Met Peter Dinklage in a restaurant in NYC, in the middle of my first binge of Game of Thrones. I thought I was hallucinating. He was just awesome - friendly, smart, engaging - very happy I got to meet the best part of the best show ever.
Whatever it is that sets an actor apart from the herd, Peter Dinklage has this in abundance. Yes, he's physically different, but the quality that emenates from his soul is so far beyond his appearance or stature. An actor's job is to project authentic humanity, kind of the way a poem projects authentic emotion. His has a rare intelligence and dignity, command of his art-- that transfixes us. I love him.
Peter Dinklage has the most powerful soothing voice. I've only ever seen him for the first time on Game of Thrones. Really stand out man of endless characters. Truly magnanimous gentleman.
It's rare that CBS sunday morning has an interview that I think was badly handled or maybe misrepresented something, but nearly the entirety of Leslie Stahl's line of questioning was about how Peter's appearance affects his work. The man rarely gives interviews. I would have hoped to have seen a line of questions which would help us have insight into how his mind works to affect his work, not how his appearance affects his work. CBS ruined an rare opportunity.
While some of the questioning is appropriate because a main theme in the film he’s promoting (Cyrano) involves physical differences, I agree that Stahl’s questions remained there for too long. (Or, to be fair, perhaps whomever edited the undoubtedly much longer raw footage made choices that left behind other more substantive conversation.) I look forward to future interviews with Mr. Dinklage, should he agree to them, that give us more insight into how he brings to life his amazing characters, as well as the world of his production company.
For anyone thinking about commenting on this further, I think it's fair to criticize her method or speculate on the reasoning, but don't attack her character.
He is so handsome and has a beautiful voice. It makes me sad to hear him talk about wanting to hide. I can’t imagine being born in his generation when people were so attuned to finding peoples’ differences.
@wishingonthemoon...people today are not much different...many people still judge. This man is brilliant and I am happy his talent was discovered. He's so much more than we see.
@@Emy53 Right. The judgments are still there, people are just much quieter and polite about it. That said, Peter Dinklage is an attractive person, whether he believes it or not (he earned the "Brad Pitt of little people") so I'm also a bit like.. you can't be too angry at life.
Peter Dinklage is one of the BEST actors I have seen. I love that he is SO willing to tell us "I am thrilled you like what I do but would you do it in your living rooms and theaters and not in my face thanks". Admire but don't bother him. He has a life too. Many young actors could take a lesson here. You don't have to be polite to people that are literally harassing you. Being a fan doesn't mean we have the right to accost people. We have this thing where we think we deserve their attention because we give them ours. That's not the way it works. It's nice to learn about people but I do not blame Peter in the slightest for rarely doing these things.
I do love the constant depth in his being. He’s a very captivating man; whom almost has an ASMRtist-style voice. I could listen to him for hours.. I have. And I agree that his expressions are a huge part of his allure. You can see so much soul just by watching him speak. A true Hallmark of a very Gifted Actor. ❤❤
For me, it was the Station Agent, I love his character in that movie, while doing hair at radio city,I was lucky to work with several actors who made the choice to play Santa’s elves. Some grappled with it pretty hard. They were some of the better all around performers in the show.
Agreed. He did say some mean things about GOT fans online (about their disappointment regarding the shows ending) but it's something I can look past. People just aren't black and white
I agree with him that if too much is known re the private life of an actor, it makes a difference in accepting them in a character. It has for me, I tell you. Love your acting, Peter!!!
Peter’s smile is so beautiful, he’s a great actor. First saw him in The Station Agent, knew he was a great actor and he’s never let us down. Thank you Peter.
Hey, Sunday Morning. You're the best news show out there. This new format of going back and forth repeating sections of an interview is getting old really fast. Please stop it. You're driving us nuts. Don't know who's in charge now, but get rid of them.
I agree with him, his performance as a phenomenal actor is all I’ve seen in everything he’s been in. It would be difficult not to stare at him and only because he’s so amazing.
Peter Dinklage is a brilliant actor. He's definitely one of the best on Game of Thrones, which is filled with great actors, but he really stands out, is very intelligent and sophisticated, brilliant person and his performance.
When Peter talks about the difference of people staring at him vs people staring at him as an actor or celebrity is really amazing and it's frustrating to see Leslie kinda not see the difference. But he explains how he owns it, indeed he does. When we see him on screen we see the characters in which in incapsulates extraordinary.
Saw a Game of Thrones dungeon monologue of his while stuck in Chicago overnight and thought, "This is the greatest actor alive!" He's the top no matter what size.
Love Peter Dinklage. He MADE Game of Thrones. I love his sense of humor, as well. Also, please, folks. Can't you edit these videos so we can watch the entire interview at once, rather than having to toggle between two different interviews? This format is especially annoying because bits and pieces are repeated.
He is spot-on in just the first few statements he makes about "celebrity" chipping away at the on-screen persona that an actor attempts to create. It is getting more difficult all the time to separate an actor's personal life from their on-screen character with the constant influx of social media stories and videos. Too bad, really. He's doing the right thing by limiting his personal activity with social media and interviews.
His brilliant, low-key "I Think We're Alone Now" was filmed mostly in my tiny village but early AM, streets closed, mayor said he never went anywhere, so private😭 I saw Elle Fanning & Paul Giamatti from afar!!!! Everything he does I love him more & more, getting sexier as he ages & in GoT😆 💥🔥🙌💝
Mr. Dinklage makes a point here. Actors are not elected officials, who handle public coffers and aid in law enactment. Reasonable public scrutiny of their lives is necessary. Actors are first PRIVATE CITIZENS who are sometimes harassed unnecessarily but some court the attention.
Repetition is dull, I know! Yet I must comment... High art comes from this man. He is so good, disappearing into each character, which at first glance, for less than a second, might seem impossible to imagine. The problem is that at first you see might not notice the actor, but as a woman (which I am), the fella. My luck, I saw (heard at first) Peter at his Alma Mater in Vermont one sunny day. OMG, that gorgeous face and smile. The voice. His eyes. All easy to commend as he bears them. Oscars come or not, the great actor in Peter, will catch the audience. Bravo for his complex, masculine characters, bravo. And I'll add grace, not ever too much sap. But comedy, yes please. My favorite first intro to share, with those not in the know, which would be less than zero today, is from the Frank Oz' version of "Death at a Funeral." Apologies for the gush. I feel better now. Thanks Leslie.
I always thought everyone of us has something about us that makes us "different." Not in a "special snowflake" sort of way. More like a Cyrano sort of way. For some, this "uniqueness" is more obvious than others. In Peter Dinklage's case, he has a voice (I cannot believe no one ever mentions this; it's amazing) and presence that makes him stand out.
This is my first time hearing about Mr Dinklage. That voice is so heavy and masculine-- it seems to somehow compensate for any other area that might be lacking. Hope that isn't rude to say.
That glass beach is across from Franklin Street on Hwy 1 in Ft. Bragg, CA. In the 80s it was fun to sift & haul out cobalt glass but it's not that easy to take the glass anymore. But it's still a fascinating place to visit.
Peter Dinklage is a phenomenal actor and avoids interviews, as much as he can, BECAUSE of interviews like the one he received from Leslie Stahl!…This whole segment, Here Comes the Sun, seemed to be badly produced/edited to the CBS standards I’m used to enjoying, for sure!

I would, except this piece is put together so badly, chopping everything to bits, that I can hardly enjoy it.
😊
Met Peter Dinklage in a restaurant in NYC, in the middle of my first binge of Game of Thrones. I thought I was hallucinating. He was just awesome - friendly, smart, engaging - very happy I got to meet the best part of the best show ever.
I could hear him talk all day. He has a wonderful intelligence and voice.

We all do!!
Yes, yes what a gift to us all. Has to be his intelligence and more, possibly his ability to write also, his complete contribution?
So well stated .
@@blackthornsloe8049 agreed! So eloquently
I think I've seen The Station Agent five or six times now & I still see something new. What a cast. What a story. ❤️👍
His facial expressions are what still have me !!! Absolutely brilliant!! And charming !!!
And handsome.
I watched GOT because of Peter. He is a compelling actor. Also smart, likeable, and funny.
Totally agree with you on that.
He’s the hottest actor!
Absolutely one of my favorite actors! He owns every role he takes on. 🤩
I agree.
He plays the same in almost any everything

Mr. Dinklage is a very interesting person. He's intense, intelligent and honest. I'm so glad he shares his talent with us all.
his voice and speech pattern is just incredible
He is so talented and so beautiful. When he is on screen it’s mesmerizing. He’s magic!
I think he’s absolutely right. Knowing more about the actor does affect how you see them as they perform.

Couldn't agree more!!! Horrible interview. He's incredible she's terrible!
I absolutely agree! Leslie was just awful and what COULD have been a really good “show” was poorly produced coming from CBS…
While some of the questioning is appropriate because a main theme in the film he’s promoting (Cyrano) involves physical differences, I agree that Stahl’s questions remained there for too long.
