Moved to Rotterdam like 4 days ago and watching this made me feel incredibly grateful with life for being able to experience a city and society as amazing as this one.
I love Rotterdam, not been for a while and planning to go back this year. We used to fish a huge street fishing tournament through the city but it doesn't run anymore so i'll be riding solo!
We moved here in January and are so happy for the change in scenery from Dubai. Rotterdam is a wonderfully friendly and beautiful place to live. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as we are 😊
I was born in Rotterdam and lived there till I was 15 (1983), then I had to move to the UK. In many ways I very much miss living in Rotterdam and the Netherlands in general. I often think what my live would have been like if I could have stayed in Rotterdam. This video is well done and although much has changed since I lived there, I still recognize my birth city. The video even mentions the original Holland-America Lijn and that reminded me of my dad and his stories he used to tell about his early live. He worked for this shipping company post war as Chief Steward on ships like the SS Nieuw Amsterdam and the SS Rotterdam which cruised between Rotterdam and New York. btw This video came up on my suggested selections as I recently did a search for Rotterdam's Central station. I'm glad I clicked on it, I had a nice trip down memory lane, thank you for that.
This is such a lovely message Patrick. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I’m so happy to hear how this video sparked some old memories for you 😀
"het Kralingse bos" is beautiful and has a great view of the skyline. Same goes for former international steam ship "SS rotterdam" which is nice to visit by watertaxi. Another great view is from the terrace of the former subtropical swimming pool "Tropicana". And last but not least "Maassilo" is one of the coolest venues in the Netherlands for concerts. So many great options in Rotterdam you keep coming back.
I lived in this wonderful city 3 years ago and probably I will be back soon ! :) Netherlands always in my heart. Beautiful people, nature and everything
If in Rotterdam take a water taxi across the Maas, it only costs €4 each and you can get a high speed boat trip under the Erasmus bridge which is pretty good fun for not much. You can take it from Hotel New York back into the main city centre, for example.
@@qwertyuio997 There's taxi stops all around. But I know there is like an office where you can order by Hotel New York. Probably some taxi's waiting though. Very rough today mind!

@@theintrepidguide I spent last Friday in Rotterdam and have to thank you, again, for this video. What a spectacular city! watching your video in 2022 and still i found it so relevant. tyou mentioned history about every place and that knowledge is rare. you are doing a great job❤
I really enjoyed that, it was very well presented. We lived behind the Stathaus for over a year in the early 1990a and I never saw the courtyard. The architecture of our place on Noordmolenwerf was also vibrant, we had lots of living space overlooking the canal. The Santa Claus clip really cracked me up, I was having a workout and was close to stopping with laughter when I saw what he was holding ... thankfully Rotterdam council thought the same and repositioned it. I'm going back at the end of November and can't wait to explore the City all over again.
This is a brilliant video! It perfectly reflects the beautiful architecture of the Nederland's most beautiful city and the incredible vibe the city has. Just needed to include Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip) to make it even more perfect. Erg goed!
I am from Rotterdam and I can also recommend all the places you mentioned. I would like to add the Kralingse plas / bos as well. It is a lake surrounded by a forest, all within the city. You can walk around the lake, but if that is too much (about 5 kilometers), take a bike! Also, it is a nice place to see a sunset (if it doesn't rain....)

This is because practically no dutch people still live in central Amsterdam, it’s just offices air bnb’s and foreigners.
