Yes this is totally frustrating time !
I am 45 started having lack of sensation vaginally a year ago. Finally got annoyed enough to seek out the o shot procedure.
I also did this bc my incontinence got worse and I was losing urine during sex. I was mortified. The husband thought it was “squirting “ ha !! Never hapoened in 10 years then why now. Lol. I knew better
So I got the o shot a week ago
Now was diagnosed w bacterial vaginitis. . The tele health doc says due to my age it’s due to perimenopause more than likely. I am kind of depressed as I don’t really have a supprt circle. 😐

I started at 37 and was told I'm to young. I was bleeding so much. 8 tubes of blood and a thousand test later. They told me I'm 100% healthy.😂 Now I'm 43 and my periods are about 3 months apart. But all the other issues are affecting me, insomnia, anxious, mood swings, hot flashes during the days and nights, ECT. So much that I'm finally doing my research on it. I'm blown away by the lack of education that we're missing in life to prepare us for this journey. Do you remember being told, women get old and their periods stop. That's all. That's all???????😂

I'm an RN, and just figured out that I've been in perimenopause for the last 2+ years because even in nursing school we weren't taught any of this. Basically just taught that you start to miss periods, have hot flashes and then they stop all together. And that you will likely follow the time frame your mother did. My mom was 53 when she stopped, I'm 39! And 2 years in! I'm so angry that I was blindsided, and had no idea it could start so early

@@jennh2096 My mom started at 45. I started at 37. Have you noticed how girls are starting their periods much younger now? And now, women are going thru menopause much earlier. It's got to be something in the shots, foods, water. Something is causing it. My personal opinion... I'm shocked that they don't teach this in nursing school. It's like a secret. That shouldn't be talked about. We're suppose to rink we're going crazy. 🤣 I'm so happy you now know what you are going thru. Not knowing was the hardest part.

I think I'm in mid-to-late perimenopause at 48. For the last year I've been getting bad hot flashes...but the last 6 months or so, I have not been able to stop sweating AT ALL. Like...3 fans at all times to keep me cool, even after a cold shower (so cold, if I went colder it would be off.) Having yet another set of labs (5th in 6 months) for hormones, then my CFS doc will likely add estrogen (I've been on progesterone for 10+ years.) Idk, it's just been crazy. Hubby said I could order your book, so doing that today!

Thank you so much for talking about this. I'm 41, almost 42, and I noticed fairly big changes in my cycle at 39, mainly just the length of my cycle and some additional fatigue and aches and pains I didn't have as much of prior. Since I have Endometriosis, I was concerned and I began asking my OBGYN for hormone tests for the past 2 years, and EVERY single time, the OBGYN says she'll run base checks, but they won't tell her anything. And alas, she never has any answers for me. Just single numbers that I don't understand. She says I might be in Perimenopause, but didn't give me much to go on other than a vague opinion of eat well, sleep and exercise. But that's what she's saying to every single other woman, so she's not of much help because we're all different!
Now that I'm in my early 40's, I've got so many more symptoms - cycle used to be fairly regular my entire life, which is a blessing considering I have Endo, and it went from 28 days to about 20 days now, so I never feel like I get a break like I used to feel before this shift. I have always had slight insomnia right before my period would start, but maybe like two days, but now, oh boy, I get bad insomnia for about 10 days in a row every month (usually before during and after my period), weight gain/difficult to lose, horrible hormonal headaches that make it difficult to function some days, nausea, increased digestive issues, fatigue (I'm exhausted more than normal and I have CFS from Epstein Barr Virus, so being tired is normal for me, but this is beyond tired), extra clumsy, and just feeling off most of the time.
From what I've been told, the women in my family go through menopause very early so I'm not surprised I started perimenopause at 39. I got my period very young, had just turned 11 years old, and many of my friends didn't get theirs until 15. And without much assistance from my OBGYN, I'm just feeling stuck. I'm honestly getting really tired of traditional "doctors" in general. They don't listen, act like they are annoyed they have to even see you, and send you away without helping most of the time. I just want to know more about what my personal body is going through. Like, am I estrogen dominant? I could be, but I'm not the expert, so I have no way to know that. I'm thinking of having a naturopathic doctor help me from now on. Do you think this would be a better option? I know there's things I can do, like changing some dietary things, but I just want to know what's going on my specifically in my body. Thanks so much for talking about this, it's something we don't see enough women bringing out in the open, so thank you!

They don't listen, act like they are annoyed they have to even see you, and send you away without helping most of the time. I just want to know more about what my personal body is going through." These words must be written above the entrance to every clinic, so that doctors see them, arriving to work, and remmeber to do their job properly. Also the femalie patients must know, that many of them are not been taken seriously by the "traditional doctors", and must be prepared to firmly insist on getting a proper service from the medical personnel.

I was on the pill to help with this and then I found the PMS gummy. I have been using it for almost 2 years. Game changer for me with the regulating, pain and heavyness of my periods. Mood too. I had the nausea and hormonal headaches. I started my period at 14, but late in 36 I was feeling weird and having all these digestive issues and food sensitivities and my poop was not normal (just really soft floating poops, lots of gas, bloating). I was freaking out thinking I had Chrons, malabsorption, vitamin deficiency, or something bad! I was scared. By 37 I was full blown sick. Severe pms plaguing me. Lost a lot of weight. Anxiety was so terrible and terrifying, heart palpitations, panic attacks, hot flashes. So it happened super early to me but who knows how long it will go.. 10 years?! Mine cycles were just starting to go from perfect 30 days for decades to suddenly every month or two getting shorter by the day and becoming 25-29 days. I am sure I would have been having them every 3 weeks with no break from the suffering of the super strong ovulations and sinister pms nausea. I’m on birth control now and doing much better.

I'm still not sure where I am in Perimenopause but I will admit an almost throw away comment from my clinician that I went in to get my heart checked and it was determined that my anxiety attacks had changed and that comment was thrown out. And like you mentioned I can look back and see other less dramatic things. I'm just very frustrated at the lack of information -Also why were we never informed that this existed I had some vague idea that in a very short span your periods came later and later until they didn't come and you had some hot flashes. My muscle tone has softened not bad but enough that I notice, my skin is dryer, my breasts grew, I am heavier then I used to be, my regular bouts of vertigo are more frequent, and my hair has changed. I feel unsupported and like my only option is to research and try to dig up truth on the internet and it's frustrating. I am glad you mentioned having things checked out because I have been as I have some chronic conditions and I felt kind of uncomfortable and dismissed say like the breast thing. I've not seen that any place else but I was a victim of depo provera over extended use in my 20s but I am absolutely certain as it was not cancer (I've had mammograms) that it was a weird hormonal flux possibly perimenopause that caused me to go from "barely a C cup" up to an undeniable double D (I had to buy new bras in different sizes and figure that stuff out again after an entire lifetime of B-C sized breasts).

Looking back, there were already clues my body was changing late in 36 when I had a couple episodes of weird random nausea in the morning or middle of the night. I would wake up in the middle of the night feeling this awful nausea/hunger, and lots of pressure and bloating. I started having sensitivity to lots of foods and gi/digestive issues plaguing me. My BM's were floating and looking strange, like a vitamin deficiency was going on. My periods were regular 30 days, but I did notice i was getting more symptoms during my cycles, as well as that the days bleeding went from 6-7 to only 2-3 days. Extreme cravings started that triggered a strong ovulation from absolute hell and gnarly nausea. I also had the morning sickness type of nausea at about 7-10 days from the period. Severe anxiety and panic attacks developed and I was trembling in my fingers in the mornings, having hot flashes, and heart palpitations. I was very scared and not sure what was going on, but I figured out it was my hormones changing. I was told the nausea was considered PMS and that worsening of PMS was a sign of perimenopause beginning. The nausea became chronic and debilitating and I lost 20 lbs within 2-3 months. I went from 90 lbs to 70 lbs. I really thought I was going to die. It was worse than my pregnancies with the nausea. I knew immediately i would have to get on birth control as it was the only solution to end my suffering. This is after I had tried progesterone creams and herbal remedies for hormone balance, which backfired and made things worse! Through the worst of it, I was smoking 15 hits of marijuana and doing CBD oil to ease my anxiety, insomnia, and help with the loss of appetite. My sex drive was totally gone and I felt like I was living in someone else's body. I felt very helpless through it all and that I'd never recover. All of this happened to be at 37 years old, and I never knew that I would have to shut down my ovaries and it would be a matter of life or death. My body started to change rapidly and i gained more curves and fat shifted to my hips, butt, and thighs into more of a mature woman's pear shape. I developed a tiny pooch in my abdomen, and continuous gas and bloating became my new norm as the abdominal region goes through these dramatic overnight changes. My levels of A, D, and Iron are dangerously low so this may have contributed to my early start to perimenopause at 37. It's hard to accept that my reproductive term has come to an end. All a sudden i became scared of death and dying, and so many things I didn't think about before in the same way. Menopause books written by professional doctors state that perimenopause starts in a womens forties, when the truth is, it can start as early as 35 when the women's egg reserve declines to 10K. My body began to hyperovulate and just go nuts trying to pump out one last baby. It seems this is why women 35 and over are at risk of twins!!

By the time I started on birth control to control everything going on with me, my 30 day periods were getting shorter and shorter by every month or two. I was starting to have 27-29 day cycles and I am sure mine were headed in that same direction as you and would have just gotten closer and closer together. I had a gal friend whom I was friends with when I was 32, and she was 42 at the time and she was telling me her periods were coming every 17-21 days and they were very light and short. She only had one 9 yr old son and I think she was crushed she could not have anymore kids and said it would be impossible with what was happening with her cycles. I really never know this would hit me so early and need intervention. I’m just glad I had a second child when I was 32 because that there was my last shot at having a healthy baby with my hormones still working properly and not giving me all this trouble now. My case was really severe, but I am all good now since getting on birth control. I still feel some slight nausea 10 days before my period and sometimes during the ovulation time because birth control doesn’t eradicate the issues 100%, but I would say I’m feeling about 80-90% ok and it’s all manageable now. Lucky for us, if this all takes up to 10 years, but the time we are like 47 or 48 we will be through with this hell, and I heard it’s all smooth sailing once the periods halt! Woo hoo!

Good evening, I am 43 years old and started perimenopause symptoms late 2021, I went to two different doctors who ran hormone tests and told me I was fine and was not going through this. I went to a third doctor who finally listened to what I had to say and diagnosed me off of my symptoms. It is definitely a frustrating time where my husband doesn't really understand what is going on, I can track it down to the last two weeks of the month where I feel off. Feelings of depression, anger and frustration followed by crying, weight gain and bloating, hair loss, skin changes, increase in headaches, hot flashes and insomnia tied with night terrors. I am not really sure which symptom is worse as its two weeks of me struggling to power through them. The first two weeks of the month are great, I am excited and energetic, I actually get cold and feel less bloated. I would love any help at this point. Thank you.

Also sounds like pmdd (pre menstrual dysphoric disorder) If you hadn't suffered from it before maybe your hormones are starting to fluctuate as you are getting older.
I know you said your Drs ran hormone tests, but our hormones are constantly fluctuating and they would need to take several at different times during your cycle to get a true picture.
Drs always palm women off, because the medical field isn't really that invested in us (sad but true). You know your body and don't let them make you feel like they know 'your' body better.

Similar situation happened with my GYNO earlier this year, but she refused to even run tests. She just said I could be going through it, but not necessarily. Like, what the heck kind of diagnosis is that? I believe it had to do with Covid and the fact that they were trying to get you in and out, but I was extremely frustrated. My medical premium is not free so I expect services to be rendered. She literally busted in on me before I was dressed and asked was I almost done. Also, for the first time ever, when she did my pap and it actually hurt. I have yet to find another doctor, but insurance only pays for it once or twice a year so I have to wait a few months at the least. When it comes to hubby and my mood swings, I am truly blessed. I know many of men would've ran for the hills! Wishing you the best thru this process, sis!

I was given a low dose of hormones, but I haven’t taken them for fear of gaining wait, but after dealing with my anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, and extreme pain (when I get my period I can’t go anywhere for the first three to five days…I might be bleeding somewhat lighter than usual but then the flood comes)…I think I’ll just take the hormones and pray I get myself back. The later symptoms I have are vaginal dryness, painful sex and even some atrophy I have noticed... I also get occasional hot flashes, heart palps, severe anxiety, not feeling like me, crying spells, digestive issues, the list goes on. Last night was the first night I had hot flashes, heart palps, hand and joint pain, nervousness all in one go so that was fun! I have alot of side effects. I am not on any type of hormones yet. Supplements I take: Turmeric, GABA, b flakes, b12 liquid, Raw greens powder, probiotic. I do alot of natural things for my health in addition to the supplements. Teas, tinctures, turkey tail mushrooms, apricot seeds, ginger tea, etc. But I still have the issues. I am trying to stay more consistent on exercise. I do pretty well with diet but have mess ups just like everyone does. I am weighing taking the bioidentical progesterone from wild yams to see if I can get some relieft from symptoms. If anyone has any experience with using it I would love to hear thoughts. I am a little nervous about it but I also don't want to put up with this forever...Any tips, suggestions would be great. A cousin responded letting me know that we have Hashimotos (thyroid autoimmune) in the family could also be responsible for what I was talking about. I had no idea as we are not close to that side of the family. Hashimotos comes out often during perimenopause. FYI. If labs are weird: iron, b12, vit D low, fatigue and your periods are heavier than they were/more painful...have them do TSH and thryoid antigen (TPO) if TSH shows near normal...you may be subclinical, but have it.

My mom did take premerin. My sister is 56 and and now in menopause and we're not close and I can't talk to her about it. I went to my pcp and let him know about what's going on and my symptoms. Ironically lasy year i had the same blood tests done and i wasn't even in the range or close to peremenopause. Then this month I had the same labs done along with my thyroid, cbp along with the LH hormone test. My test came back with good thyroid and cbp. My LH test came back as in the pereimeno range and voila! I'm in perimenopause. My pcp said your LH came back in the perimenopausal range and not in menopause as of yet. I"m now experiencing hot flahes, hot rushes, cold flashes, insomnia, irritable, anxious, fatigue and tired, cry at silly moments and out of the blue, i'm not depressed but it's like c'mon it's a flower commercial lol. My pcp said please if you have any more questions let me know. My gosh I had alot of them. So i sent him a mesage with some commets and alot of questions. Well it's been over a week and I haven't heard back and my questions never got answered. This isn't normal and like my pcp because replies and call backs are better than this. Should I send another messge to my pcp? Is it possible my pcp doesn't know some answers? What should I do? Am I being dismissed?

I have been having back to back to back peri menopause symptoms. Every doctor I see dismisses my deep gut feeling that this is what’s wrong with me because I’m “too young”. I’m 37 and my mom went though menopause at 45. If I were to go though it at the age she did then I would be at the correct age for peri menopause. It’s so frustrating being dismissed so quickly.

I'm 37 too and going through it as well.....same as you I'm not really taken so seriously. My Dr can see that my hormones started to dip a couple years ago, didn't start getting peri symptoms till last summer. I thought it was just stress from all this COVID stuff, but then my Dr confirmed it.....yet I'm not yet offered any treatment. Glad for these videos because I definitely need a new approach with my Dr. But hang in there.....you're not alone, I totally feel what you're going through, I believe you, I understand you, and can relate. Hang in there!!!!!!! We CAN do this, we WILL be ok, it might not be easy....but.... it'll be WORTH it. We can do this.....you're supported 100%. We've got this!!!!!❤️

Heather's videos are so helpful for women around the world. I feel like she is doing such good service to women all over the world. I feel like I'm going thru the similar perimenopausal symptoms but when I tell ppl around they think its psychological. I really think it's the hormones because I have worse nights around my periods. I'm only 36 and ppl and doctors alike refused to believe that it could be menopausal. And my mother and mothers sisters all have had very early menopause (by the age of 41)

I also started experiencing symptoms in my mid-thirties - I *think* as early as 35, but it's hard to be sure because the onset was gradual and I didn't know anything about perimenopause until I was talking to my sister about the issues I was experiencing and she told me about it :/
I suspect it's very common to start in late 30s. I'm baffled as to why everyone thinks it starts later. My mother completed her full menopause at 43.

I’ve had irregular (timing) periods my entire life. However, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at age 45 and started Metformin at that time and it has made my periods on time each month. I’m now 48 and have not had luck finding any info on whether being on Metformin will delay Menopause as it has made me so regular these past 3 years. Any research that you have come across would be helpful!

I'm 44 and my last cycle was ~203 days long. I guess I have PMDD symptoms also because I will suddenly go from generally happy to wanting to KMS and then snapping out of it after a couple days. The long cycle is the only symptom I have of menopause so far. (I've been having night sweats since age 30.)
I have hated my period since I began at age 9. What a stupid, unnecessary source of negativity/pain/stress to have to deal with for decades.

You may be estrogen dominant. Before estrogen drops preceding menopause, it can surge at times in the cycle for years. I used to have very painful nipples and changed my diet. I now eat broccoli and cauliflower every day. They are vegetables that contain compounds that help with estrogen breakdown and removal from the body. Also I began to drink my water and have daily bowel movements. I now have no nipple pain. Research estrogen dominance and the supplement DIM.

I had and sometimes still do, have painful period at 53. Painkillers really don't take the edge off. I try to be extra kind to myself during this time. Also, I take deep breaths and sniff lavender essential oil in a handkerchief. The body can only cope with pain in one place at a time, so when pain is UNBEARABLE i pinch myself to give temporary relief from the period pain. I use hot compresses too. I try to keep busy and take my mind off the pain. It totally suxs!

I am gaining more on my thigh area and hips but my hips went droopy so it is no longer round shape. My butt is long and getting flat. My cheeks is falling so fast this 40's my eyelids is also droopy now. Sometimes my knees crackles when I wake up and move. I am taking collagen, multivitamins, fish oil, and will add vit e. Maybe i will also add biotin. I am still having period but the schedule is mess up either early or late. I am having dry feet or the thick skin on my toes, my pores are huge now and so bad. I guess I just need to accept that I am old. My neck started having lines and wrinkles. My neck looks chicken skin.

  • @SouthCountyGal
    @SouthCountyGal 11 месяцев назад

I'm not sure where I'm at in the process. The difficulty is that I have autoimmune issues that also have a lot of these symptoms.
I'm 52. I break out in an all-body sweat if I do the tiniest bit of exercise, overheat easily, and wake up in wet sheets at night. I can't stay hydrated! My periods are all over the place, but they were only predictable for about 10 of the 42 years I've been menstruating. I'm definitely more irritable than I used to be, but I have life stressors to blame for that. I've suddenly become the only support person for several very ill relatives, and it's overwhelming. Also, my ADHD is off the charts lately. Don't ask me to remember anything!
Guess I'd better head to my doc; I'm definitely somewhere along the journey out of my child-bearing years.
*** Question: have you encountered recurring mild rhabdomyolysis episodes linked to the menstrual cycle, or to perimenopause? For decades, I have had what I thought was spotting in between periods, and sometimes instead of them. Last year I did not menstruate for 4 months; after coming close to being completely incapacitated, I was finally diagnosed with mild rhabdo that was recurring every few days. It wasn't until I received that diagnosis and the rhabdo started up again every 6 weeks or so that I realized it's been happening for decades. It resolves on its own after a few days, as it always has, but it's harder to stay hydrated with the crazy amount of sweating I've been doing and it's recurring more frequently now.
I ask because I read an article that seemed to link rhabdo and menstruation in some of the mild forms of MS; particularly ones due to enzyme deficiencies. But I'm a complete layperson, so I'm not sure I've got that right.

This is super hard for someone usually very active and health. I don't want to do birth control (bad side effects for me) or IUD. I know many people my age are doing the patch instead and seeing great results. I really hope I can get doctors to give it to me though because I'm "too young".

Will being on birth control (to help regulate and lighten my periods) make it harder for me to know how far along I am in the peri stages? I’m 46, but started BC pills half year ago bc my periods were getting really unpredictable and very heavy. As far as symptoms, I’ve had them all for quite some time now. Just wondering if BC pills make it harder to know where I am in the stages.

My case is very weird..According to symptoms, I had symptoms of early perimenopause starting around the age of 30 (may be earlier) , when my cycles changed from 28 days to 24 days. Now (at 39) I have cycles of average 25-26 days but frequently 1-2 days earlier or later than expected. Bleeding pattern didn't change as I have always had heavy, 5-6 day periods. My main issue now is hot flushes and night sweats which are sometimes so severe and frequent ( meaning late peri ???). Hormone tests repeated several times are within the normal range, FSH 5 or 6 , estradiol around 50 (on 3rd day of cycle).Ovarian reserve test is slightly reduced but as told by 2 gynecologists, not very low. Doctore don't believe I am in perimenopause and no one offered hormone therapy. I am so confused and don't know if I am really going to have very early menopause or that there is something else.

First of all, thank you so much for these videos! I think I am going into perimenopause. I will be 40 in three months and my symptoms started towards the end of last year. I have a Mirena IUD to manage my endometriosis, I had to have unilateral oopherectomy because I a had a huge Endo cyst on one ovary when I was 35. I get occasional spotty periods because of the Mirena. But now my moods have been all over the place, very easily irritable, or uncontrollable crying out of no where. It feels like extreme anxiety and I am normally is very even tempered laid back person. I am also getting occasional night sweats. The heart palpitations started last winter. And my mental concentration has been lacking, like it is so difficult to recall certain words when I am having a conversation, tip of the tongue type words and just feeling mentally disorganized. Also some insomnia issues. Is this perimenopause?
