I went to Tromso March 1-4 this year and saw the most amazing northern lights! The guides said it was the best of the year by far because I guess it's been quite cloudy. it was the final leg of a 2 week long trip around norway, so I already have reason to return to southern norway in the summer and back to Tromso maybe for New Years!
Yes, this year it has not been a great season for the NL yet.. not much activity and bad weather, but happy you saw them! Southern Norway is amazing as well 😍
Can you suggest some good b&b, cab/taxi companies, northern lights tour companies. I am visiting from India in november and it will be very helpful. Thank you
I plan to visit Tromso in March 2025 to explore Aurora (Northern Lights). I can not stand with too cold weather in December until February. Thank you for your great video.
Hi there, I need your help making a decision through this question...What does the northern lights look like with the naked eye when you went there on December when you saw a peak intensity (KPI of 10)??? How green are the lights? Would you compare the hue or saturation of the lights through your eyes (not w the camera) the same as what the March northern lights looks like on the camera? I'm asking because I experienced northern lights here in Washington, USA in spring 2024 but through my naked eye the lights only look gray haze w only a slight tint or shade of green but the video looks about the same as your March northern lights @11:12 Thank you in advance!
I went to Tromsø the first week of October 2023. I saw both Autumn and winter in one week. I would recommend going to see the Autumn colours. The Aurora was also visible. Funnily, i was also there in March 2022 and was watching the snowball fight near the reindeer hotdog hut. Will have to check to see if I'm in the background :-)
I'm doing Christmas in Tromsø this year. I expect to see the lights, but I also hope that whale watching will turn out OK even though there is very little light.
Hey we are planning to visit Tromso from 21st to 27th January, any idea if we will be able to see the NL? And is it the right time to go? Or should we visit Lapland instead
Hai. Do you booked some packages for seeing northern lights? And also how you managed to get accommodation. I feel it is too expensive for stay. Could you please be so kind to give some suggestions
@ there are no packages as far as I know, you just pay for the excursion. And yes, accommodation is unfortunately expensive as it’s getting a very popular destination.. hope some other viewers can give you better suggestions, sorry not to be able to help more!
Hi, I will be going to Tromso this coming Dec. For Northern Lights tours, you recommend Tromsø Friluftsenter tour company? Is it the best among the rest? Any other tour company other than this? How's about Amazing Arctic and Norwegian Travel Tour company? Any thought or other recommendation?
Thank you for the very informative video. It's definitely on my bucket list. I've been to Iceland three times and loved it. But I would love to see the fjords my dream would be to drive from Bergen to Tromso. But I think the gas prices in the vehicle rental would be pretty expensive. I would love to be able to rent a van and just sleep in the van. Anyways it's on my dreaming list.
We will be in Tromso Feb 4 - Feb 10 in 2025. Hopefully we will see the Northern Lights. We will also be in Longyearbyen Feb 10 - Feb 14, then back to Oslo for 3 days.
I like that you mention the moon, but what you said was factually incorrect... We have the same moon faces that the rest of the world even when the sun is under the horizon. But what no one mentions is that you shouldn't not travel to see the northern lights when its a full moon or close to because the light from the moon "washes" out the aurora borealis. It doesn't mean its impossible to see but it have to bee stronger to be visible. So check the moon faces before you book a trip.
That statement did bug me a bit too, had to check I'm not missing something in my astronomy knowledge and coming back here you already wrote the comment for me.

its impossible to see north lights in Tromso, i visited from 17.03.2024 to 24.03.2024 and all days was cloudy. i think in tromso/lofoten is 365 Days/Year cloudy, sad country
I was there for a total of 9 days (divided into 2 visits and i saw them 6 days … and it was cloudy on day.. it’s just the weather when you went, not all year around.
How many days should i stay in tromso if i want to See the northern lights in december and which Agent did you use to go See the northernlights Please… thank you
@suraiyaabdulsamad7363 you cannot predict the northern lights.. you could be there one day and see them and be there one week and not see them at all… I recommend Tromsø Friluftssenter
Please recommend some b&b and rental car agency and also Northern lights hunting tour companies. I’m travelling a very long distance from India to see the northwrn lights in november and this will be very helpful.

Weather won’t be warmer in March 😂

This has been the best video I’ve watched about the northern lights yet, thanks for all the information!
Glad to hear this ! ☺️

Very good idea actually! Must be beautiful with the autumn colors!

Clarion Hotel Aurora was great. Car hire was via Hertz and the Nortern lights tour was via Nortern Horizon.
I'm doing Christmas in Tromsø this year. I expect to see the lights, but I also hope that whale watching will turn out OK even though there is very little light.
I booked yesterday I’m going 13th-17th December 🙌🏻😎❄️
Is September last week a good time to go? Weather is warmer and northern lights are good as well... during the equinox...
It always depends on the solar activity! It’s the start of the time to see the northern light.
Beaitiful😊😊
Hi. How about first week of December for northern lights in tromso. I am planning to book.
From September to March it’s always Northern lights season, it just depends on the solar activity!
For someone who can’t stand too much cold which month is better for seeing the aurora Nov or March.
November!

It depends on the solar activity and unfortunately you can’t predict that, neither in Tromsø nor in Lapland!
How about in November of this year in tromso ?
Hey, thank you! I have booked for 17-21dec 2024.
Update: I changed the flight from 17 to 24 now.
Best time to be there! Enjoy!

i'm planning coming march that's how ended up on your video
hi, goin to visit tromso in 20 to 28 december 2024, any chance to see the aurora? tq
Depends on the weather and solar activity, which you cannot predict in advance !

@Italianabroad is it so cold there?

@Italianabroad is it possible to stay in the airport or will it be closed?
hi. is the northern lights often? i can’t find information. in february next year i want to go. would it be lights or no. or is based on pure luck?

As long as there are some dark hours and solar activity, then it’s always a good month !
