- Hello lovely people!
If you're a regular to my channel then there's not a lot in this little book that you haven't already seen...but I do a little evangelising at the start so that's nice!
Seriously, you will never regret developing a sketchbook habit. It's the most perfect example of a toy for big girls and boys I can think of - always something to trap in those pages, like a fly in aspic, except prettier, one would hope!
I mention I'll be conducting an art course in early June - if you would like to learn how to handle ink and watercolour in the most silly and playful way imaginable, then do send me an email and I will add you to the list. I am giving a free taster class on 22nd April 7.00-9.00pm UTC+1 and even though I am currently oversubscribed it's not by too much, and there are so many people in the wrong time zone, or who have commitments, so I still think there'll be space.
I will be writing a piece for my blog soon about why I am such a madwoman evangelist for sketching. It has totally changed my life and it can do the same for you too (I'm assuming you wouldn't mind a bit of a change!). If you subscribe to my blog - wish I could tell you how to do that, but you can probably figure it out - then you'll get my ramblings once a week...but I warn you, I am quite insistent!
Take up your pens...and sketch. And subscribe to my channel and I will keep you company along the way.
Love

Thank you Roisin. I'm made the decision to learn how to draw properly and paint with watercolours at the beginning of this year. I have made a habit of carrying a little sketch book with me everywhere. I have watched lots and lots of YT videos on people's sketchbooks but none have inspired me like yours. I love how your book is about your life and how evident your humour and joy is in everything you have done. I hope one day I might be able to produce sketch books as interesting as yours.
Thanks so much for your lovely words Ms Dembones. I am so happy to hear you are starting your journey in this beautiful activity - and I’m honoured to be part of it! Good luck and bon courage! ❤️
What a fabulous sketchbook! It’s SO vibrant and full of life and your narration is very entertaining. I loved the recipes and the goggled blackbird too! And Kinvara and the cliff walk and Bray sea front - you’ve captured them all so evocatively. Love the terrier on his back too…the picture of contentment! Just gorgeous. 👏👏👏😍
What a beautifully-put description! Thank you so much, it really means a lot that you noticed all these things. Are you new to my channel?
Roisin, Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring sketch book….I LOVED the googles on the blackbird…and the idea of shrews eating mushrooms made me smile😊. I have started to do plein air sketch/drawing over the past few months and can feel how different it is from drawing from photos. Even if the subject is a coffee cup in an airport….you look differently and you remember where you were and how you felt….maybe it’s that taking time and observing…I’m loving it.😊….thank you so much for your inspiring videos.
Preach!!! Leigh you’re putting into words so succinctly what I found myself also. I am thrilled you too have discovered the magic of drawing from life - it’s so much more than just drawing, isn’t it? It’s experiencing all the tiny things that make life so full of wonder ❤️🤩🥰
@@roisincure beautifully said ^^
Oh my! The sushi page is amazing! In fact, it's all lovely 😍
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the flip through on your sketchbook. I love the way you illustrate your recipes with animals. I like your use of colors and shading.
It’s my pleasure and thank you for your lovely words. 😊
Watching a video of your sketches is such a treat, thankyou 💛
I love them all
I’m so glad you enjoy them! ❤️
Love the pinky-red ink on the tulip drawing!
I’m glad you noticed that and that you liked it!
So beautiful. Really enjoyed❤
I’m happy to hear that!
This is so gorgeous, watched and enjoyed till the end ☺☺
Thank you very much for saying so! ❤️
Aw, I could've sat watching that all day! Love all these techniques, and the personalities that shine through. I had a cartoon strip when I lived in the Outer Hebrides... the characters didn't cook, but they played musical instruments! A bit like myself 🤔😄
Nice one Donna! I bet it was a rich place to grow up…I’ve read a little about it! And thank you 🤩
The animals cooking could be a fun cookbook for kids.
I have your Dublin sketch book it’s fantastic I absolutely love it. I used to live in Dublin so it was a nice trip down memory lane.
That’s so nice to hear Nik! I did think about a kids’ cookbook but I’d have to make it easier! So I’m thinking more of art playtime for adults at the moment!
It makes me very happy to think you’ve enjoyed my Dublin book ❤️
I like all of your your watercolors, but the flowers in the beginning just blew me away.
Thank you very much! I found a bit of a groove there alright!
So talented and you are hilarious.
Thanks so very much! ❤️🩷
I've enjoyed it very much, the sketches as well as the stories😂😍
I’m delighted to hear that Irene! ❤️
always love looking at your sketches, thanks Roisin
Thank you very much Louise!!
Excellent works!🎉❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you! 🤩
Wonderful !👌✨
Thank you Katy 🥰
Great sketchbook.
The flowers are fabulous.
& The herring making pasta is brilliant.
Happy birthday Roisin.
Keep sharing.
Thank you, that’s very lovely to hear!
There's a heron in our local woods I see quite often, wading in the ponds. He's huge! Never seen him cooking though 😉
@@elizabliss6528ah you’re not hanging around long enough Eliza 😂
@@roisincure poor thing gets disturbed by my naughty dog flushing him out!
@@elizabliss6528 I’ve found them to be very shy…maybe they are wary of dogs!
Oh my gosh! Those flowers…swoon!! I love the idea of ‘Meterological March’ although here in Canada, in my neck of the woods, it would be all white all the way through LOL
Your sketches are SO amazing, Roisin, as are the lovely stories that go with. Thank you so much for this ❤️
Thank you Didi! Snow is beautiful too paint too but I wouldn’t last very long outside! Lovely words. Very much appreciated. ❤️🥰🙏
wooow so beautiful! I feel really inspired 😍
I’m so happy to hear that, it’s such a great feeling, like you can’t wait to get your art stuff out ❤️
Wow.
😍🤩
Oh my goodness! It took my so long to watch this video, because I had to pause over and over again to catch all those details. Just wonderful, love it! ❤
That must have been long indeed! Makes me very happy to know that! Thank you 🤩
Lovely works ✨
Thank you!
Got so wrapped up in the fun of the drawings, I forgot that great recipes were to be tried out 😂 not forgetting your personal dictionary.. “sqirrelyness”. I just love it. The indelible picture of your grumpy family at Gatwick😂. I could go on and on. Your drawings are the best.
Thanks a bazillion Marie Louise. I had a blank page that cried out for that drawing at Gatwick. I was also last off the plane (because I hate the crush) and the steps were taped off, only the mobility-impeded lift was there and I said “I don’t think I’m supposed to be here!” - finally got off the plane, cue more furious family tramping towards the exit…
Your pygmy creatures are adorable.
Thank you! 🙏
The flowers are so vibrant and gorgeous. 😍
Thanks! It’s a great technique ❤️
OMG this is so good 😍😍
Thanks so much!
