@EttoKokonoe Mode 7 was the Super Nintendo's hardware system for applying bi-axial 3D effects to 2D sprites. In layman's terms: really slick hardware-level scaling and rotation effects. And it allows you to treat an entire background--like in this stage, for example--as a single unit to scale and rotate.
This is another great title done by Star Team AKA: "Treasure" now. Other titles are> > >: Contra 3, Castlevania 4. I think their best shoot'em up was "Bangio" as Treasure. It was Hard in a fun way.
@FatherPrim: The game has several Gradius references, from certain enemies to background details (shattered Moai). No surprise, it's a Konami game, after all.
rich bass sound, awesome graphics and MODE 7 SUPER-SIZED FIREWORMS, SCREEN SIZED MAGMA CHEAP BOSS,DEFINITELY A SNES/KONAMI TREAT FROM MY PAST, (drrrrrrooooolllllll!)
"Arms installation is complete; good luck." Loved that!
THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
Yes! A fire dune planet! LMAO!
konami always does a good job with the music in their games. Especially back on the snes. Contra, this, castlevania. They used to roc!!

I don't think people really get that! It truly is!

truly brilliant - shame more Snes games did not match up to the technical excellence of this title.
@FatherPrim More likely they were a reference to "Salamander" ("LifeForce" in the U.S.) -it was the Stage 3 Boss.

Star Team made this for Konami...Some Star Team Broke up and left Konami to form Treasure....
with today's 2D capabilities, a company can put together an epic game like this.
