I have had no luck finding snorkel options for this vehicle though. I went in a little too quick sometimes lol keep the water level below the headlights and you’ll be okay 👌

    I bought a 2018 Forester 2.5i base model that was leased, but it had a dealer installed package, which included aftermarket perforated leather seats, the wheels from the Premium model, splash guards, roof rails, and that plastic bumber guard thingy. It had 24k miles on it, and was only $18k. BEST decision ever. The thing is so damn capable and yet so comfortable to ride in on the highway. The CVT is a slowpoke but the gas mileage is incredible for a vehicle that’s as able to get out there as a Ford Explorer or Chevrolet Blazer were in the 1990s.

    Great video thanks for posting. I'm torn between this car and new rav4 adventure. I like both equally. But, new rav has some issues that are getting resolved other than fuel pump plaguing over 1M toyotas. But seems to perform well with new dtv awd system. So, do I got with Forester and potential windshield crack ( and down the road possible cvt/head gasket) and other small issues you hear about. How has your done and issues? It did great on these trails. I need a car than can do almost this, except the creek, on a daily basis as I drive pretty rough dirt roads 1/3 of the day and pavement the rest and I need the mileage of a compact suv rather than truck or jeep. The new Ford Bronco Sport is a candidate but it's new and bugs to work out and poor mileage and turbo down the road but it seems to be capable off road and good approach and departure angles but less cargo space than rav or forester. Lastley, the Honda passport is an option, great engine and tons of space but not as cool looking and less mileage and bigger and not as nimble. Decisions when spending at or over 30k of hard earned money and need a car to last reliably to 100k or more. Thanks for thoughts why you chose the Forest over others.

    • @TacoBluesdayVoodoo4rnr
      @TacoBluesdayVoodoo4rnr  3 года назад +3

      Alright so I bought mine used and it has been good to me. As long as you keep up with the maintenance it will last. I think a big factor in me choosing the forester, other than the turbo for fun on the streets, is the best in class ground clearance. I wanna say 8.7 inches of ground clearance from the factory. Also, Subaru has the legendary symmetrical awd system that’s works wonders and the x-mode comes in handy quite a bit. It doesn’t hurt that it looks good as well.

      Those head gasket issues you hear about subarus are for specifically the subarus that have the ej253 engine, other ej's like the ej255, or ej257 or the entire ej20 series dont have that 100% chance of a massive gasket issue, that was a design flaw in the ej253. Personally i reckon the ej207 is the best ej subaru has ever made, not as much power as the ej257 but is much stronger and more reliable

      As a Subaru owner 11Outback and 07 Forester. For undeniable reliability,get the Rav4 ADV and small! lift and enjoy it. It will run reliably more than Subaru and do so with cheap regular maintenance. Subaru are finicky when it comes to certain maintenance items. Always always change the oil at 3500 no matter what the manual says. They have some design flaws in the later engine series that will pop up if you go over 4k in oil changes...I have my fingers crossed for my cvt...so far its ok at 100k in the Outback...The Toyota motor is bomb proof...the transmission shifting issues are worked out now I believe.

    • @TacoBluesdayVoodoo4rnr
      @TacoBluesdayVoodoo4rnr  2 года назад +3

      Yeah absolutely it does. In terms of potential it might be a better option because you can fit smaller wheels around your brakes and get more tire in there. The engine and slight styling differences is all there is. Also, the xt comes with a steel bash plate up front. The awd system is standard across the board and I don’t really think the extra power is super helpful in off-road situations because the real limiting factor is the cvt and it will not let you unload all your power into it.
