Artillery in War Thunder... it's pretty fun even if there's no real game mechanic that allows it to be used really effectively... so today I joined Spookston with a lineup of German Tanks that were used as Artillery in real life to see if we could get any sort of success.
Using the Sturmtiger as Artillery is pretty fun but it's not nearly as fun as when you use it to point blank delete the enemy out of existence.
Which is exactly what we did today! :)

There really is nothing more satisfying than seeing a zone start to change hands, casually yeet your barrel-o-fun at the zone in question, and something you never saw just dies horribly in the explosion. Almost guaranteed first strikes, too.

I got to hear about when you shot under that SPAA when I saw the companion video on Spookston's channel and I couldn't wait to see how that happened. That's the kind of shot that would be almost impossible to do if you tried.
On the topic of artillery, I hope gaijin adds the T40/M17 Whizbang soon enough.
Its like a calliope except the rockets have about 20 kg of TNTe instead of 2 kg, but you only get 20 instead of 60 rockets.

I’ve been watching a lot of the old and new stuff (I’m new ish to the channel) an I’m really enjoying how thing have changed with time, the old and new intros are both fantastic from a viewer standpoint but I can tell you’re having fun with the cinematic style an it works really well. Bo Time did a video with that event Russian rocket truck from a couple months ago. Were actually doing a spotter and proper indirect fire from their spawn. Spotter would drop a squad mark on a target, trucks would launch one, spotter would correct fire, battery fire would commence. Was one of the most awesome things I've seen in WT. Someone actually using artillery as artillery instead of some weird tank destroyer.
There used to be a game called Battlefield 1942. One of the things I loved about it was all the mods. Many with bots. My 5 year old son and I would hop into a Dingo armoured car, and with him manning the Bren on top, we would scream around the map running over bots.

its odd that this thing gets an artificial rangefinder when it has barely any drop, but the AVRE and M728 dont get them and have drop so bad the 400m mark is almost not even visible in the sight.

I only recently really started playing my sturmtiger. It hated it when it was 6.3 but at 5.7 it's the Lord of Trolls. On certain maps in certain situations it is simply terrifying. Any map where you can get big multi vehicle pile ups you can just annihilate the other team. Lastnight, I managed a 5 and a 6 kill shot on Advance to the Rhine. Certain maps have great spots with good visibility where you can hull down and just drop those giant rockets all over the place. The rangefinder is quick and if you wait for those perfect moments it's just hilarious. It's even better at long range because it ignores terrain and obsticles. You can arc in over buildings and even hills.

Hey Odd, love your videos, would you consider making a video on the british charioteer tank? its one of my favourites in the game :) even with inconsistent apds damage the armor penetration is pretty amazing at 6.3 and the tank can really surprise positively, and is a joy to work with, especially against german teams

I have been binging on your back catalog and have come to the conclusion that not continuing with WT after a hand full of games saved me from a lot of upset. I have no idea how you (and people like Phly) can spot a slightly different shade of green pixel against a green background and perfectly identify the tank and range and send them back to the garage. As for spitting things playing CAS well that's just fucking magic right there. I am watching on a 55" tv playing the vids at 0.25 speed and I still struggle 🤣🤣

Gameplay: Player 1 scouts, and tells the distance with its laser range finder to Player 2, and Player 2 can snipe.👍
Note: the Wiesel 1A4 now has gen 3 thermals for some reason 💀💀.
Hey I was wondering if you could take out the la 9 and showcase its tank destroying capabilities. The 23mils don't have the most pen, but it's enough and they can destroy anything lightly armored on the top. I can consistently take out 4 or 5 tanks with it, even with the limited ammo. Russia is great at 6.3 as well, so there's plenty to pair it with.

@oddbawz | I'm curious about your audio setup, did u ever try to increase the samplerate on the outputchannel? It tends to widen the soundstage, resulting in a much better seperation between sounds .... depending on the rest of your setup of corse.
I can't belive the luck you have in thses clips (Yes I know it takes time to get the fotage like this) I just simply die in these situasions :P

BawZ, pleaae try out ASU85 I had very fun time using it on a bigger maps, you can kill anything you face from the front but you are gone if they see you, it has a rangefinder so you can accurately shoot at a target atany range, it has good mobility, low profile and only 4° of gun depression so its challenging to use on hilly terrain
