Tearing my Achilles at 23 helps me understand and love this story so much. I was on the 4th floor at a gym and had to get carried out. Scared, confused and not sure what just happened. Notice how all of the stories about MJ come from a place of fear, but all of the stories about Kobe come from a place of reverence. I love Michael, but Kobe was, is and forever will be my 🐐🐍
I hate to douse water on this but, as someone who tore an Achilles and had to walk out the gym, it isn’t an injury that ‘hurts’. Not even as much as a sprained ankle. Once it snaps it snaps , it’s quick and that’s it. To walk on it just means you’re walking (limping) on your heel. But you can’t put pressure on your actual foot. No matter who you are. Ie, you can’t drive bc you can’t push with your foot. You can’t run no matter who you are. Not until it’s reattached. So there really isn’t any ‘toughness’ involved here, just unwisely limping on the heel
So im an MJ fan and a Kobe fan, and this just came to mind with this story. Kobe was a very driven masculine man as was MJ however it seems Kobe was maybe a better example of how to be that ultra alpha and still keep yourself grounded in your family 👪 single minded in his purpose but mindful of his place in his family. He and Vanessa could have split after Colorado, but imo he stayed BECAUSE of his children and adapted his behavior from being totally selfish and self absorbed into a man who made good on a second chance. The world is less without Kobe however where we miss out is what would have happened if we had a Kobe Jr to look forward to
interesting take but i disagree with your reading. Kobe was not a happy man, he spent his life overfocused. He was much better off than the average workaholic in terms of his life not being in total shambles. But he was a workaholic. And he engaged in constant self-harm and sleep deprivation his entire adulthood. MJ was also hypercompetitive, but if you extrapolate his life to compare it to a normal succesful person; he quit in his peak; when he felt pressure he diverted. He smoked cigars for fun, he played golf for fun, he gambled for fun. MJ was a normal guy and pretty darn happy and grew with his age. Kobe was a sadboy and a teenager for life.
Hey @ByronScottPodcast may I suggest in the playlist section you have a “Kobe Bryant” category? For all the clips of Kobe stories from your guests? I’m sure thousands of us fans would love that. Have a good one
Still can’t believe Kobe is gone… All that hard work turned him into a legend and he was supposed to live a great 2nd life after basketball while his daughter carried on his basketball legacy. Damn shame 😢😢😢
I nvr cared much for Kobe’s game bc I felt he didn’t let the game come to him it was as pressure pressure but I’d respect that man as a killer. There are two things to nvr tell me he’s not top 10 and don’t ever tell me he’s not better than LBJ.. period
I wasnt the biggets Kobe fan, I always thought he was a ball hog. However those last years of his career is when I started to appreciate the legend he was and started to like him even more with what he was positioning himself to do after NBA. I sometimes get teary-eyed listening to these stories. There is a lesson in this= appreciate the legends of today, not when they retired or are gone. They dont come around that easy.

Kobe would flew to the DR and had a BBL person put tge achilles back together if the Lakers didn't do it lol. This man's dedication to being great is unreal.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was there that night didn't know he had raptured his Achilles, I thought he hurt his foot he'll be good by the way he walked out. Wasn't until I got home and heard the news. Remembered being totally devastated knowing he was out the rest of the season
"He would've found somebody...." This made me think about flying in the helicopter on that foggy day. Rip to the legend
Yea reports say Kobe was fine with not flying. The pilot bullshitted.
Can’t get enough of Kobe. It makes sense that he walked off on his own as a point of pride to Paul Pierces wheelchair bound finals game.
Crazy story! Kobe!!!!🙌🏼❤️
Dr. Gary Vitti definitely got the best untold stories of Kobe injury history put money on that 💯💯
My favorite player he talking about wowww sure wish that didn't happen RIP Bro 🕊️🕊️
Damn I miss Kobe 😢
Heart of a Lion
It’s just basketball my guy, chill.
I don’t see how people could put anybody over Kobe he is my goat . When you watch him you see hard working and determination
Notice how all of the stories about MJ come from a place of fear, but all of the stories about Kobe come from a place of reverence. I love Michael, but Kobe was, is and forever will be my 🐐🐍
He was just.... Different. Thank you for being you. RIP Mamba
Paul pierce has to live with that. Kobe Kept it G until the end. RIP Mamba
Miss Kobe
The world is less without Kobe however where we miss out is what would have happened if we had a Kobe Jr to look forward to
Absolutely not.
interesting take but i disagree with your reading.
He stayed? You mean his wife stayed because Kobe bought her a 1 million dollar diamond ring bruv.
word 'missing' is an understatement every time I read, hear or see something 'bout you Kobe
Legends never die
Miss this dude so much
Humility and love for the game is the essence of being a GOAT!
I was definitely worried
Amazing man!!
Love you Kobe! You did it for us. You did it for the game. You will never be duplicated. You were on a completely different level than everyone else.
I miss you kobe wish I can hear you speak again a new life lesson from you.
The man was a GOAT off court more importantly. Miss u Kobe.
Straight Goat.
Harvey, Spacey,...you know the list....this is basketball keep that" he said " , "she said". shit out.
Everybody has a podcast nowadays.
That inner child 👼 😢 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Kobe, just like a knuckle headed Virgo, marching to the beat of his own drum. I love it. he said "I'm fixing this tomorrow with or without you"😂
“What’s he gonna tear his other one standin there?”🤣🤣
I nvr cared much for Kobe’s game bc I felt he didn’t let the game come to him it was as pressure pressure but I’d respect that man as a killer. There are two things to nvr tell me he’s not top 10 and don’t ever tell me he’s not better than LBJ.. period
God i miss kobe so glad i went to staples 4 times and seen him play i went to his final pre-season game in vegas he went off for 51
Paul Pierce just went down another notch in my book. Let’s go Bean!!! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Kobe 🐐🙏🏾👊🏾
I wasnt the biggets Kobe fan, I always thought he was a ball hog. However those last years of his career is when I started to appreciate the legend he was and started to like him even more with what he was positioning himself to do after NBA. I sometimes get teary-eyed listening to these stories. There is a lesson in this= appreciate the legends of today, not when they retired or are gone. They dont come around that easy.
He wasn't a ball hog he was a gunner it's a difference... lebron and Luka are ball hogs
A mans man ❤❤rip
