Your L discolor is looking fabulous. They are terrestrial and don’t mind being in more traditional soil mixes, just make sure they don’t stay wet too long. I rotted mine😢. Also, they kind of grow laterally by rhizome and eventually need a wider pot. I really enjoyed this video and hearing about your recent favourites. Really appreciate your videos, Fern ❤. Alternatively, they’ll crawl over the edges and that’s a vibe as well. Def not a look everyone likes but I kinda like it
Mine definitely need wider pots. I have 2 ludisia discolor and really want a green lightening one.
The only plants I don’t like are the ones I don’t have yet. Once I got them I like them. Lol 😂

The Tortum seriously grows on you. At first it seems just like a weed. But the more you look at it, the more it looks unique and the stronger the desire to get one. 🤔

To my knowledge and personal experience tortums are fast, easy growers! I had an accident with mine too and a whole new leaf snapped off...it almost immediately pushed new growth!
Stake the tortum a miss pole will take away from the leaves for sure. I totally understand the connection you have with your plants lol. I touch and inspect mine every time I water it is like a relationship …not weird at all. 🥰

I put a bunch of trailing plants on my mantle (micans, heartleaf philodendron, cebu blue, brasil, Scindapsus pictus, and a manjula pothos) and I ordered the individual lights for pots, the little ring ones, and I love it. I plan on putting in a 2x2 on top and clipping little 4 inch pots on it with those clips that Becca uses. So excited.

I also have that clamp grow light that I manage to kind of hide so you only see the light and not the lamps so much.
I love them, they work amazing in my darkish corner
They really work even better than I thought. And smart to hide the clamp part. Maybe I can figure out a way to blend it in better too lol.

I can not wait for my Tortum to look like yours! 🥰🥰🥰 she is ALWAYS growing a new leaf, but isn’t growing upwards. I would use something thinner than a moss pole. I just learned they needed something to grow up on something…. Thanks!

I got Barrina grow lights and zip tied them to the canopy part and hang the plants up. They love it. Also to get more hanging space I bought a pretty and sturdy curtain rod and hung that up near the ceiling and also zip tied Barrina grow lights on that so I have extra room to hang plants
Love your P. tortum. I'm putting mine on smooth pale driftwood once it starts to reach out but the bamboo would work well too. It's more important for me that the busy leaves have uniform size rather than continually sizing up so I decided against a moss pole. Merry Christmas!

i have my ludisia discolor in a similar mix, its been in it for at least a year i think? and has bloomed multiple times and pupped so much so if its doing well i say keep it in what its in!! 🙌
I really do adore you fern! I get emotional so easy too 😅. I was playing rock music that my parents listened to when I was a kid, for my little boy last night and was sobbing listening to heavy metal with a 18 month old 🤣 he loved it and then fell asleep. Happy new year and bless your heart!! ❤🎉

I’ve often wondered if cabinets would create a situation where there’s less of a connection. Thanks for commenting on that.
I have some projects underway for cabinets but the goal is to grow most of my plants in my open living space. As in, cabinets will be for rehabs and isolation.

I like the idea of bamboo stick for your tortum. You could always take a prop later and try the moss pole. I just think bamboo will look so good!

Those are the lites I started with . I gave a friend a baby Pitcher Plant in a plastic container with moss mine is having one baby after another 😮 just high humidity never let it dry out is my rule tfs Merry Christmas Fern ❤

Fern! I've got a Hoya quinquenervia and it just bloomed. Like 4 peduncles all at once at the smell is AMAZING. Can't say that about many hoys tbh. I also have mine near a Sansi grow light so I have some minor sun stressing. Mine looks a lot like yours.

I feel the same about having a barrier with cabinet plants. I felt the same way with my growtent and everything just got so neglected. ALSO I vote moss pole for the tortum. I just feel like bamboo stakes do nothing and they’re so unstable. Anywayssss…have a merry Christmas!
Round leaves are my fave leaf shape. I want a perperomia hope. Your plant looks amazing! I have a silver dollar vine, too. I love mine so much. Silver dollar plants are so underrated. I have mine on a ladder shaped trellis. I’d like to let him just hang in his pot, but he seems top heavy and to have “weak” stems, so I’m scared to take away the trellis.

I’d do a thin moss pole for the tortem cause then it will still be minimalist but also help size up the plant!

I have that same grow light from Amazon and it's done wonders for my plants! (the bulkier one)
I remember you doing a collab with a blonde girl on RUclips quite some time ago ugh I can't remember her name sorry
But you guys both agreed that those kind of grow lights didn't do anything and I was so skeptical to buy them
But I'm so happy I did! My zz raven hadn't grown at all for 6 months and with this light it's doubled in size 😍 all of my plants near the light are exploding with new growth all winter long

I literally just got the exact same three limbed light today! My plant room gets basically zero light anyway, even less in winter, so figured it was time to get another grow light. Glad its working for you :)

I have a Philodendron Tortum cutting that’s doing great so far (6 weeks). I lean toward the bamboo stake. Good luck.

i have a couple (5 i think) of the black clamp amazon grow lights as well, and they arent cute in my appartment either but man are they good ! they're super gentle and warm colored and they last for a LONG time before the LEDs burn. its been saving my collection from the long canadian winter nights for sure !

You should try carnivorous sundew!! I've found them to be so much more fun and rewarding than any other carnivore, not to mention they don't need to go dormant at all!
You should be able to clip that Hoya to the trellis. The vine is long enough that you can clip it on the downside and then clip it up the next side going up the other side.

Loved your video. Wow, the Tortum is really growing up. I think it’s better on a stick because the moss pole would draw attention away from the plant imo. I used a soilless aroid mix (coco coir) with my jewel orchid. The😊 growth is great!

I have a question. I lost power today for about a hour or so and I freak out since I have fish tanks and over 100 plants. Where you are located, have you lost power in the cold months and did your plants suffer? When I can afford one I want to get a standby generator that works off of propane and automatically gives power to the whole house. BTW thanks for another great video as always.

So recently I was gifted a money tree and it sparked my joy for keeping plants again. I used to keep poison dart frogs and had tons of plants in their tanks so I’m fairly new to house plants. If I’m trying to grow out some string of hearts&turtles and a couple Hoyas would it be okay to propagate back into the same pot? I see tons of people propagating in different containers or water and I don’t have tons of room and was wondering if I could just cut the plant and pop it back in the pot
