A bit ahead of myself in terms of BR but I am looking forward to some long range ATGM shenanigans. Picked up the Challenger DS too. Perhaps not the best premium pack but as a UK main it's a good grinder next to the Rooikat 105.
The ammo staying in after shooting is a shared problem with the m901. When it shoots its first atgm, it disappears from the tube and can't be ammo racked, however when you shoot the second one, it not only doesn't go away, but the first one instantly respawns. That thing gets ammo racked non stop.
That isn't even close to the worst of gaijin's ammo damage models, BM-13N, BM-8-24, Calliope, and M26 T99 all deplete completely inverse of how the visual model shows it. Katyusha for example shoots from the top left first, and depletes left to right, top to bottom. The damage model depletes right to left, bottom to top. Don't even get me started on 15 cm Pz.W.42, it depletes the first set of ammo properly, but after it reloads the damage model for the ammo never moves to the turret; it stays in the hull, depleting front to back as you fire.
The tank needs a lot of fixing. Explosion needs audio Should have the 7-8m kill zone like the 250kg bombs do After firing, your breach should be unloaded until a new round is loaded. Misc collision bugs.

Shooting an Sd.Kfz half expecting to get a tiny shell heading back to you, only to be surprised by the magical flying dustbin rapidly approaching must be the most terrifying iteration of "don't talk to me or my son again" I've ever seen.
The round on this should function like a bomb of equivalent mass honestly. Including an appropriate guaranteed kill radius, and fragment dispersion radius. If you dont kill someone you should atleast spot everyone within range and LOS of the explosion just like a bomb does. Plus firing this point blank would also kill you and the guaranteed kill radius would also avoid bullshit hits like hitting a tank directly and having it do nothing. In general Gaijin appears to have fucked up HE rounds anyway, my T30's 155mm HE is not killing things in spots it used to and hell now it doesnt even do damage in those same spots most of the time.

my favorite part about this event besides the vehicle itself is how much easier theyve made it to obtain for most players. Acquiring a set amount of score across essentially 2 days per medal is much more feasible to your average player than getting large numbers of assists or kills or caps etc.
yeah, it's actually really really nice. though it seems they've hit the vehicle balance hard/simply were lazy to make sure we don't enjoy the obtainable vehicle too much lol
The way you get event vehicles now is pretty good yeah, but the problem is that now theyre doing events so bloody often. I like to play different games, but when theres an event going in WT every other month? i start to find less and less time to play anything else.
Still impossible for obtain for people that have more than 7 hours of work/school per day and then other shit to do. Even the easier event still requires people to not have a life which isn't very good

I agree with odds decision, puma decided not to utilize their tank correctly. If you choose to basically waste spawns (puma at 6.3-7.3) and not actually utilize a mechanic (scouting) in said vehicle... when you are shooting at 6.3 tanks with a gun that will not pen. Interfering with positioning of other teammates, you deserve to be treated like the bot/rat you are.
for the plane shot. without being able to go back an look at the in game replay but i think your shot was perfectly timed. I dont think gaijen has worked out all kinks with this beast yet to say the least
Gaijin didn't make the damage model very well, I hope they buff it, it needs to deal damage in a 50m radius or something, increasing the damage the closer u get to the center of the explosion

One of the things I like about you Odd is that you point out the strengths and weaknesses of a tank whenever a new one comes out. Cause I have a minimal client, I can’t see what’s strong or not on tanks I don’t have. Been playing the Brumbar almost exclusively in AB to grind the Sturmtiger challenges. Stick to team-mates and one-shot anyone brave enough to push you. So much fun.
Quite a lot of the armor isn’t really modeled. That ventilation hatch on the front right corner of the superstructure roof basically isn’t there, you can even place decorations inside of it. Just for once it’d be nice if Gaijin didn’t rush something…
Genuinely funny that you are firing a dustbin sized projectile at a vehicle, missing and still getting the kill, now all you gotta try and do is perform a mid air rapid disassembly of an aircraft. Awesome vid as usual!
I'd never think of this as rubbish, just like the Brummbar or KV-2 aren't rubbish. Sure, they're balanced in a different way, but none of them are overpowered. And the Sturmtiger isn't either. It's just very, uhh... feast or famine.
Exactly, due to the long reload they are all actually not very practical since you can be more devastating with "normal" tanks. I see these as absolute meme machines and I love it!

You exchange more firepower for the longer reload and with the exception of the weakspot, you also have really good armor. But all 3 are usually one hit kills, your ammorack just blows up if someone stares at you. The downside of these Derps
@@nicz7694 I understand trading reload for a bigger derp, but I have to disagree with you in regards to the armor. 50mm roof, 80mm sides, and a massive frontal weakspot which negates the front entirely and can kill you via machineguns. The kv 2 comparatively has way better armor, being able to withstand 2-3 shots usually pretty easily, and even bounce a few. And the brumbarr is almost impenetrable from the front in a downtier, and still solid in an uptier. To be honest though, even if it had good armor, it still wouldn´t be worthy of 6.3. The brumbarr or Kv for example still one shot anything they face, and have good armor, but that doesn´t make them worthy of 6.3 Because that´s the point to be fair, they still one shot things while having a better reload, better armor...etc. So to be fair, not much difference if you hit people with a 9kg or with a 130kg, they still explode, the only difference would be being able to overpressure tanks at 3-5 meters distance from the target, but that 50 sec reload and 250 ms/s velocity more than makes up for it. I can understand maybe 5.3 to make up for the big derp gun, but not much more.
@@danielzaba9913 As long as you hide the gun barrel you have pretty good armor. I have been quite successful to bounce a lot of shells by not directly showing the barrel opening to the enemy. Most shells don't connect to the interior this way. Its not as bad as people think. Obviously you should NOT smile at people with this large hole in your armor directly. But yes, 6.3 is quite high for it. Maybe as you said, 5.3 would be better but I would also be fine with 6.0 or 5.7 Atleast something Maybe they lower it down, we dont know. But as long as you can hide the big hole, by angling a bit or hiding it behind obstackles, these +220mm frontal armor is no joke. If you angle a bit, showing not so much of your side and but still make it hard to shoot into your barrel, you can easily become impenetable with about +300mm of effective armor. Just don't let people rush you. As you said, the reload is just too long. Better play this thing in a Squad with friends
I suppose it's not so much accuracy, as with enough shots I could zero it in. It's the patience to not just Rambo it and get himself killed. I have always preferred the run n gun playstyle with quick reload, lighter tanks and just don't have the patience and first shot accuracy to play these types of vehicles.
the initial shell from an artillery barrage is louder than the 380mm of the sturm. the arty shell sounds like a massive boulder slamming into the side of a mountain.

Actually in the Sturmtiger's case, the New Shell after firing resembles the first stage ammo. You carry 14 Rounds: 12 in the ammo rack, 1 in the barrel and the last on the loading tray. The one we see after firing resembles the shell that is loading from the tray into the barrel. I know that is frustrating but thats how the ammo was "stored"
This thing is going to be a collector item if they dont fix it, which is so sad given how much people wanted this for so long. That thing has as much HE filler as a 500lb bomb that has a 12m insta Kill radius (regardless of armor) + the extra explosive material from leftover rocket fuel and stuff (possibly depending on range). I pray that they do the following 5 tings to make this a "usable" premium. 1) Give it its historic extra armor plate on the lower hull (it was bolt on armor like they did on the panzer 3/4 tanks). It's combat weight reflected in game is based on the tank with the plate being mounted. The tank had it's suspension modified in the front to help account for all this front end weight due to bolt in armor (and the structure), you can tell by the different road wheel layout compared to normal tiger. So they either need to make it lighter, or give it it's armor plate. 2) Fix the rocket propelled mortar shell so it kills,,, literally anything with a direct hit, and kills anything (including the Sturntiger itself) if the mortar shell lands within like 10-12m. It should be using the bomb mechanics at this point. It also needs its amount & range of fragment dispersion drastically increased. I have seen literally every single RUclipsr that has this thing, having issues with the shell doing nothing multiple times per video with direct hits. I saw a video of a bt-5 being shot in the track.... And it did nothing.... Like.... Idk how gaigin messed it up this badly .. but it needs to be fixed for this tank to be consistent and more fun. 3) Give it its historic commander rangefinder, and fix the ranging so the shell drop matches the sighting distance (its about 100m off what your rangefinder says due to drop) 4) Reduce its BR to like 5.7 territory since its currently in cold war tank territory with APDS, AGTM and stabilizers. 5) Remove the shell in the barrel bug after you fired. Currently it stays modeled in, so if you fire it, and don't kill the guy, he can machine gun (or cannon) the shell that is still "there" in the barrel and blow you up.
False this thing has a 7-8m kill radius which it is meant to have, I have no clue where you got 12m kill radius seeing as the 500lb bombs only have a 9m kill radius, and while yes this thing has a similar explosive mass to a 500lb bomb, it does not have the same TNT equiv. a 500lb bomb has 162 kgs of TNT equiv. explosive mass, this only has 135kgs, so a 500lb bomb has 30kgs more of TNT equiv. so they are not the same, regardless you are mixing that up with the 1000lb bomb which has a kill radius of 12m but also has 318 kgs of TNT explosive mass, regardless this thing has about as much explosive mass as a German 125kg bomb, so no, that explosion is accurate.
@@aflyingcowboy31 I might be alittle off on the radius, if I'm wrong ok (I'm not at my pc to check) , but the point is that its shell is not working correctly due to the HE shell system being different than the bomb system. They should change this thing to the bomb system since it has a similar amount of he filler (a shit ton my tank cannon comparisons) and should be creating a significantly larger blast wave, and ammount of shrapnel. I have seen this thing land its shell like 5m away from the Russian milk truck, and not kill it because the shrapnel missed and the wave didn't overpressure.
@@Orvis25 All bombs work off the HE/overpressure system, the 83mm you are seeing is what Gaijin claims a 132kg explosive mass missile can pen, the German 125kg bomb pens 82mms of armour so they are not different, a 500lb bomb doesn't even kill a MAUS unless it is a direct hit, there is no current difference between this missile and a German 125kg bomb in regards to how they work in game. "I have seen this thing land its shell like 5m away from the Russian milk truck, and not kill it because the shrapnel missed and the wave didn't overpressure." Then that is just a Gaijin moment, because in this video he killed a M6A1 from a couple meters away, and did you also not see at 8:00 where he killed a Jumbo that wasn't even close the the where the round hit? the missile is working as intended.

A plane is significantly more useful since it can not only fight other aircraft, but can pick and choose any target it wants with it's payload, at any angle, and in a way where the plane is usually at zero risk if having return fire put on it. Not to mention it's main armeant (it's guns/cannons), depending on the vehicle, can also take out multiple targets from top down attacks. From a useability and practicality standpoint, they are not at all equal even if they share one specific thing in similarity.

I’ve realized quickly that no matter what you get screwed by Germany ( at 6.3) either Germany wipes the floor with your team or the Germans on your team are all brain dead.
Another thing about the armor on that tank any British tank around that br will usually be carrying their anti-emplacement shell which pins through that frontal plate like butter
pro tip 1while reloading aim your gun straight up so ppl don't shoot down your barrel 2 the crater from your rockets are just big enough to fit the Strumtiger

Watched one dude totally nullify Phly by machine gunning constantly AT the barrel, he didn't get the kill right away, instead it detonated the shell the SECOND he fired it, leaving him nekkid for the other guy to finish eventually. Won't take long before this thing is a liability as it will be known how to beat it (don't get hit by it).
Big brain play: 1. Unlock your favorite German tank. 2. Intentionally play like ass until Gaijin drops the BR. 3. Proceed to club seals with a tank that has no business fighting inter-war vehicles. Repeat as necessary.
I like how it is possible to be hit by this shell and not die, and on the other hand I had a game earlier where a maus fired a 75mm HEAT into the gun mantlet of my super conqueror and overpressured my entire crew without even penetrating any armour.

My noob opinion on this would be: lower br to 5.3~5.7 add some sick sound on the explosion, like that "EEEEEEEEEEEE" noise like in the movies when something exploded nearby reduces reload to 40ish seconds with ace crew or remove the back shell that is right behind the barrel change the mortar to be more like a plane bomb instead of regular HE with radius of destruction ~5m
Been playing the Maus lately because, why not. Same issues, loads of of idiots spend half the match just screwing with you... Maus isn't fast but thank god she can't be shoved, coerced, or cajoled to go anywhere by someone else but the driver. Once you make a hood ornament of them, they're there till we hit a hill or the enemy makes spaced armor out of them. Used a Tiger on Alaska that way...good stuff.

Been playing the Brumbar almost exclusively in AB to grind the Sturmtiger challenges. Stick to team-mates and one-shot anyone brave enough to push you. So much fun.
Quite a lot of the armor isn’t really modeled. That ventilation hatch on the front right corner of the superstructure roof basically isn’t there, you can even place decorations inside of it. Just for once it’d be nice if Gaijin didn’t rush something…

I'd never think of this as rubbish, just like the Brummbar or KV-2 aren't rubbish. Sure, they're balanced in a different way, but none of them are overpowered. And the Sturmtiger isn't either. It's just very, uhh... feast or famine.
Exactly, due to the long reload they are all actually not very practical since you can be more devastating with "normal" tanks.
I see these as absolute meme machines and I love it!
Except the KV 2 and brumbarr have actual armor, a better reload and are at 3.7 and 4.3
@@danielzaba9913 Well to be fair, the Sturmmörser is like an upgraded version of the StuPa IV. You exchange more firepower for the longer reload and with the exception of the weakspot, you also have really good armor. But all 3 are usually one hit kills, your ammorack just blows up if someone stares at you. The downside of these Derps
@@nicz7694 I understand trading reload for a bigger derp, but I have to disagree with you in regards to the armor. 50mm roof, 80mm sides, and a massive frontal weakspot which negates the front entirely and can kill you via machineguns. The kv 2 comparatively has way better armor, being able to withstand 2-3 shots usually pretty easily, and even bounce a few.
And the brumbarr is almost impenetrable from the front in a downtier, and still solid in an uptier.
To be honest though, even if it had good armor, it still wouldn´t be worthy of 6.3.
The brumbarr or Kv for example still one shot anything they face, and have good armor, but that doesn´t make them worthy of 6.3
Because that´s the point to be fair, they still one shot things while having a better reload, better armor...etc.
So to be fair, not much difference if you hit people with a 9kg or with a 130kg, they still explode, the only difference would be being able to overpressure tanks at 3-5 meters distance from the target, but that 50 sec reload and 250 ms/s velocity more than makes up for it.
I can understand maybe 5.3 to make up for the big derp gun, but not much more.
@@danielzaba9913 As long as you hide the gun barrel you have pretty good armor. I have been quite successful to bounce a lot of shells by not directly showing the barrel opening to the enemy. Most shells don't connect to the interior this way. Its not as bad as people think. Obviously you should NOT smile at people with this large hole in your armor directly.
But yes, 6.3 is quite high for it. Maybe as you said, 5.3 would be better but I would also be fine with 6.0 or 5.7

But as long as you can hide the big hole, by angling a bit or hiding it behind obstackles, these +220mm frontal armor is no joke.
If you angle a bit, showing not so much of your side and but still make it hard to shoot into your barrel, you can easily become impenetable with about +300mm of effective armor.
Just don't let people rush you. As you said, the reload is just too long. Better play this thing in a Squad with friends
Kudos to your accuracy with that thing. I can't hit the broadside of a barn with any of these "mortar tanks" and their sights.
Having a good crew helps. Accurate range estimates help, ntm he's an "old hand" at this game. The man gets streaks with locusts in modern vehicles.
I suppose it's not so much accuracy, as with enough shots I could zero it in. It's the patience to not just Rambo it and get himself killed. I have always preferred the run n gun playstyle with quick reload, lighter tanks and just don't have the patience and first shot accuracy to play these types of vehicles.

Gaijin has horrible ammo rack mechanics. Not only does Sturmtiger permanently have ammo in the barrel, even if you literally fired half a second prior, but BM-13N, BM-8-24, Calliope, and M26 T99 all deplete completely inverse of how the visual model shows it. Katyusha for example shoots from the top left first, and depletes left to right, top to bottom. The damage model depletes right to left, bottom to top. Don't even get me started on 15 cm Pz.W.42, it depletes the first set of ammo properly, but after it reloads the damage model for the ammo never moves to the turret; it stays in the hull, depleting front to back as you fire.
Actually in the Sturmtiger's case, the New Shell after firing resembles the first stage ammo.
You carry 14 Rounds: 12 in the ammo rack, 1 in the barrel and the last on the loading tray.
The one we see after firing resembles the shell that is loading from the tray into the barrel.
I know that is frustrating but thats how the ammo was "stored"
if u want realistic thing on that tank we can start fixing the reload time like 5 min to reload
This thing is going to be a collector item if they dont fix it, which is so sad given how much people wanted this for so long.
That thing has as much HE filler as a 500lb bomb that has a 12m insta Kill radius (regardless of armor) + the extra explosive material from leftover rocket fuel and stuff (possibly depending on range).
I pray that they do the following 5 tings to make this a "usable" premium.
1) Give it its historic extra armor plate on the lower hull (it was bolt on armor like they did on the panzer 3/4 tanks). It's combat weight reflected in game is based on the tank with the plate being mounted.
The tank had it's suspension modified in the front to help account for all this front end weight due to bolt in armor (and the structure), you can tell by the different road wheel layout compared to normal tiger. So they either need to make it lighter, or give it it's armor plate.
2) Fix the rocket propelled mortar shell so it kills,,, literally anything with a direct hit, and kills anything (including the Sturntiger itself) if the mortar shell lands within like 10-12m. It should be using the bomb mechanics at this point. It also needs its amount & range of fragment dispersion drastically increased.
I have seen literally every single RUclipsr that has this thing, having issues with the shell doing nothing multiple times per video with direct hits. I saw a video of a bt-5 being shot in the track.... And it did nothing.... Like.... Idk how gaigin messed it up this badly .. but it needs to be fixed for this tank to be consistent and more fun.
3) Give it its historic commander rangefinder, and fix the ranging so the shell drop matches the sighting distance (its about 100m off what your rangefinder says due to drop)
4) Reduce its BR to like 5.7 territory since its currently in cold war tank territory with APDS, AGTM and stabilizers.
5) Remove the shell in the barrel bug after you fired. Currently it stays modeled in, so if you fire it, and don't kill the guy, he can machine gun (or cannon) the shell that is still "there" in the barrel and blow you up.
False this thing has a 7-8m kill radius which it is meant to have, I have no clue where you got 12m kill radius seeing as the 500lb bombs only have a 9m kill radius, and while yes this thing has a similar explosive mass to a 500lb bomb, it does not have the same TNT equiv. a 500lb bomb has 162 kgs of TNT equiv. explosive mass, this only has 135kgs, so a 500lb bomb has 30kgs more of TNT equiv. so they are not the same, regardless you are mixing that up with the 1000lb bomb which has a kill radius of 12m but also has 318 kgs of TNT explosive mass, regardless this thing has about as much explosive mass as a German 125kg bomb, so no, that explosion is accurate.
@@aflyingcowboy31 I might be alittle off on the radius, if I'm wrong ok (I'm not at my pc to check) , but the point is that its shell is not working correctly due to the HE shell system being different than the bomb system. They should change this thing to the bomb system since it has a similar amount of he filler (a shit ton my tank cannon comparisons) and should be creating a significantly larger blast wave, and ammount of shrapnel. I have seen this thing land its shell like 5m away from the Russian milk truck, and not kill it because the shrapnel missed and the wave didn't overpressure.

@@Orvis25 All bombs work off the HE/overpressure system, the 83mm you are seeing is what Gaijin claims a 132kg explosive mass missile can pen, the German 125kg bomb pens 82mms of armour so they are not different, a 500lb bomb doesn't even kill a MAUS unless it is a direct hit, there is no current difference between this missile and a German 125kg bomb in regards to how they work in game.

Then that is just a Gaijin moment, because in this video he killed a M6A1 from a couple meters away, and did you also not see at 8:00 where he killed a Jumbo that wasn't even close the the where the round hit? the missile is working as intended.
@@ExcavationNation I assume this a a troll comment, but even if not why would they? A plane is significantly more useful since it can not only fight other aircraft, but can pick and choose any target it wants with it's payload, at any angle, and in a way where the plane is usually at zero risk if having return fire put on it. Not to mention it's main armeant (it's guns/cannons), depending on the vehicle, can also take out multiple targets from top down attacks. From a useability and practicality standpoint, they are not at all equal even if they share one specific thing in similarity.
With the amount of HE stuffed inside of there, you'd expect a Fallout Mini Nuke.

Another thing about the armor on that tank any British tank around that br will usually be carrying their anti-emplacement shell which pins through that frontal plate like butter
pro tip 1while reloading aim your gun straight up so ppl don't shoot down your barrel 2 the crater from your rockets are just big enough to fit the Strumtiger

Watched one dude totally nullify Phly by machine gunning constantly AT the barrel, he didn't get the kill right away, instead it detonated the shell the SECOND he fired it, leaving him nekkid for the other guy to finish eventually. Won't take long before this thing is a liability as it will be known how to beat it (don't get hit by it).

I like how it is possible to be hit by this shell and not die, and on the other hand I had a game earlier where a maus fired a 75mm HEAT into the gun mantlet of my super conqueror and overpressured my entire crew without even penetrating any armour.

My noob opinion on this would be:
lower br to 5.3~5.7
add some sick sound on the explosion, like that "EEEEEEEEEEEE" noise like in the movies when something exploded nearby
reduces reload to 40ish seconds with ace crew or remove the back shell that is right behind the barrel
change the mortar to be more like a plane bomb instead of regular HE with radius of destruction ~5m

Been playing the Maus lately because, why not. Same issues, loads of of idiots spend half the match just screwing with you... Maus isn't fast but thank god she can't be shoved, coerced, or cajoled to go anywhere by someone else but the driver. Once you make a hood ornament of them, they're there till we hit a hill or the enemy makes spaced armor out of them. Used a Tiger on Alaska that way...good stuff.
