I had frozen shoulder at age 53. Sent to 7 male doctors, none of them mentioned the word hormones, menopause or anything close. They did however send me to a pain management doctor, a neck and shoulder surgeon, multiple tests including MRIs, and X-rays. No one even called it frozen shoulder. I had to research everything on my own and finally figured out it was related to perimenopause and hormone decline. I’m now 58 and been on bioidentical HRT for over 3 years. However, no doctors would give hormones to me saying I was still menstruating. I finally found an online service. What a freakin nightmare. Now that I know how hormones affect everything I’m really angry at doctors, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, men (😅j/k). But I love Dr. Marie Claire Haver for advocating and getting the word out!

I was having issues with my left hip (into IT band) for years due to “bad body mechanics and providing 20 hands on hours of massage per week”. The thing is…I know my body from the inside out AND from the outside in, due to dancing and working on myself and nothing helped for years - thus the overworked excuse. 3 months after beginning HRT, I have successfully unlocked it which has also helped several other issues. It’s crazy! Thank you for doing the good work! 💜 (PS. Most function issues cross the body for compensation so I’m betting there were right shoulder issues as well 👍)

Frozen shoulder on both sides within a couple of years.... starting around age 51..so miserable. Maybe I could have avoided at least the second round. Instead, they pushed cortisone injections and surgery the first time, which didn't really do much at all. The second time, I said no surgery because really, the only thing that helped was time. Makes me mad that I could've maybe avoided it altogether.

He operated and sent me on my way. 11 years later and I STILL have a completely frozen shoulder - I just learned to work around it 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hi, I am 68 years old, and went through menopause at age 43. I had been on HRT’s, which included Estrace and Prometrium until 2019 when I was diagnosed with BRCA1 mutation. I then had prophylactic bilateral mastectomies, and hysterectomy with BSO. Intraoperative I was found to have stage one fallopian tube cancer. The timing of all this was nothing less than miraculous. I had chemo prophylactically at that time., and have not had reoccurrence. As you would expect my HRT‘s were Ripped away from me. So essentially, I have been off HRT‘s for five years. I am wondering if stopping my HRT’s cancelled out all the years of cardiovasular, neuro protection. My main concern at this point is that my mother as well as her sister had dementia. I do have some arterial plaque, but not obstructive. My labs are all great and my lipid panel is fabulous as I am on Crestor. I really want to go back on some form of HRT, because dementia is a fate worse than death. No doctor will have a conversation with me about this. I just get the side eye and eye roll.

@@iriskaufman5048 your welcome! I was gaslighted for years by my doctors, refusing to believe my telling them I have severe chronic pain, fatigue, lung disfunction, etc, when I became very ill, at 22 years of age. Long story short, at 55 years old, after a 33 years of pain and illness, I finally received a diagnosis from a wonderful doctor, who took everything I said, seriously, actually sat with me for an hour (unbelievable, I know!), asking what my symptoms were, asking questions, then sending me out for various tests and labs. Turns out I have a rare autoimmune disease(Mixedconnectivetissuedisease), with much irreversible and permanent damage, due to being untreated all these years, thanks to the previous doctors who disregarded me as a hypochondriac, hysterical woman, or whatever they were thinking. I no longer have any faith in any kind of medical help.I think they ignore women past a certain age and I'm told by my Doctor they don't even do a pap smear past 65, which means most women are probably not having their vagina and outer areas checked properly past a certain age because it's not important.... And let's not even talk about dry vagina. . right?Who told you about that?I thought I was well read.Had no idea this could happen to a woman. @cyndieK1 I have had pain with both shoulders that started about 5-6 years ago. It was suspected then to be torn cuffs. Afraid to do MRI, I would just live with it, suffering, and taking 660mg naproxen in the morning to move and swollen. Now, the rheumatologist is sending me for MRI after x-rays show osteoarthritis in shoulders as the pain feels more in muscles. So my question was more towards the pain and frozen shoulder, as until I heard of Dr. Claire, I had not heard of it before. So far, all testing for rheumatologist blood work is normal with some on edge numbers but dismissive since in range. I'm sure not all hormones have been checked . So far as I can tell, the pain is worse with sugar & gluten intake, and it's hard to change or exercise w/o guidance and support & accountability.

@@jeannetomlin800 is your pain mostly at night? Can you sleep on your sides?

@cyndieK1 not comfortably. I find that by sleeping on my sides (either) my shoulders pull forward more and my hip on the side I'm on will hurt. My left thigh goes numb occasionally. Pain is mainly when I wake up as at night, when I do sleep, I try to sleep on my back to avoid discomfort.

@@jeannetomlin800 ok thank you. I just had a MRI, will find out Friday. I've noticed sugar & gluten make mine worse too. I do hope they figure out what's going with you and get some relief. That's a long time to be in pain.
