Tom is intelligent, amazing guitar player, and all around a cool guy. His playing sounds just like the recorded versions of the songs and he didn’t miss a beat switching from each song. We need more Tom Morellos in this world.

Got to see Tom come out during a Springsteen concert last year. His 10 minute version of Ghost of Tom Joad was the highlight of the 5 hour concert. This man won't be fully appreciated for what he did for music until he's gone.

Best guitarists, unfortunately, are classified based on their core guitar skills, such is shredding, legato, picking (hybrid, sweep), etc. Tom doesn't shine in any of that particularly, whatsoever, he shines in his own style, rhythm, etc. No guitarist is gonna compare Tom to e.g. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Malmsteen, etc. It's simply because they are not even remotely close.
Tom Morello probably cancelled out my disappointment of traveling from New Orleans to see SOAD/BMTH only to have BMTH cancelled. He was that good and that Serj moment was beyond ridiculous.

Serj can sing no doubt about it but shows exactly how powerful Chris really was on vocals. Even Serj cant hit the notes. Killer to see Tom having a blast playing RATM again.
Chris was on such a higher level that it's hard to explain. The best way to understand it is seeing someone else trying to sing a song that was an absolute walk in tbe Park for him. It's unreal. Never another. Ever
Cornell was amazing no doubt, but everyone writes songs that fit their own voice. Range, key, and where the break is to flip from chest voice to head voice make a big difference. I'm sure Cornell would've struggled with some of Serj's stuff.
He sounds so much better than the first time I heard him do it. Like a Stone is a tricky key to sing in if your range is just a smidge higher than it's written.

I saw Tom just a month ago, and he did "like a stone" to Chris's vocal track. There may or may not have been 25k crying slobbering messes there, singing along as best we could. 😔
I went to Rock on the Range last year (same gig, different name) but couldn't make it this year. Thank you for capturing such a magical moment. Just wish I could've seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears.
To put into perspective of how beautifully this was set up. I knew: - Serj did this at the Memorial Concert - System was playing that day - Morello and Serj are close And was still completely surprised because they didn’t have any vocals sung for the entire 20-25 minutes before this (the only vocals were background vocals on screen behind Morello), and his guitar work, original material, and Rage teasers were that much fun. I was so completely immersed in the show that I had forgotten all of what I knew and just saw Serj pop up and freaked the fuck out. Not only did I get to see the last remaining 90s/00s mainstream band I could hope to see, I even got a snippet from the one band I never got to see that I wish I could have from that era.
