Need to hop in the comments about the Philo. gigas.
Your anatomy of the plant is accurate! Where the stem meets the petiole is called a node and where new growth comes out of. Each node can support multiple growth points, types of growth and is the highest traffic spot in the plant (where plant sugars and water passes through most). Since the roots are growing into the moss they are taking up extra water and nutrients, meaning there is a higher concentration of sugars and this is triggering new growth. You're meeting all her needs and shes loving it!
Sorry, horticulture student here... I geek out about plant processes 😅😂

My ring of fire has crazy variegation. Some just yellow splotches but then an almost sold pinkish orange leaf. The next had about half and half pinky orange and green. Each leaf is a surprise. I love it.

I was never really in love with them in the sense that I was seeking one out but I was gifted a very small baby plant and it’s honestly changed my whole mind 😂 I love it just for this reason! Each new leaf is just as exciting as the last, every time. 🎉

The roots going into the moss like that has triggered it to push out another leaf at each leaf point just as it would if you cut it up and rooted each leaf. Love it.

I agree with you about the philo gigas putting out all those leaves because of the moss pole. I tucked some of the aerial roots of my micans into the soil and then I started getting leaves from nodes lower on the plant (that already had a leaf) so maybe it's extra happy and has a strong root system to support those new leaves!

The philodendron gigas must really enjoy the extra space to root in like a pothos would if you had is near another pot of soil. The same thing happened to my pothos, like although the stem grows fast the one rooting in another lower pit grew triple the speed and much more compact than the rest.

For the Philo gigas, the only thing I can think of for the growth is that the gigas might have gotten an injury like a small cut or falling over. When we propagate by cutting, it forces the auxiliary buds to activate, like your gigas’ auxiliary buds have. Not sure but could be possible?
