Always love it when trooper “Val Kilmer alike” is on with the Blues because he’s tall…..and because he’s tall, he has the large mounts, and I’M rather fond of the big, boofy horses 😂 in this case the fabulous Oxford. Luckily the Blues and Royals have a lovely selection of big boofy mounts that ensure that even the tallest troopers don’t look like they need roller skates 😂 In all honesty it’s good to see the MoD guys/girls taking a more active role. The crowds are getting SO big and it’s unfair to place the whole responsibility for crowd control onto the troopers. While some of them are very good at getting the great unwashed online and shifting as required, (like my, and many others, favourite trooper)you have to remember these guys ARE troopers….the lowest on the totem pole and the equivalent of privates, and NOT accustomed to giving orders so trying to control a hundred or more people, and civilians at that, is a big ask. Not to mention, they also have their own duties to take care of. It helps if both work together to keep a semblance of control in the yard.

The life guard that was pulled from the box so quickly was the same one who had the issue with his collar. It appears that something was maybe broken because if you look closely, he didn't get it buttoned up. It was still open at the neck when he entered the box. When he came back out, it was buttoned up properly. I'm guessing they had to get him a new collar or cloak. Thats why he was back out so quickly.
LG is Life Guards and RHG/D is the Blues and Royals. RHG/D stands for Royal Horse Guards (which were known as the Blues) and the Royal Dragoons (known as the Royals) which merged to form the Blues and Royals. Looks like part of the ‘D’ didn’t get burned into the hoof.

I agree completely. This isn’t a petting zoo. Tourists should not be allowed to come anywhere near to the horses. Only people are taking pictures should be able come close enough to take pictures but not close enough to touch them.
Did you say a real trams?😂😂 Nimbus and Javelin wonderful. John I am so confused about Arnie (Raden) with that clip I had trouble with identifying her. Hopefully when she comes back I can figure it out. I find that one Blues guard the epitome of what this American thinks a British Soldier is. No Nonsense, Professional and skilled. Cheeky side hopefully.
It appears the horses consistently object to their bits, thus the head shaking and lip licking. Wonder if there are alternative bits that could be used. I’m guessing all options have been considered by the head of equestrian services.
@sandragrissom1821 The bits they use are Tomthumb with snaffle. These are some of the harshest bits. Yes horses play with bits, but Tomthumbs exert 5lbs of pressure on a horses mouth and it is painful. I ride my horses bitless.
@@Jacque727 you’re kidding right? “TomThumb “with” snaffle”………a Tom Thumb is a jointed bit. It is not used “with” a snaffle at all and to my knowledge none of the HHCav blacks use one(which ofc is not to say that none do, just that I’ve never seen anything to indicate it) There MAY be one or two jointed snaffles in use but again being able to tell that from a distance with the cheek pieces of the bridle in the way seems more than a little unlikely. In fact how exactly you can supposedly tell what bit each horse is wearing from a video that generally never gets closer that a couple of feet is an interesting question. Good lord there are so many people with super powered eyesight around. Also, the horses don’t all use the same bit btw…..that would be silly. And gee how did I guess you were a “bitless”affecionado…..🙄
Wild guess here - would the stamp on the hoof be RGH1, representing Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons which is the actual name of The Blues and Royals?

Irish Draught horses. My neck of the woods! Yay!! I thought they may have bought brood mares, then just bred right there. Very interesting to find out they are still being purchased up to today. Got to stay by a stud farm in Kilcullen, County Kildare, Ireland waaay back in the 1970s. They were breeding race horses. It was a thrill to sit up on the fence and watch them come over, say 'hello' then take off at 0-60 to show off! Then come trotting looking for a treat or pat n praise. Poor sisters, so we just patted them and praised them. The ground vibrates with the pounding hooves, their snorting and hard breathing, swish of them passing. Then the steam after a hard run, up off their backs. The swishing tails, head tosses, whinnying asking for praise! Lol. The shaking of the muscles as they cool down. Just mesmerizing. They are so intelligent. Know their names, understand what you are saying. Big ole show offs! We were under 5ft tall at the time, so big beasties by golly. Very gentle with us though. You're so lucky, up close n personal on the daily. What a thrill!

I love Ormonde not seen him for ages
Why do they not stop bikes in the yard😅😅
I love the way, that the Gard was talking with someone, and smiling his handsome smile.
There are a lot of handsome Gentlemen in London 😉
Another great video. It was a shame that you missed the altercation with the tourist. Thank you though. Its good to get running commentary with curent information.😊😊
Javelin I guessed him with that wonderful Mark
I agree completely. This isn’t a petting zoo. Tourists should not be allowed to come anywhere near to the horses. Only people are taking pictures should be able come close enough to take pictures but not close enough to touch them.
My favourite guard on 55 horse. Thankyou for your videos. x
Everyone is confused about 'Arnie' 😭
Love the markings on the new horse that was in the box on the right. Look forward to learning his/her name.
That horse is 'Youngman'... possibly a mare would you believe!
We won't forget that name in a hurry, especially if it is a mare.
I hate seeing the horses upsetting the horses and no doubt the guards
ANTES DE MORIR ME ENCANTARIA ESTAR UN DIA EN ESE LUGAR CREO IMPOSIBLE ESE DIA ❤
London is on high alert, 😢
It appears the horses consistently object to their bits, thus the head shaking and lip licking. Wonder if there are alternative bits that could be used. I’m guessing all options have been considered by the head of equestrian services.
A lot of the horses simply play with the bit in their mouth, habit, boredom or sometimes agitation. Not usually objection.
@@nancynorcross409 Good to know. Thanks!
While I love all this part of England, I think I would love to visit the country side, meet some of the folks
3.40 here on Friday 5th of January
Wild guess here - would the stamp on the hoof be RGH1, representing Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons which is the actual name of The Blues and Royals?
RHGD - indeed Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The unique horse doesn’t have the Sherpa strap the other horses do either, so that is another difference.
I have to ask , what is a Sherpa strap please ?
@@kathellison8084I'm guessing it's the fleece on the girth
@kathellison8084 I think it's the neck strap.
@maryholder3795 I googled it and it is the sherpa fleece that's on the girth..
@@marywood6270 Thanks Mary , I'd never heard it called that before , I should have done what you did and used Google , something I usually do . Got to think of a good excuse now , give me time I think I've used old age galloping on once too often 😂😂😂 . I know I'll blame the cat 🐱 😂😂😂
John, do you know how the regiments get their horses. Are the bought or donated from specific breeders. 😊
The horses are specifically bred for HCAV and brought over from Ireland. 🐴❤️
Thankyou for that information 😊
Royal Horse Guard Troup maby? 😊
Top comment. "He's a mare"!
I really like these vids
Well hello from Yuba City, CA. I see 96 at the top then looks 122?
31:49 this is my favorite guard!
Glenda Ratcliffe. I certainly don't mind you telling me that I could be offending people. If you look at my text you will see that I have only called Whitehall Looney Street never an individual. I didn't think anyone ever took most of the texts seriously
I noticed a couple that were signing. Do you know how they would be handled for not compling with a guard shout since they can't hear the shout?
It's something I have often wondered... and something I hope we won't see (at least in any negative aspect). 🙏🏻
I agree, might be something they could address?@@LondonCityWalks
