Great video! I've changed front brake pads on older cars but I'm a bit nervous to do the ones on my 2015 Forte. But after a couple videos it looks like nothing much has changed with the newer models.
I have a 2012 kia forte hatchback is it the same procedure as your kia. My kia is still like new and drives beautifully smooth only 41.000 miles on it. i been takeing it to the dealership for maintnance but i want to learn to work on it myself just like i did when i had my toyota. Thank you for this video.
I was taught that you open that cap so when you use the clamp to press the plunger, it doesn't cause the pressure to burst a hose. You don't want to compress that plunger if the brake line is a completely closed system, so you pop open the brake fluid cap. Any mechanics want to confirm or refute?
@@johnharris7994 Yes when you compress the caliper piston with the C clamp it forces fluid back to the reservoir so with the cap removed there wont be any pressure building up in the system.
It’s is not required. I know a few mechanics and not every job it’s done and they never got complaints. I personally like to do it because i know that the new Pads will fit perfectly
2014 Kia Forte LX.. I replaced all of brake pads and rotors recently now I'm hearing clicking/ticking sound mostly when applying the brakes! There's no obvious signs of damage nor anything coming into contact with moving parts.. I've raised the car up on stands and spun each wheel but no ticking clicking/ ticking?! What could be causing the sound?
So those rubber seals need to be full of grease.. or that antitrust ??? I am watching this video because I will change the break pads on my 2017 Kia Rio..
This was the easiest and best instructions on YT! Thank you! I saved almost $200 by spending 12 minutes watching this video!
21 mm tire lug nuts

Thanks man, I appreciated the quick review of this on my car!
My pleasure! Thank you for the feedback!
Your guide was very helpful. Thank you.
Great video thank you for posting this

@Adrian Diaz I have a 2015 Forte and I'm getting close to 50,000- I live in Montana and everything is far apart! Great video!
Awesome video! Question: what's the purpose of removing the cap for the break oil and having the e-break on? Thanks!

Spraying break cleaner all over that rubber boots will dry them out correct ?
"Try not to tighten these down too much".... -then proceeds to tighten everything with an impact wrench
Nice to work on some thing not so old lol
Why did you replace the hardware? Is that required when changing the pads?

QuickFixHere got it! Thanks
Do NOT use an impact to tighten lug nuts!
I thought on a KIA when you compress the pistons you should turn them instead with a special tool or needle nose pliers?
If you don’t have a special tool then a c-clamp on the inner brake pad will work just fine
what type of brake pads did you use. just from autozone or is their a specific model # you need
did those duralast gold brake pads come with the hardware or you have to buy that seperate

Did you ever find out what it was?

yea...wanted to ask too....i remember it need to be put on some grease on it..
What gloves are you wearing man? I've never had a pair of gloves that seem to last as long as the ones you're wearing. They always tear on me.
You didn’t torque the Lugnuts the way you did it will make the rotors work
u forgot to spray anti squeal on the brake pads
This guy has no clue.
what's wrong about it?
Anti seize inside caliper guide pins is a sure way to harden up. Only apply silicon paste. Those will eat the rubber boots.
