    Rip, I rode up the lift with you back on mt. Hood, as a 14 year old kid, 44 now and just want to say you were an inspiration to me ,, and still are.

    RIP Bill. Thanks for the memories and all that you, Dennis, Brad and Scott taught me here in Crested Butte.

    Crazy. Didn't look like this crash would've hurt him as bad as it did. I've seen crashes much more violent that people walk away from with no injuries at all.

    I was there that day standing on corkscrew as a young ski racer. It was horrific to watch.

    Obviously I'm wrong...but you would thing that all that fencing did a good job of buffering the crash and reducing injury. I wonder if is was the velocity of the spinning that cause him his brain damage or spinal compression???

    One crash altered his life for the remainder.

    the overall compression should be expected, but i'm not sure about that sudden trough.

    Do we still count this as an alpine skiing death due to dying of the crash’s consequences?

    • @206BenJammin
      @206BenJammin 2 года назад +8

      I would. His death was a very proximate result of injuries from the accident that he never recovered from.

    • @PhilAndersonOutside

      His entire life was completely altered and he never fully recovered. So me this means the answer is yes.
