Having watched a lot of your videos, l must say that I am a huge fan of not only the product but a huge fan of yourself as a true gentleman and a consummate professional.
I particularly enjoy your down to earth friendly commentary and the relationship you have with the client benefits greatly for it. Further to this, your enthusiasm for the product and the belief in it makes me respect the heck out of what you're striving to do. Simply put, you're the greatest.
An absolutely top-notch video with an equally amazing product applied by someone who loves what they do and has pride in their workmanship. Ya, you got this Mike!
by far this is the best one for me , and the other guy was so happy to be apart of helping do his counters
I just can't get over your channel. I'm a disabled Vet. I get real upset because when the pain starts to affect me I have to stop what I'm doing. I generally relax and search RUclips for DYI and hacks on projects. I came across your channel the other day, this is about the third segment I've watched. I just love this channel. These projects you do are absolutely amazing and you are a very good teacher/speaker. You're the first channel I want to watch. Its very relaxing. Thanks for the healing process and and frustration management!! :-) You and Stone Coat Countertops staff are Awesome!!!
This guy is the Bob Ross of countertops 😯
110% agreed! I see many are trying to share their once undisclosed techniques, but Mike & Kathryn has the absolute best methods! Finally Mike is using a shop vac, horray!
Somebody that believes in what they are offering shows.
I thought the exact same thing. Lol
I was just thinking the exact same thing.
@ Donny Sandley _ I was thinking the same thing the way he talks and his energy level. Nice work.
I can’t wait to try this on my 70s yellow laminate countertops!
I absolutely love your videos. My husband and I live in a 5th Wheel RV and the existing countertop looks like a piece for a water slide. I found you guys on here and showed him what we could do to it and it helped me talk him into replacing it. Thank you so much and keep making awesome things!
Absolutely gorgeous! & I love his energy! & how he was so open to the homeowner being a "hands on" part of the whole creation process. I don't think most contractor's would be up for that!
This was by far the best video you’ll have produced! Love the second camera angle. That was very helpful.
Does the backsplash and edge trim come out as smooth since it is a vertical surface?
Looks so fun and satisfying... and to mk a living doing so is a blessing.
I love your videos and I can't wait to watch them when I get a new email!! I've done several pieces of my own and we're getting ready to do my daughter's counter tops. One thing that I happened on while working on a small table top is that if you do happen to get a few drips, you can go back and hit them with a heat gun and a scraper. It just peals right off. It's a lot easier than sanding and not as messy. I'm sure you already know this but, I thought it was worth passing along. Keep up the good work. You guys inspire us!!
I to am a big fan of yours. I watch a lot of your shows so I can learn to do my counter tops. I still have not seen what I want for my counter tops. Continue in watch your shows.
Great job MIKE
GOD BLESS YOU
BEL COULTER
Those came out really beautiful.

I love this, guess what I'm going to do to my counter tops?? Amazing
I love watching this video! I have never done anything DIY, but I love this and would love to update my 1950’s Formica L-shaped kitchen counter and bathroom sink. Love the accompanying music too!
I love how you explain detail by detail! I could watch your videos alllll day! Love you guys❤️
Very good tutorial. Lovely result
That countertop turned out phenomenal! I think I’ll do my bathroom countertop first-smaller job!
Awesome! Call or write us anytime for project support. (541)450-1979 Is this the color recipe you will be going with for your project Momnsyd?
I recently was tasked with redoing the counter tops for neighbors that were moving in since Im the neighborhood handyman but I've never done any countertop remodeling before. My first idea was to just install a new one since it was so old and beat up but through research I found out about epoxy resins. Although I just bough what was available at my local home depot, the process you described in this video worked just as well and now my neighbors counter tops look brand new! Keep up the helpful videos on all things epoxy!
Thank you for watching Tony!
When it was finished it really looked like old barn wood or cypress wood! I really love it! Thank you for sharing!
Superbly done - yet again - AND so neatly! Mike, I really like the way you explain everything with so many small details (such as using the different sides of the stick to make different kinds of lines). I especially liked the way that you involved Northrup (spelling?) - makes me feel that I could do it too.
Hi Isaac Madhaven,
Thank you for the great comments! We had a great time and having Northrup help out, made it the best! Thanks so much for watching the videos! You Got This!
Stone Coat Countertops I have a question, is the last clear coat, the same you used at the beginning?
Hi Mike, really good job I tell ya what it reminds me of, petrified wood and it looks really expensive. Regards from England
Did you give it a go, Tom? If you did, how was it?
I just finished doing half my kitchen counter. It was so scary but with this video I was able to do it. I am so excited to do the second half.
I LOVE this one!! To me it has a Woody texture look to it.. and I LOVE it!! Will look great as my headboard!!
Fantastic tutorial and an amazing finished product! Will definitely look into it! Wished you had shiwn the entire finished kitchen and windowsill all put together - would have loved to have seen it!
Thank you for this feedback Caren Wilson, it turned out beautiful!
Thank you!!! I love it!!! I’m doing it... Just gotta see if I can take my sink out by myself...lol
You Got This Kelsey Wilson!

Thanks guys for inspiring me!!! I love doing epoxy. After a long day of hard work I come home and get into the epoxy zone. Then I watch you videos. It's cool to see someone excited about epoxy like I am. I gotta say you guys are Og epoxy people
Wow!!! Fabulous work!! Great products!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on some❤️❤️❤️
A M A Z I N G. I hope that my project is as successful!
Post the process for us?
Wyzhir Johnson It won’t be.
Wow, it looks gorgeous! I don't think I could do that, I better do glitter ♥
StoneCoatCountertops :D I do!! I have One question, I have backsplash pieces on the back. Do I need to remove them to get it to come out smooth ♥
Absolutely love your videos. I’ve started to do epoxy recently and the way you do start to finish is top notch. I’m sure my counters will come out perfect using your product and after all the lil tricks I’ve picked up watching your videos.
Turned out so beautiful, I think this will be my choice for my countertops maybe even my floors...
How does this epoxy handle yellowing from age, scratching, and heat after it’s completely cured?
Very cool. If I had kids that understood the meaning of don't touch I would consider.
Send them to your relatives for a week. :D
Saw you guys in an ad and honestly, bombarded with big business commercials, it was refreshing to see your business doing something unique and interesting! Never heard of this before, too bad I live in an apartment..
This was an absolutely fantastic video, clear, concise and not a lot jabber jawing. 2nd camera angle really helped. I totally feel like, I can do this. Mike, you have a great camera presence. Thank you so much. As soon as my client approves the bid, I will place my order. Couldn't be happier with this video.
Beautiful.outcome but it would have been nice to see the entire finished look, including the window sill.
Wow! Clicking subscribe now from Australia 😁
dude that totally turned out different than i expected. I love this. Seems like something a man (or woman) could do for a living...thank you for such great stuff
My goodness this is SO cool! Im super stoked about attempting this for myself some day. You guys do such talented and amazing work . THANK YOU for sharing your talent and knowledge with the world. 😀❤
Great video!
Only suggestion, show the finished job with appliances in place so viewers get the full effect.
Thank you for your feedback KingReyOne! Are you planning any projects?
You had me at "some real flat, some real pokey" 😂❤
That’s technical jargon if I ever heard it.
I have used epoxy for years in my piano restoration business but I always ware a mask . Why are you not waring masks?
This guy is such a good teacher. I feel like I could actually competently redo my counters now
I love how you kept your support involved the entire time.
Big thumbs up brother
i work for a solid surface fabricator. specifically acrylic solid surface no stone work. this is pretty cool, you almost made this look like Corian Sorrel
Very cool tips. :) I would love to do my counters over. I would use tape (painters/masking etc.) on the underside so I wouldn't have to worry about drips. I use that method when making resin art so I won't have to watch or sand the drips off the canvas later. I don't have to monitor it but I do have to remove the tape when it gets to the gel stage/the drips stop. If I wait for the resin to fully cure the tape is super hard to take off but not hard at all at the gel stage. :D - Heidi
The epoxy is going to drip. And they clearly taped everything off. Ever heard of gravity?
@@wellyforpm ever heard of reading. She said she'd tape UNDER the counter. That way you pull the drips off with the tape. Genius.
You do a great tutorial on prep which really helps the amateur feel comfortable with trying the product.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I am super inspired to refinish my counters instead of replacing them.
I love this! Do you by chance have any photos of the finished kitchen when it was done with the back splash and all put together? The more I watch this, the more I am thinking of trying it myself!
Your professional! To me it would be a lot of work
an easy $900.00, 2 day handyman tradesman job
Really generous of you guys to share your process with the world
That's exactly the colors I'm looking for!!!
Looks great👏 But I was awaiting to see it all put together😭
Boy oh boy when you were doing it i was saying to myself 'oh hell no' because i didnt like the way it looked at all. but shut my mouth, the final countertop is crazy beautiful. my bad.
stashagarcia1
Dont feel bad, I was thinking the same thing when they had so many cells on it from the alcohol spray.
I was thinking the same but I questioned what to do if you don't like something. I was thinking to mop it all up and begin again but I so love the details on how to make a design work until your happy. His wife is happy then all is well lol.
You some time never know the results.
Super beautiful. Wonderful neutral colors! 🎨
Nice job. This old kitchen unit looks very fancy now.
Does the sink have to come out to install this? Love your work and videos!
Newpj58 that was answered in the video! No the sink does not have to come out. You can carefully mask off the sink while you apply the epoxy but the masking tape has to come off before the epoxy fully sets.
You will get better results if you do remove the sink. Plus if you were to decide to change your sink out to a different profile sink later on. If it were poured without removing the sink you could end up with the old countertop showing through if the sink were not a perfect fit. You eliminate that issue by removing the sink prior to starting the epoxying process.
Newpj58 ..he went over that in FIRST PART OF VIDEO...!!!
i wish these videos show or tell drying time frames between each process of when to apply next stage
Great feedback Greywolf0167 thank you!

In almost all cases you'll want to wait 24 hours in between coats
Wow! I love the finished look! Incredible
I live in Scotland and am interested in acrylic pouring so this has come timely. So many tips that I found useful. I shall follow you again. Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful skills.
Just out of curiosity, have you guys experimented with glow in the dark paints in small amounts in any your demo pieces. Wondered how they would react and if they would actually look good in regular light?
Yes they still do look great in normal lighting. I've used the glow in the dark pigment for several of my clients using other brand product and it looks beautiful even in the light. Im sure his product would as well.
What the primer and paint are based?
Water or oil based? Or any other material?
You guys are amazing!
Thanks!

you certainly give hope for new life for laminate counter tops!
So glad that you explain what you do and why you do it. Very informative.
You scared the hell out of me when you went under the sink for a slight second i thought i was seeing a but crack...WeW!..lol
i know right
No way is this a DIY project for regular folks. This is for professionals who know what they're doing and have the right equipment. This was totally interesting to watch, and I might hire this guy ... but I would not touch this project myself.
His site has all of the materials needed for the projects.
@Ninety5tag Just did mine today and there were a few dimples when i thought i got em all. Very easy and i had the same plan of getting new counters if this didn't turn out well. I'll be keeping mine for now and can't stress how easy it was putting down. Prepping is the hardest and longest part for time. Heat guns work, they just take a little longer.
You can definitely do this yourself. I did my countertops and they came out beautiful and it was exactly the color and look I wanted. I get compliments by every single person that has seen my countertops and can’t believe that I did them by myself I might add. I covered all my floors which at the time were brand new and my cabinets in 3 ml plastic I didn’t use the paper and nothing was damaged. The one thing they don’t really stress is don’t leave any lights on while the epoxy is drying because it attracts bugs and the bugs will get stuck in the epoxy. Good luck. You got this👍
@@AnaisAthena what colors did you choose?
Going to try this now. Very informative and thanks for explaining every step
Stunning ! Thank you for sharing you can see and feel your passion...Its wonderful
I want to see the finished project with back splash.
maybe i just havnt come across any videos with the back splash included "yet", but seems they are could be leaving them out for a reason.?.? could be just the nature of the beast.

The video link shows one with a backsplash that looks great.
I always think the same thing. Perhaps men don't just care that way?
Having the client hovering around would drive me mad. Awesome job!
Willie Coulter that’s what I was thinking as well. However, when he put him to work, I realized the guy just wanted to learn and be a part of the process.
that guy gave my a sense the he was a little kid in a cany shop type of feel.

@@ricoluna5057 I as others guessed as much. If you hover your mouse over to the right of your comment you will see 3 dots in a vertical (up & down) line. It is there you have the option to "edit" or "delete" your comment.
That is really amazing. It looks like the surface of Jupiter! Even with the eye! wow!
All I can say is this is Beautiful. I love it. It look better then the real thing.
I'm curious about how the epoxy countertop performs when a hot pan is placed onto the epoxy? Looks great though.
Epoxy is heat resistant, but not heatproof. You could keep a solidly hot pan on it for a few, but you can risk damage. It won't instantly damage like laminate countertops, though.
can you use a regular hair dryer on full blast instead of a torch or heat gun to burst air bubble ?
simsonmotorader +maybe not, 'no air movemrnt'.
carbon dioxide from the burning propane is what removes the air bubbles, not heat.
You guys never cease to amaze me...counter top was stunning
You sir, love your job. And you're an artist. Thanks.
Is there a reason in particular that you like using the Torches versus a high-quality heat gun?
torches do not have cords that you might accidentally drag over a wet corner and ruining it.
it's not heat you are looking for. propane, when burned, releases carbon dioxide which is what you need to remove the air bubbles.
Beautiful work!! How durable & scratch resistant are these new surfaces ?! Thanks
;)
I notice no one is responding to these type questions. Resin is great with heat but it does get scratched up and you can patch coat it fairly easily but it is still work.
Wow! LOVE the way they turned out! Looks like wood to me and so beautiful. 👍
I absolutely love the colors! Beautifully done!!
I feel like I'm in a Moogle village listening to this background music.
In a video I watched previously you stated something about preventing it from feeling sticky....so my question is kitchens are always hot is there something that is put on the epoxy/resin that will prevent the heat from making it sticky or become gooey again? Also what if a child learning to cook accidentally places something hot on the surface will it melt into a gooey mess? Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Great question Dragonfly Goddess! Stone Coat Countertop epoxy is durable. You can set hot pots and pans directly on the surface; however, just as any countertop surface, we suggest you still use hot pads, as it's nonporous and food safe. You can clean with normal household countertop cleaners, but soap and water generally does the trick. Not much will damage the surface as far as spills and stains, but it's good to clean up spills after you're finished cooking and using your tops to prep. It takes three days for light use, seven days for cure and thirty days to a full cure where our durability video tests are shown at. Here is a link to our durability video showing what Stone Coat Countertops can take, we have tested up to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. ruclips.net/video/YLUteivXWaM/видео.html

@@StoneCoatCountertops so everyday cleaners including something like Clorox clean up.
What about being wet all the time? What about using some type of texture to prevent say a slip if you did this on a concrete floor? Is there something that can be done/used to create that texture that does not stick/adhere to the resin? Thank you in advance.
Congrats, when you are finished, enjoy your toxic kitchen countertop!
@@damon6852 why are you saying that?
It looks like stoned wood!! Definitely my thing!!! Wow!
You do a awesome job making it look easy. The finished product is amazing. Love it. I worked in the Natural stone industry. And that is very pricey.
You should have shown the kitchen put back together.
BEAUTIFUL
... NOTE...
In some places in the video.. the
Background music was too loud, making
it hard to hear both of you talking...
Thank you for this feedback Judi Christopher! We appreciate that!
I like how you guys go step by step.
Gorgeous colour and finish....love it x
Amazing! I was wondering if you can put hot stuff on it? Is there something special you do to support high heat?
Thanks!
They have a video showing the durability and it's heat resistant. I was wondering the same thing and I finally stumbled over the video
What happens the first time someone sets a hot pan on the counter?
ruclips.net/video/uC0KgVgiQ7s/видео.html
After 30 days, quite resilient..
Your videos are so informative! And given me the confidence to take this on myself. Thanks again.,
I can't stop watching these videos...These pours turn out so freaking cool...I can't wait to do this to my small bathroom and if all goes well then my entire house
How does the final product stand up to food prep and or knife marks and age ?
American 69 I believe a chopping block would be in order, you also wouldn’t put a hot pan on it. Treat it like you would any other counter top
@@chelebowns8078 the super fantastic thing is IF it does get gouged or scratched, you can fill it in with more clear epoxy after a light sand!
Kirsten Dickson right! Although my first thought was to buff it
Here's a V E R Y detailed experiment you can see... they put two extremely hot pans on the counter top and you can see what happens. Blew my mind and made me feel a LOT better about deciding to do this ! ruclips.net/video/YLUteivXWaM/видео.html
At approximately 3:50 where everything has been masked off, is there a reason why the cabinet doors on other side of the peninsula (lower left of screen) not covered?
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this lol
My thought was it's a larger overhang. I could be wrong.
Yeah I'm guessing the overhang is big enough it doesn't matter.
I was thinking the same and notice it wasnt treated as well as other se ction. I cringed during spraying.
Brilliant. Watched the entire video and was therapeutic because you very good at your job and clearly have pride in what you do. Well done, keep up the great work.
That is absolutely gorgeous!!
How tough is the epoxy as far as silly folks (like my wife) who like chopping with a knife on the counter top? Looks great as always by the way.
Appreciate your response. Thank you so much.
I am that wife. LOL!
I probably wouldn’t cut on any counter surface at all.
They have a new invention called a cutting board and they can be picked up at home improvement stores or places like Bed Bath and beyond. A knife on the epoxy will scratch and gouge the surface and will not make a quality knife keep it's edge long. Cheep knives will dull quickly. Epoxy is a harder surface than the plastic or wood cutting boards but softer than glass. Never ever ever ever use real stone or glass cutting boards they are knife killing machines ( the dark siths of cutting boards ). You can buy them and I have no idea why they are even sold!? A nice bamboo cutting board or the plastic ones will last for many years maybe a life time and cost next to nothing. They save time ( sharpening knives ) and clean up quick. Plus you aren't going to be spreading chicken juice ( samanila) on the counter. My wife has been a commercial cook for 30 years and nearly lost her mind when we first got together when I tried using the counter for cutting up chicken. I was BANNED from kitchen for awhile so she could sanitize the counter........My bad!
Please don't take my starting comment as snarky it's a light hearted joke from Captain Obvious my alter ego!!
Scott Hopkins Nice comment. Wouldn't the "chicken juice" drip off the cutting board onto the counter top anyway?
50$ per hour for me to do the job
100$ per hour if you want to watch
200$ per hour if you want to help
That's beautiful, like a work of art. Great job.
I absolutely love this, beautiful!
