from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Ik hou van je Den Haag ❤
Instead of Oh, my gosh!...Ashley can actually say Oh, my Josh! :)) Would be a nice game of words, don`t you think?
Ahaha I have said this in the past. Not on the video I don't think. It is a funny play on words. -Ash
:)
I live in Den Haag
Same, i also live in bulgaria
lol wtf
How many school in den Haag?
Kudos to Josh for pronouncing "Den Haag" just right
+Erik Stoop 👌 yay! I tried. :p
Born and raised in Den Haag, moved to the US in 1996, visited in 09. No love for the "Stadt"? Or how about Schilderswijk??? l grew up there!
Chi Wong I live in the Schilderswijk the so called hood of The Netherlands and it’s actually true I want to move to the US too if I’m older.
hi i love your vídeos are very cool saludos from México
Misinformation at minute 15. The origins of Gin lay in England when a few English craftsmen failed to reproduce the Jenever (Jenever in Flemish and Dutch / Jenèvre in French)produced there by some Belgian Jenever Masters. The failed produce was called Gin. Jenever's origin is in Brugge, Flanders, in the 13th century, and that's not in Holland either.
L Ludovic Brugge was Dutch back then, and at the time was part of the relevant provinces, unlike most of Belgium.
oh and next time when you are in holland i advice you to go to Utrecht, thats probably the nicest town of the country
Robin B
You are the best!
The Netherlands was indeed a republic for Napoleon but it also had a kind of royal family back then. only they were not king but stadtholders
Job Franschman You should either call them ‘City Holders’ or just ‘stadhouders’
Don’t be so extra by creating words
Is Laura the camera"man"?
No but she does like to take photos!
You guys should really come back in spring or summertime, cause you had such shitty weather and the NL's is sooo pretty when everything is in bloom and stuff, I actually never go on summer holidays due to the 'fact' that there is no better destination in summer then our tiny ass country ... imho. ;) And ifff you lot decide to come back and need a guide (free of charge of course) and want to see some other areas of the NL's most tourist won't get to see, let me know ait? Cheers to you and on an excellent vid once again.
PS: That offer of me being your tour guide ONLY counts when you promise to bring Laura of course ... 😏
Jesus Christ americans....I'm not saying it's a bad video, I've also lived in Den Haag and loved it. So it also brings back memories. But how can you still be so astonished and excited about everything? "OMG a few pieces of bread and old banana for 10 euros, awesome!!!" "OMG sun, love it" "OMG this OMG that"....it's like looking on a bunch of people on drugs. I guess some extacy from Amsterdam?
You're really selling us...azijnzeiker.
So I was looking at a map in school and found out about The Hague
And I was like what because that’s my last name and I know it might say storm on my account that’s just my middle name
You probably don’t care but I thought it was really cool and I asked my parents and grandparents and they said a long long time ago our ancestors used to live there
Me again:)
Looks like Ashley is enjoying some well earned girl time with Laura! Joshua, try to stay out of the way. LOL 😂
I'll do my part. 📹
Ik werk in den haag internasionalestratshof
Hague reminds me of San Francisco without the homeless and needles.
Did you guys see Girl With A Pearl Necklace?
Sadly, no, we didn't have quite enough time to see all the museums, but the Escher museum was pretty cool.
earring
Lmao, nice one
Jenever is pronounced Je- Nee- Vur. ("Je", like in the dutch word for you. "Nee", like in the dutch word for no and "Vur", like in the word fur but with a v.) Normaly it's an old mans drink, to dutch people, but in coctail glasses it looks a lot cooler I must say. It probably will tast just as awfull tough. Have you heard of a "kopstoot?" (headbud) You should ask for that when you come back.
Linda Raterink Jenever is just Gin.
Ik woon in den haag
The bonbon is called HAAGS HOPJE.
Hope you guys had fun over here in Den Haag (The Hague) I don’t like that cityname btw. It’s like what The Hague?!?!? XD
The Hague is a large village, indeed. It doesn't have cityrights. The former name for the Netherlands was DE BATAAFSE REPUBLIC (NAPOLEON).
Come to Stuttgart Germany 🇩🇪 next
No football games
Laura is pretty.
~
laura, oh gosh
's-Gravenhage*
IK SEASON @imrankhanworld 💥
South holland the best.
huh? why dont you came to Schilderswijk, hahaa its the baddest place of the Netherlands!! xD
Hahaah yea
Where are all dem Dutch surfers???
Riiiiight? Just go to Den Haag, you're sure to find one in politics too ;)
WΔY ΔWΔY oh WUUUUUT?!
the place on the coast is not Den Haag it's a village called Scheveningen
It is not a village it is a district of The Hague.
@Deacaros - Ha ha :) You are totally right mate. But don't take this "EU-phoric" behaviour so serious. Soon as they turn of the cam, they will run to first McDonalds and eat all burgers there without any excitement :)
