BERGEN TO OSLO | NORWAY IN A NUTSHELL

  • A short (not that short) video documenting our brief time in Norway at the beginning of the year. Travelling between Bergen and Oslo.
    It took me nine months to put this video together, but finally finishing it made me so nostalgic for travel and adventure.
    I hope it brings a lil entertainment and joy to an otherwise relatively gloomy time in the year.

    I know this travel but personnally it was Oslo >>>> Bergen in train, a very good souvenir.

    I'm tired of the 'everything is wonderful' type of travel documentary. This was an honest portrayal of your own personal experience, warts and all. I have friends in Norway and have been there a number of times; pity you missed the Vigeland Park.

      Hey Peter! Appreciate the feedback. Yeah, if there's one thing we are shit at, it's sugar coating things. Glad you enjoyed that kind of style! Defos going to go back in the near future and try and hit up the places we missed proper!!

    Aww you visited Norway at the worst possible time. You should either visit during spring, summer or fall.

    • @Luredreier
      @Luredreier 3 года назад +2

      Yep, or if they want the winter experience go further north and/or further inland.
      The coast in central and southern Norway kind of sucks during the winter months...

    I just did the Nutshell tour this eeek and we had loads of people doing it from Oslo to Bergen. We only had 30 minutes in Flam. Would have loved at least an hour.

    • @Kev_Thomson

      Flam is a wonderful wee place! But honestly don’t think you missed much there. It’s really small, not loads to see or do. We ironically wish we had less time so we could’ve been on the train in daylight longer :)

      @@HrHaakon I highly doubt you could call yourself a Norwegian if you use an umbrella. I can honestly say I've never owned one personally (with the exception of when I was kid, but "owning" something as a kid is kinda out of the question), thus I've never used one, no matter the weather.

    Thick snow would involve the whole train being covered (happens some winters).
    Not the soles of your boots being covered. ;-)
    Also, pitty that you took the train during the dark afternoon in late winter/early spring.
    Better to go during the daylight or in summer.
    February really isn't the right season to visit Norway.
    At least not that far south.
    Further north you can have a decent if cold time.

      Thank you so so so much for your actually constructive feedback. Again, as I mentioned at the beginning of the video, this is in no way a guide. Just a wee trip wee took to have a look around. But we fully intend to return at some point and tweak our itinerary to do Norway better justice! But your pointers are super super helpful and very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time!

    6:48, you were most certainly not «literally travelling across the entire country» on your journey from Bergen to Oslo. Quite the opposite, that is LITERALLY only a fraction. Lol.

    • @Kev_Thomson
      @Kev_Thomson  3 года назад

      I hear what you're saying. I know we didn't travel across the WHOLE country. I don't think Norway is less than 300 miles round... What I was referencing is verbatim what I said, we are travelling across it. As in coast to the almost the border of Sweden. Just a wee bit of dramatisation I suppose for the sake of entertainment! Didn't expect it to be taken so literally haha!

    • @suvanaa

      @@Kev_Thomson thats alright, i guess its just a bit of a pet peeve for a lot of us northerners, because we’re so often forgotten when refering to Norway. Even by norwegians 😅 Norway has so much more to offer than just the southern/west/east part of the country. Our northern region is very big and the climate and even the culture i’d say is very, very different depending on what area you’re in. Very much recommend visiting north of the country!

      Thank you. I should've put a wee caption on there saying to be careful. In our defence, I did ask one of the staff on the train if it was cool to do it and they said sure, but not in dark tunnels or if the weather was bad. Only when you can see where you're going basically. Also, nothing brushes up against the train that close. We weren't really hanging out, more leaning out. Regardless, your advice is solid haha!
