    If Mike Matthews does end up going somewhere else then I wish him nothing but the best. Yeah I'd LOVE for him to stay at Tennessee because I think he's gonna be a baller!! But if he's not happy here then he should find a place where he can be happy. I do think there's something going on in that WR room though that NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY!!! I don't know if it's Coach Pope or our staff just hasn't been good with their evaluation process or they ain't developing those guys. But either way something has to be done because we don't have ANY depth at the WR position now

      @JoeDunagain I think that's why CJH has brought in the new offensive analyst. Need some new route trees and receiver development. Maybe some plays?

  • @JoeDunagain
    @JoeDunagain 2 дня назад +1

    Evidently one of our receivers that entered the portal (can't remember which one) had some negative things to say about Pope. Now a lot of people are thinking he just said those things because he wasn't getting any playing time.

    And thats definitely something that needs to be fixed. Make it to where a kid can transfer 2 times. Under special circumstances maybe a 3rd time. An example would be if someone in his family got very sick or had some type of debilitating injury and he needed to be closer to home. Or if his head coach or position coach left or got fired then he could transfer. But mostly just give them 2 transfers

    I saw a post on Instagram yesterday that showed a picture of the Shoe and all the ORANGE that was there and the caption said something like, This goes to show that Tennessee has the most loyal and passionate and best fans in college football. Well an Ohio St fan said, nah maybe the 2nd best cause Ohio St has the best fans. So of course I had to put my 2 cents worth in lol. I said how can you honestly say that Ohio St fans are the best? There were 30k+ Tennessee fans in the Shoe and it's because of the Ohio St fans. If they are the best fans on the planet why did they sell their tickets and allow 35% or more of their stadium to be ORANGE? It's Ohio St fans fault there was so many Tennessee fans there and they should be ashamed of themselves for that lol 😅. And yeah I honestly believe they should be ashamed. There's NO WAY IN HELL THERE WOULDVE BEEN EVEN 10,000 OHIO ST FANS IN NEYLAND STADIUM IF WE HAD HOSTED THE GAME. So of course he responded with something like, well what happened to those Tennessee fans after the 3rd quarter because Tennessee fans were just about gone by then because of the butt whipping we gave them. I told him that our football team got their butts whipped but our fans didn't. And I asked him how did that prove that Ohio St fans are the best? If they were truly the best they wouldn't have let that many fans into THEIR STADIUM!! And I said that Ohio St fans were spoiled rotten and they were mostly bandwagon fans lol. That really pissed him off cause he didn't respond anymore 😂. Now I do know that Ohio St fans are definitely among the best in the world but even though they probably outnumber Tennessee fans they ain't anywhere close to being as loyal, passionate, psychotic or as loud as we are. And they are so used to winning that a good chunk of them would rather fire a coach that wins 90% of his games by not showing up in the 1st ever playoff game in their stadium just to prove a point. Like I said earlier "spoiled rotten". They probably couldn't find a coach that is better than Day so I wish they would fire him and I hope the coach they would get sucks and Ohio St has to go through a period of time like we had to endure. Maybe if something like that happened Ohio St wouldn't take winning for granted as much. But there's a chunk of Tennessee fans that seem to have forgotten where we were just 5 short years ago. So maybe I don't have a clue what I'm talking about 😂. Sorry for the long rant. I'm done now 😅

    Tennessee will have to rely on the portal to get the necessary talent to compete in the fall… while simultaneously preparing the upcoming freshman to advance in Heupel style of play… the portal is an enemy bc there is no real commitment to any program anymore… for the right price the portal can get you whatever you need..it will be a company keeper in a lonely hour..

  • @gwhite7136
    @gwhite7136 3 дня назад +1

    I got mixed emotions about Mathews. I know he has talent but this staff also likes tall WR's. At 6'1, that's a bit undersized than what we are used to getting. Imo, Nico being 6'5 has a bit more used to targeting taller WR's. White, at 5'9 in lifts imo was harder for Nico to hit and Mathews isn't much taller. So, I'm ok with Mathews going on that hand, I think he's a good WR and think he just doesn't want to be here for whatever reason, but son, where are you going to go that you would for sure be starting and for what QB? I'm not sure there is a team that you will get as many reps that has a legit shot to make the playoffs again, where you will for sure, set in stone be starting. Dave Hooker said the same thing.

    • @LittleRockVol
      @LittleRockVol 3 дня назад +2

      Exactly. I think Matthews saw an opportunity to leverage his worth with the mass exodus of other TN receivers. And he may have overplayed his hand.

    • @gwhite7136
      @gwhite7136 3 дня назад +1

      @@LittleRockVol I think your right. Imo, any school that he goes to and starts for, is likely not a playoff caliber team. I think many teams would take him but start him over their starters? TN would start him next season so not sure what he's expecting.

    • @LittleRockVol
      @LittleRockVol 2 дня назад

      @gwhite7136 Truth. He had to know he'd be receiver #1 if he stayed at TN. AND I'm pretty sure CJH bringing in the new offensive analyst is going to result in some new routes for receivers. But if there's anyone who doesn't want to give their all for the Vols, especially when they're getting paid - bye, bye. Coaches can't bend and beg players to stay. That's detrimental to the whole program.

    I’d say you’re right….too bad fans don’t have access to the actual players. If he was balling out in practice and was better than what was on the field he probably wanted out. Sometimes that does happen with talent. Of course there’s always some that feel that way but they just ain’t good enough yet. I wish he would have stayed but hey if he doesn’t want to be here playing in one of the best stadium and fanbase then we probably don’t want him here. Like you said we just don’t know if it’s all about money…..or if he felt like he should’ve been used more. They’ve just about destroyed the game paying players 2 million a year and he’s on the sideline watching 3 and outs probably cutting Nico slack because of the poor pass protection from the tackles but watching all those drops that would’ve been TDS this year…….im sure he has his reasons but I’m just confused more on when he hit the portal there’s your story but we’ll never know

  • @kidzbop38isstraightfire92

    Horrible look on Heupel. Literally everyone but Heupel knew he should have played last year, but our idiot coach thought he could redshirt our best WR recruit in 10+ years. This one is borderline unacceptable because it was directly due to negligence... And it wasn't like he was buried behind talent, he had an Injured mid-WR (Squirrel) in front of him. This is first time in Heupel's tenure that I'm really questioning on if he has it.
