This is so accurate! This happened to me one time. I have astigmatism and been wearing glasses for years now. I have 180-200 eyesight which is quite bad since the normal eyesight should be 20-20. I was hanging out with my cousin and her friends and there was this girl who is OBSESSED with selfie and taking pictures of herself. She was wearing a really cute dress that day and decided to do a little bit of photoshoot for her ig. She saw my glasses and said that it matches with her otd (since i chose a really cute frame that could match a casual ot fancy outfit since i don't want to remove it when I'm attending a special occasion). She was insistent in to borrowing it and i was a bit hesitant because she doesn't look like someone who would handle a prescription glasses with care. She then started saying bs about it not being real since my frames are too pretty to be a prescription glasses. I eventually gave it to her. I knew that she would hurt her eye but I didn't warn her. Safe to say that I might have given her an indirect punch to the eye. So much for calling my glasses fake.
I only wear reading glasses of a “strength” and I can’t understand why people always want to look through them and try them on. It’s like wanting to borrow a paraplegics wheelchair to “just go for a spin.”
As a glasses wearer: - there’s no goddam way you’re touching my glasses, even just to “try them on” 😂 - I have no idea what my prescription is! - I can’t remember if I’m long- or short-sighted. I’m “needs glasses”-sighted!
I've been wearing them for at least twice as long, and I have no idea about the exact prescription. I'd just hand over the glasses and get the person to have a peek through, which to them just be as trippy as in Julie's video. And the opticians usually give you a little card with the prescription, so I could check there. Or I point at some large writing on the wall and go " See that? I can't read that from here without my glasses!"
The secret (to not getting sent to the funny farm) is having lights and a camera there. As an old saying goes, “If you have sex for money with no camera in the room, you’re a prostitute and you can be jailed. But if you have sex for money with a camera running, you’re acting, and it’s art.”

As someone who wore glasses/contacts for over 3 decades, I have to say....get better doctors. Never had that problem. Hell, with contacts it's printed right on every part of the containers.

When Julie gets pregnant Julie: so...I’m pregnant Also Julie: is that a new haircut? Julie: yes..do you want to know the gender? Also Julie: so where did you get this haircut? Julie: seriously?
I bought fake glasses to try to be cool, but it turns out they are actually blue light cancelling glasses and they're pretty awesome. So now we all have a good excuse to wear fake eye glasses for fashion! Just say "Oh, they're UV ray cancelling glasses to reduce stress and headaches". You're welcome.
I'm legally blind (minus 20 on both eyes) and these people who wear fake glasses drive me nuts. 😂 One girl actually admitted to me that she does it to look smarter and to impress others. I'm half jealous that she can just take them off at will and half unimpressed at her lack of authenticity. Thanks for raising awareness, whether or not that was the point. 😜 On the other hand, it's equally annoying to be questioned about my vision because I "don't look that blind". The holding up fingers, the ask to try on the glasses, the discomfort at actually having them on and being freaked out about how trippy it is to look through them...you've captured all of that here. Absolutely brilliant. Part of the genius of your work lies not only in portraying different characters convincingly with one actor, but portraying two competing issues through a single actor, in a single skit. Your character portrayal is deep and complex and you always manage to make both people look human. Both equally flawed. Both equally loved and hated. Nobody is better or worse. Just amazing. I think you're really going to go far. :-) xo
Every video you post makes me smile. You're so damn funny and talented and my favorite to watch talking to herself. You're funny with other ppl, but funniest just by yourself. Beautiful mind...infectious energy...and completely adorbs to boot! Thank you for you Julie!
This is a great example of how delivery and timing makes the joke. Nothing here is really inherently funny (the overall premise is) but the timing and delivery are perfect, and that's what makes it brilliant.
I think the reason red-shirt Julie had trouble pronouncing "astigmatism" is that she was trying to pronounce it with the British English spelling, which contains a "u" somewhere. The other Julie was pronouncing the American English version, so she was able to avoid that problem.
I speak using British English and you're 100% wrong about there being a 'u' somewhere. Not for nothing but I'm pretty sure she's Canadian and Canadians use British English.
Going to be real honest, I can never remember my glasses prescription. Also, a friend and I swapped glasses because we were bored once. We were both surprised to see we have near identical prescriptions.
Julie, thank you so much not only for your cool videos, but also for inserting subtitles in them. Since English is not my first language, the subtitles help me a lot to understand some parts that my ear couldn't catch.
I have convergence insufficiency, my left eye is a little wall eyed. My prescription is basically just prism. I see double every once in a while specifically when I’m tired. Some days I need them more than other. I can go weeks or even months without wearing them.
I wear glasses every day except when working offshore. It pisses me off when someone with perfect eyesight wears fake glasses. Why can’t I have perfect eyesight dammit!!
nictheartist On some shows they don’t even put glass in. I think the guy that wears glasses on “Big Bang Theory” started out with glass lenses and then switched to no lenses. I think the reflection of the glass is an issue.
When you don't usually wear your glasses in public, but this one occassion you wore your glasses, their first reaction is always: I didn't know you wear glasses, did you get contact lens?
Julie: when people wear fake glasses for style it's cool. But it's stupid if you do it in real life Me: Miss Julie, YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO PUNCH ME IN THE FACEEE😂
This was so satisfying to watch. When she got overwhelmed by the glasses it felt like a personal victory. Oh, and I can never remember my prescription and always blank out when anyone asks.
I'm not sure if I'm seeing correctly (pun intended) but there is some distortion with her face contour in the lens so those might be real (maybe not made for her though, just borrowed, who knows?). I myself have -1.5 in both eyes (EU standard). I can walk around the city without glasses but have to squint to see bus/tram numbers. I'm slightly above the limit to be required to wear glasses/contacts while driving. Apparently it translates to 20/13 vision for US purposes.

@@ElementalWhispers very cool. I discovered Foil Arms and Hog some time in 2019. But Julia appeared on my feed only with the "explaining the pandemic to my past self" video 😄
Glad you enjoy it!
This channel was the best thing I've ever found on RUclips, thanks Julie, love from Portugal ! ❤️🇵🇹
Wow, thank you!
Julie wears glasses
Me: WhO aRe YoU?
Btw you look cute in glasses:)
lol
Your acting is brutally outstanding! You can feel they are two completely different persons. Yeah, both beautiful but different.
I let a friend try on my glasses once, she looked up at the sky and said she could see the International Space Station!
Lol
"I don't know... Umm... I don't want that... that anymore... I don't want that anymore..." 🤣
The questioning reminds me of visiting my wife's family. Father in law was an optometrist, sister works in ophthalmic dispensary.
Day sucks.
"New Julie vid!"
Day no longer sucks.
My glasses are so strong, I once looked at a map and saw people waving back...

The glasses do suit you though 😍
thanks!!!
Totally can't relate as someone who is blind as a bat without her glasses 🙈😂 at this point it's practically attached to my body! Lol!
Do you put your glasses on to go to the bathroom at night? I reach for mine then realize this is the one time my vision is the same as everyone else.
@@CJ-fn4yn I'm very, very short sighted, to the point where they give me free eye tests. But I can make out useful shapes in near darkness. It's not like cat vision, but I can find my way around in near darkness reasonably well. Just don't expect me to identify stuff too far away.
“What’s your prescription”
Ohhhh boy do I have a rant for you about how Eye doctors keep that shit secret so that you buy glasses from them instead of online. You straight up have to demand it to get the proper info to buy them online. Hell, I buy them online and even I don't remember off hand.
As someone who wore glasses/contacts for over 3 decades, I have to say....get better doctors. Never had that problem. Hell, with contacts it's printed right on every part of the containers.
You've had weird doctors. Over 30 years mine have always given the prescription immediately after the exam.
@@jeebus2121 The only thing that wasn't on the prescription was the pupil distance. A quick search of my file and they gave me everything I needed to order glasses online.
I stopped wearing my glasses when I realised I had seen everything worth seeing.
😅😅
😂 "Now I can happily go blind as a mole."
This is one of only about three channels that I upvote immediately, and then watch. And I'm right every single time.
When Julie gets pregnant
Julie: so...I’m pregnant
Also Julie: is that a new haircut?
Julie: yes..do you want to know the gender?
Also Julie: so where did you get this haircut?
Julie: seriously?
I bought fake glasses to try to be cool, but it turns out they are actually blue light cancelling glasses and they're pretty awesome.
So now we all have a good excuse to wear fake eye glasses for fashion!
Just say "Oh, they're UV ray cancelling glasses to reduce stress and headaches". You're welcome.
Any tips on being such a great actress? You're so talented!!
lotsa practice :P
Watch the video she posted before it has a lot of amazing tips on how to act amazingly
Fake glasses.
On the other hand, it's equally annoying to be questioned about my vision because I "don't look that blind".
Glasses wearer here, just now realizing that I can't remember what my prescription is. 😂
In pestering co-worker tone: "Hmmm, are you going to do a vid about your arm tattoos?"
Can we just talk about how she can just switch between different personalities? She's amazing
This is a great example of how delivery and timing makes the joke. Nothing here is really inherently funny (the overall premise is) but the timing and delivery are perfect, and that's what makes it brilliant.
I imagined this same sketch in an ASK HIGH JULIE segment and almost peed myself from laughter
"I like your glasses. What are the frames made of?"
"Monkey's Paw."
These are the kind of interactions I miss from going to the office. (I’m the one quizzing the other on whether or not the glasses are real)
You must be a joy to work with!
You sound like a pain tbh
I think the reason red-shirt Julie had trouble pronouncing "astigmatism" is that she was trying to pronounce it with the British English spelling, which contains a "u" somewhere. The other Julie was pronouncing the American English version, so she was able to avoid that problem.
Whaut
I speak using British English and you're 100% wrong about there being a 'u' somewhere. Not for nothing but I'm pretty sure she's Canadian and Canadians use British English.
This may or may not be the point of my joke. :)
Cody Fouts, ohhhhh, so now it's a joke because it ended up not making much sense. Gotcha.
“What’s your prescription?”
Xanax.................Lots and lots of delicious Xanax!
LoL
Best randomly discovered youtuber
Going to be real honest, I can never remember my glasses prescription.
Also, a friend and I swapped glasses because we were bored once. We were both surprised to see we have near identical prescriptions.
She’s giving me major Jennifer Aniston Vibes..
you mean rachel green
Tina Fey
Nah Julie's way hotter than Jennifer Aniston
There's a word in German "Fremdschämen". It means, feeling ashamed for some one else. This video gave me that. :-D
German has some super specific words.
Yes, one of them is Rindfleischettikierungsüberwachungsgesetz and it means exactly what it says.
Translation is to cringe
The dancing skeletons and that creepy music! I can’t... lol
Julie, thank you so much not only for your cool videos, but also for inserting subtitles in them. Since English is not my first language, the subtitles help me a lot to understand some parts that my ear couldn't catch.
Lollllll that ending caught me so off guard 😂😂😂
Me just finishing doing an ultrasound when I start this: "SHE MENTIONED MY PROFESSION!!"
4:10 When I’m given any responsibility.
You're rocking those glasses! Don't let any other Julie tell you different, even mirror Julie ;) started choking with alt. Julie put on glasses.
This look (with the black outfit) is SOOOO GOOOOOOOD. You look GORGEOUS!
I have convergence insufficiency, my left eye is a little wall eyed. My prescription is basically just prism. I see double every once in a while specifically when I’m tired.
Some days I need them more than other. I can go weeks or even months without wearing them.
I've had glasses most of my life and I have never known my prescription. All I know is I'm REALLY short sighted.🤣🤣
Work on that, it's better to think long term hhaha
I don’t know why people want glasses. They’re a legit responsibility, and without them say goodbye to eyesight.
Due to an infection I can't wear contacts and laser surgery is expensive. Not everyone WANTS glasses. Everyone needs to see clearly.
I wear glasses every day except when working offshore. It pisses me off when someone with perfect eyesight wears fake glasses. Why can’t I have perfect eyesight dammit!!
I was gobsmacked when a friend said he WANTED to wear glasses, because he thought it was cool. It's not if you're blind as a bat.
@@seanriley1603 You can always tell in the movies, because the lenses are perfectly flat.
nictheartist On some shows they don’t even put glass in. I think the guy that wears glasses on “Big Bang Theory” started out with glass lenses and then switched to no lenses. I think the reflection of the glass is an issue.
Maybe I should start to walk around with a fake hearing aid in my ear
These two work so well together.
When you don't usually wear your glasses in public, but this one occassion you wore your glasses, their first reaction is always: I didn't know you wear glasses, did you get contact lens?
And that's how I pronounce "stigmatism" exactly...
I’m so glad I found your RUclips account during quarantine 😂
"What's your prescription?"
I don't even know mine... all I know is that I'm blind without my glasses.
That was a Keegan and Peele worthy dark twist ending to a comedy sketch.
I have stegosaurs vision. It’s the worst everyone tells me so.
This is so stinking real this hits me on such a different level the problem. Is. REAL
Julie: when people wear fake glasses for style it's cool. But it's stupid if you do it in real life
Me: Miss Julie, YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO PUNCH ME IN THE FACEEE😂
