As a religious person, I absolutely hate how some religious people treat women like that. It’s so horrible and like every community, there’s always going to be THOSE people sadly. Misogyny is not ok!
@@melodyisreallycool it absolutely sucks, but when many major world religions teach that women are second class citizens, or straight up property, it's understandable where it comes from
I’ve been raised in a Christian household, but I’m not sure if I believe. It’s something I’ll figure out in my own, but my parents tell me I’m not allowed to marry a non-Christian, I need to give up my hobbies to focus on God, and they do view men as higher than women. I can’t wait to get out and find my own view of the religion.
The Bible certainly doesn't say that you can't marry a non-christian, though it does say that it is risky. It sounds like you have pretty respectable parents though.
I’m sorry that your parents seem to be very controlling. In the context of their religious convictions, it makes sense why they would want you to marry a Christian, but they are for sure overstepping their bounds for sure with setting a rule on marriage instead of recommending/guiding you to find a Christian partner. Also, I’m sorry if they truly believe that women have less worth than men. No church worth partaking in should uphold the belief that men have more intrinsic value than women. I hope you find your way to a good church (maybe look into Catholicism or Anglicanism/Episcopalianism) which respects universal human dignity and that you can develop more healthy boundary with your parents in the future!
Ignore the first two replies, do what you want with your own life, it's not worth letting twisted teachings cloud your judgement. Do whatever you think is right for yourself, and if that involves getting the hell out of dodge then definitely do that
The driving thing is so thoroughly stupid. Even if you’re in the patriarchal 50s bs all the way, if she can’t drive, how is she meant to take the kids to school? Or shop for groceries? Or do half of the things expected of a 100% stay at home parent?
Homeschool the kids, use the school bus, order groceries(or ask husband to bring them) or wait for the man to come home to go out. Don’t get me wrong it is still outrageous, but I have no doubts that people have done this to women regardless, and some might still live like this. Like I know for one my grandma doesn’t drive.
I want to say that religion does not excuse this behavior. This is a prime example of how over time religion became something completely different, and a way for men to have more power. It’s so sad to see people who have had horrible and traumatic experiences from the church when it should have been the opposite. Like that’s not what religion is supposed to do, it’s supposed to free your soul! As a religious person, hearing stories like this makes me so upset. Religion means more to me than my own life, and it’s such a beautiful thing. The fact that some people would twist their religion in such a way that someone like Chad Chad would have these horror stories is honestly an insult to me and everyone like me
It is true, one time My sibling and I were arguing. And my father always said that you can't fight with your siblings and that you should love each other, so me and my sister were arguing about something and my father became so mad that he tied us together with a rope until we made up. At that time I didn't realize that that was not normal. Religion is just an excuse for these behaviors
"Twist a religion." Religion has always been like this since the beginning. The Bible is constantly saying the women are below men, that they should be silent, that their only redeeming quality is giving birth. You don't get to follow a hateful religion and then pretend like it isn't the religion.
And then they DO let you get a driver’s license when they realize they don’t want to take the kids everywhere they need to be. So suddenly it IS important.
Its so unfortunate how religion is supposed to guide people to a good life and to do good things, but then people take it too far and traumatized those close to them
Exactly. Like I believe in a God but I hate the word "religious" because I do not want to be associated with these kinds of people. I'm lucky to have grown up in a religious family that doesn't have extremely traditional views, but I know there's a lot of people who don't and either end up brainwashed and continuing the cycle or just... broken. It's saddening.
It's so unfortunate that people choose to ignore how inherently harmful religion is, and then pretend like it's actually a good thing. Funny how atheists don't need a book to tell them not to kill people.
And there are genuinely still guys who say, without a hint of disbelief, that misogyny is in the past, all in our heads, and that we’re “looking for sexism” (actual words said to me after I talked about being sexually harassed omw to work). Meanwhile shit like this still exists, is still commonplace, and women are still dying by the thousands just for being women.
Okay but also how will the "can only be a mother" drive their kids to school and soccer practice and to friend's houses then? Like wouldnt that still be part of the "only mom" role? Lol
My family's like this. Kids just straight up arent allowed to go anywhere or have anyone over. They just exist in the house learning either "manly" work like woodworking, plumbing, or metalsmithing or "womanly" work like embroidering, baking, or general housework. No friends after school. No sports unless the school provides transport. No jobs. And then the parents act shocked when the kids turn out messed up
This video is gonna be a good one! Side note, I can’t believe people can think so backwards and old fashioned like that but it’s unfortunately we live in a society 😩
Okay but as a Jew who follows the Torah, our religious texts are also binding and don't excuse or allow this behavior either. I know you don't follow them or consider talmud or mishnah binding, but please don't lean into the "these texts no longer matter because the Jews are outdated" shit
As a Christian I’m so sorry Chadchads family was like that. While for me to the family dynamic was also God, then the dad, mom, and the kids, it didn’t seem to affect much, they weren’t too strict.
Once upon a time i had to teach an elderly lady how to pay for and pump her gas. Turns out her husband had just passed and she hadn't done it since they got married in the 70's. I think about her when i hear people say "ah your hubby can just do that for you".
Except the Bible itself is extremely sexist. Timothy 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. I'm tired of """good""" religious people acting like it isn't their religion. You don't get to pick and choose what parts of the religion you follow, and then claim that's what it actually is, because that isn't how religion works.
@@LycanKai14 the Bible it’s not sexist you see a lot of people when they see a verse or they hear a verse in the Bible. It's almost like... a lot of people who's just blatantly patriarchal tries to hide under the "religious" umbrella, and connects everything to God's wisdom... when in reality that might not be what God actually want us to do...
Anyways, any type of abuse is never normal and should never be normalized. Even if it comes from someone who's "religious", it will never justify what trauma they've caused to the victims.
No you're right, and if anyone gets offended by your non offensive take, they should understand everyone has their own perspective and world veiw. As a Muslim, we know extremism is prohibited, and that Islam was one of the first monotheistic religions to off women the freedom to work, to fight, to own businesses and land, and to pick her spouse. And I see so many westernized Muslim men follow the way of the overtly patriarchal beliefs of the west and it just gets so misconstrued. They use religion to hide.

It's horrible how people still even support certain scriptures. When those scriptures are what put through thousands of women through horrible shit. Why would God mistreat his own creations and belittle them to nothing but marriage and babymakers? Make it make sense! That book is probably the devils 🙄
You should be angry at the people twisting the Bible to say what they want, not the Bible itself. Hopefully you will find it in yourself to ask for forgiveness.
Patriarchy knows no religion or region. Im a muslim female from Sudan my family is very religious yet the total opposite of this. They always prioritized our education and pushed us to pursue our careers and become independent, as a necessity not a luxury, because most ppl on earth need to work to survive. Our family was not an exception, almost everyone in our generation was like that. We pursued our careers at home and abroad, and traveled on our own. We had full social lives. I am extremely grateful but I do realize patriarchy exists everywhere. Only the West have done a great job denying it at home and blasting others for it, esp us the muslims and developing countries.
I am a Christian, but this is cult behavior. I want to eventually get married and have kids, but i also plan to get a drivers license, go to college, and become an actress/drama teacher
This is exactly like my family. Everything they make me learn, 'it's for when you have a husband', 'for when you have kids', never for myself. I went to college but i didn't even get to choose what i study, got the useless degree just for show. But the good thing about going to college, I'd probably still think this was normal if i didn't go to college and meet different people. the way i view the world changed. I still don't have a driver's license because I don't have the confidence to drive now. Also, I'm still bitter over the boys getting paid to do the chores they expect me to do everyday workout even getting a thank you.
It is not easy for boys either, my brother (he is pretty skinny) gets body shamed a lot by my father "you need to eat more, you look like a toothpick" "you have zero muscles, you're so weak", also he is not allowed to cry or show any signs of weakness, and he gets so much pressure into having really high grades so that he can later provide for his family.
@@0-Sweet-Cloud-0 I'm not saying it's easy for boys. I'm saying my brothers were treated so much better and it definitely has to do with our gender because it was never a secret. It was always 'you are a woman, so this or that'. And also bullying someone because they're skinny has nothing to do with religion. I feel sorry for him because I was bullied for it too.
My mom’s family is like this, she’s Hispanic, and almost every single woman relative we have who was ever married grew up this way, and then when their husbands died young, they were left without the means to take care of themselves, so the children always had to take over. My mom lost her dad when she was only 20, and her mom never learned to drive, because she was a woman and your husband drives you around. So it forced my mom and her little sister to get their driver’s licenses so their mother could go places. That’s just one of many examples, but teaching women that they shouldn’t learn to do certain things because their husband will do it for them, is always setting them up for more hardship later on. They either can’t be independent from their husband because only their husband has the means and skills to support himself, she has nowhere to go and no money or skills to take with her, and no way to leave; or her husband dies unexpectedly young (which was the case with most of my family), and she is left a young widow without a husband to do all the things she wasn’t allowed to learn or have, and now she has to pick up the pieces and rely on her children to make up the difference. It’s sad that we’ve taught women this for so many generations, my uncle just passed away very unexpectedly and young, and his widow was taught the same things, and now has no job or skills to support herself and her daughters, doesn’t drive, has no money, etc. The cycle only seems to stop when daughters are forced to take over the “husband’s” role when their mother needs it, and they finally realize why this doesn’t work.
Lmaooo I’m literally a woman whose husband drives her everywhere 🤣 it’s because I have anxiety and suck at focusing so I don’t trust myself to drive, and if I needed to my friends also take me places and I could Uber if I had to. I don’t think it’s the most convenient and it shouldn’t be forced on anyone or expected that a woman wouldn’t want her own license and car though. That’s just dumb and misogynistic
She said she her family was part of a cult in video before. It was on one of the fellowship prayer podcast things she used to do with nick and Mr beard.
Our family never had anything to do with gender, but there was a patriarchy. Kids would be ignored when they showed off their passion, because to my family, children are too young to even have a dream that has a chance to come true. Adults were at the top. If you spoke against my parents saying you wanted to do something different, they would not be aggressive, but just put you down. My parents now say they hope to never do that again, but that is the reason why I give up on so many projects. A patriarchy in a family is incredibly unhealthy
OMW.. So sorry to anyone who went through this ❤❤... It's so sad how people twist God's word to promote their agenda God loves you and has a plan for you. He wants a relationship with you. For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” - Jeremiah 29:11.

I’ve been raised in a Christian household, but I’m not sure if I believe. I can’t wait to get out and find my own view of the religion.
Read the writings of priest-monk Seraphim Rose. All your questions will be resolved.

Homeschool the kids, use the school bus, order groceries(or ask husband to bring them) or wait for the man to come home to go out. As a religious person, hearing stories like this makes me so upset. Religion means more to me than my own life, and it’s such a beautiful thing. The fact that some people would twist their religion in such a way that someone like Chad Chad would have these horror stories is honestly an insult to me and everyone like me
It is true, one time
My sibling and I were arguing.

@@bagelisdeadYou hit the nail right on the head there.
Religion was always a method of control. And the only difference between religion and a cult is time.
Lol
The kids aren’t allowed to go anywhere and they’re probably expecting home schooling from the mother as well. Idk
No jobs. And then the parents act shocked when the kids turn out messed up
Chad Chad was homeschooled so her parents probably expected her to also homeschool her kids. Insane stuff
Yea, we're homeschooled and restricted from having an outside life.
This video is gonna be a good one!
Side note, I can’t believe people can think so backwards and old fashioned like that but it’s unfortunately we live in a society 😩
i hate how some christians live like we’re still bound to the Old Testament. like no we’re not, Jesus fulfilled them and made the New Testament.

My love for Chad Chad continues to grow
That’s why I always say there’s a difference between being extremely religious and actually following God/Jesus
@@LycanKai14 and also when you hear other verses, they kinda sound contradictory. I personally think that if someone is truly religious, they wouldn't be so restricting towards woman... I hope I don't offend anyone... (if I do offend any of you I apologize in advance...)

Chad Chad I relate to you so much girl keep doing you ❤
My mom’s family is like this, she’s Hispanic, and almost every single woman relative we have who was ever married grew up this way, and then when their husbands died young, they were left without the means to take care of themselves, so the children always had to take over.

This ain’t religious it’s psychotic, anyone who truly believes would not put their children through that.
