I’m currently sitting solo at an Italian restaurant with a glass of wine and gnocchi, celebrating the end of holiday shopping. I’m Enjoying my Wednesday off, and relishing in my decisions for gifts, and the fact that I’m done early. Even so, I’m excited to hear this because gift giving is my love language too. Headphones in. Let’s do this.

OHHH. Just got to the end. My gift this year are also lounge wear inspired, funnily enough. I bought silk pajamas for my girlfriends. Slippers for my partners, etc.. In the realm of more affordable gifts I bought the wireless chargers for all of my roommates. I also took Hannah, Smokey Glow, Hannah’s advice and got them all phone stands for their desk. Lastly, it was the year of tumblers, water cups, water bottles, etc. I bought quite a few types depending on the needs of the person. Of course, more personal gifts were bought too, but these are the ones I would put in a “gift guide”

this year I decided to be more sustainable with my Christmas gift shopping and I bought everyone a vintage sweater. it was so fun to scour Instagram accounts of vintage stores and go in person as well and I managed to find some VERY nice sweaters of high quality materials, like cashmere, with nice designs as well, which would have cost a fortune if bought new.
it's my first attempt at this so hopefully my loved ones won't be insulted by getting something that isn't new. the only thing with this approach is you have to start shopping really early to make sure you actually find some nice pieces that fit the person's size and taste, but that's not an issue for me, I plan out my gifts starting September lol. if they're well received, I'm thinking of making this a regular thing.
and for the secret Santa we do at work, I always end up getting a handcrafted scented candle from a small local business, if it's for a woman. for men, I tend to go with booze, guys are just really hard to shop for

Any cookbook by the publisher Phaidon is a solid choice for a gift. They use higher quality paper, bindings, and covers. They have ribbons attached to the spine, to use as a bookmark. They always have high quality photography. Source: my mom is a cookbook collector and has over 1000 cookbooks. The ones by Phaidon are some of the best.

Only 5 mins in but I must say that "gets softer as you wash it" is such an underrated quality in fabric goods. A polyblend shirt might feel softer at first, but cotton or linen will feel softer in a year, and last longer.

I'm a photographer so I'm gifting both my mom and my sister a "Gift Voucher" for a pet photoshoot with their kitties! I was planning on sneakily doing the photoshoot without them knowing, and just gifting them framed prints - but I decided it would be more special for them to help with the photoshoot and pick their favorite photographs!

My favourite gifts to give are consumables. So fancy bath products, food treats the person might not buy for themselves, different versions of drinks they enjoy, etc.
It does get a little repetitive, so I do also gift things people request! Like this year my mum asked for a particular moisturizer, and my dad wants socks.

It's not a beginner pallette, but you can knock out basic looks with it. My go to is one of the colorful mattes all over the lid/crease with one of the shimmers or the multichrome over top. I think with the lethal matte formula, you need a good dense flat brush and to pat in place over unpowdered primer. (I've been using the NYX milk crayon...OLD SCHOOL) that seems to give most payoff. The matte purple in this palette is STUNNING and one of the best in my collection...

I've gotten into embroidery this year, so everyone's been getting little patches and stuff for their birthday and now for Christmas as well. A few people have wished for specific things with embroidery on them, like a shirt or a pair of socks. The materials don't cost all that much, but it takes hours to make even just a little pride flag or floral design, so most of the value comes from the time and love I put into making something pretty for my friends and family.
In previous years I've also gifted people paintings, poems and other little things I made.

Some gifts I'm extra excited about!!: I got my sister a handcrafted birdhouse from a local woodworker, and I'm giving both her and my mom a fancy dinner in Vegas because we got tickets to the Adele residency. I got my brother-in-law an all-in-one phone dock that has spaces for his wedding ring and a watch, as well as a shelf to lay his phone on. And my nieces are getting handmade jackets and some little toys that I got from a cute local kids' store, :)

I just became enthusiastic about makeup at the beginning of 2020. I actually started getting into it because both my young adult daughters are into it. I researched for their Christmas gifts and after Christmas I had just gotten sucked in. I’ll quote HLP by saying “all this to say” last year I was so excited about makeup that I gifted it to every woman. In hindsight I realize not all woman are passionate about it and these are some great recommendations for those people.

My best pal and I used to travel as much as we could together, both because we both love it and because we're perfectly compatible travel companions. We've both been in travel withdrawal for Covid and financial reasons. She really hates birthdays, so this year I got her the chain and some starter charms for a bracelet that I can just quietly add to each year. The three charms for this year were a Venetian mask from when we went to Carnaval for a two-hour fever dream in Venice, a Sagrada Familia which was her favorite building on our architecture study abroad program where we met, and a round charm patterned with skulls to represent our trip to the Capuchin crypt ossuary in Rome, which was one of the first times we'd done something just the two of us and also when we both discovered that one another could roll with some pretty weird punches.

    Great recommendations ❤️
My suggestions are on opposite ends of the price spectrum:
For an inexpensive gift, stickers or magnets that represent a fandom they’re really into are always a hit. It’s also cool if you happen to find something in that genre at the thrift store, like a book, mug, or T-shirt.
Expensive but highly appreciated if they’re a homeowner and you know them pretty well: pay for a project they’ve wanted to take on but just continue to defer because of cost or just… life. Example: my husband has been talking about getting garage racks installed for storage, but it’s a few hundred bucks and something else always seems to come up. Could also go with a gift certificate to Home Depot etc. if you’re unsure.

In keeping with your recommendations, I like giving gifts that are a luxurious version of something people use daily. My partner loves cocktails, so I bought Luxardo cherries as stocking stuffer.
Also for people who are far away, there are the long distance lamps. I haven’t bought them, but I’m thinking about them for future gifts. If you buy two, you can touch your lamp to trigger the other’s to light up and let that person know you are thinking of them. I think it’s very sweet for parents and grandparents.

My friends and I do this thing where each of us gives gifts from a certain category. Like clothing, self care, skincare, jewelry, etc. and it’s all based on what we all need each year. It’s really nice cause we all get to be creative inside our categories but we’re getting things we know the others need. My category is make-up this year since I’m obsessed and all my friends want recommendations! 😂

Like for you it was the eye mask, but for an interior designer I watch, she's convinced coffee table books are the perfect gift for anyone. Which would get decluttered right away for me. I’m so ready for the Babaa video!
I’ve accumulated enough to last me a lifetime… (5) and I’m actually intending on it. They have become a part of my everyday uniform. I think it helps my ADHD to be honest…wearing this wool feels therapeutic, the feeling of safety, a big warm hug! The smell slightly of sheep grazing in their pastures…don’t get me started on the textures! Babaa you overwhelm me in the most pleasant way! There is something special even about the scratchiness. I like to pick out the scratchy bits of hay… however I leave the ones that don’t bother me, I think it’s charming lol. Also all my sweaters have softened to the point I can wear a T-shirt underneath. I also never thought it to be possible with me and my sensitivity issues.

I almost always give books to people, especially my mom because we both read so much. I love giving someone a novel that I enjoyed and think they’ll like, it feels so personal and special to me. It can be cheap too. I work at B&N so I get a good discount BUT I have also been known to give secondhand books. I know for some people that’s a major gift giving faux paus, but I love the sense of life and magic that secondhand items often have.

I have a lot of cooks and bakers in my family so I love to give high quality or artisan or local versions of key ingredients (honey, maple syrup, vanilla extract, olive oil, etc) to people I know will use them and love them. Also for people with a sweet tooth, I recommend "Desert Person" by Claire Saffitz as a cookbook. It has non dessert items in it too.

FYI: "gold fill" holds up super well, and is a step between vermeil and solid gold. It's a thicker layer of gold around the base metal. I have some gold fill earrings I have worn 364 days a year for ten years and they still look amazing.

A long story -- Static Nails polish lasts 4 days on me, tops. I had high hopes but my nails are so bad. So an aside about nail polish in case this helps anyone: My nails are thin and they peel. Have been this way all my iife. I love a beautiful nail polish but it lasts 2 days on me before starting to chip, and so I can't wear it unless I want to do a manicure several times a week. No Can Do.
I found Dazzle Dry about a month ago and a manicure lasts 2 weeks, FOR REAL, on me. This is LIFE CHANGING if polish has only lasts a few days on you, as it did on me in the past. It's a system and you have to get the system. It does not harm your nails, there is no UV light to use but it lasts better than gel manicures on me. It's actually good for your nails. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! It's BONE DRY in 5 minutes after you put in the top coat. As in, you can GO TO BED and there will be no smudges or dents in the polish in the morning. I do not work for Dazzle Dry, I just found then via a RUclips Channel, The Salon Life. Check it out, I bet you'll love it. The channel and the polish! p.s. it's not cheap but far cheaper than just a few gel manicures, plus no nail damage. Check online, it's easy to find 20% off coupons all the time. The Salon Life has them in their description box.

My go to gift, especially for the men in my life, is fancy snacks! You'd never buy them for yourself, it's incredibly customisable to the individual in both taste, sweet/salty, and ethics, small/local producers, and dietary restrictions are easily worked with. They also aren't things that will potentially clutter up their space, which is a big thing for me. I like to give gifts that people will actually use and enjoy.

I got my best friend a custom necklace of her beloved cat's name. You can find a few sellers on Etsy making them, and it's surprisingly affordable for something so personal. I also curated a small palette of "special shadows" from JD Glow. She enjoys makeup and is interested in trying new brands but feels overwhelmed by the world of indies, so I wanted to share some of my favorite shades. My mom wanted a salt cellar, so I got her a handmade one from an Etsy seller; it has cute little mushrooms on top. It's one of a kind and acts as functional decor, which makes for a perfect gift. Next year, I may get them both one of those beautiful sari robes.

Gifting is soooo much fun! I went low budget this year. For the ladies I know wear mascara I got the rephr curler (best curler ever IMO) and a tube of my favorite clean mascara. For the office staff I put vanilla in bottles for extracting in may so it should be ready soon and am experimenting with making my own candles (which is not going as planned yet but not giving up). For the boys I got lightweight cotton (tshirt material) zip hoodies. My family just gives me gift cards which are great and get used but they r so impersonal and feel kinda cold to me. I think gifting takes a certain person and not everyone has the interest or capacity. Great video.

I love the solid gold jewellery idea. Its also a great investment, if any day you need the money, you have the option to sell it and get a decent amount for it.
As an Indian, its almost imperative for us to own solid gold, getting our first piece as soon as we're born. It's always viewed both as an adornment and as a reserve.

I'm a cooking fanatic, and this year I'm buying my mama some SouperCubes. they're like a huge ice cube tray for leftovers, and they changed the freezer game for me! You freeze the exact portion size you want, and all of the frozen cubes can be popped out to fit perfectly in a gallon-sized zip-lock bag. No more freezing in jars or weird tupperware! No more having to defrost the whole block just to eat half of it. it makes it so much easier to actually use the food you freeze for later.

I'm living for the 70s rock star vibes of this new haircut. I have massive shag envy. I've got an apt. for a few weeks from now...OMG I have one of the kantha robes from the etsy shop. I got it like five-ish years ago and it's the greatest. It's light weight, gets softer the more you wash it and I've always loved the print I got. I completely agree that it looks way more expensive than it actually is. May Anthropologie with and die away because we can buy direct from India on Etsy. My gifts: Son--antique Edwardian top hat from Etsy, husband: One Piece of Norway knitted onesie, Mom: Quilted down jacket from Land's End because they actually have petites in outerwear, Bestie: knitting book she asked for an some home made treats from my kitchen...
