I just stumbled across your channel, and I have to say, I absolutely ADORE you and your style of sketching/painting Roisin!!! ❤😍 You make me want to pack my bags and move from Alabama to Ireland. 😄 I feel like our humor is similar and we would be “fast friends” as they say! I’m now off to your website to check out your classes and such. 😊 Thank you for your talent AND humor!
Well Harriet I’m delighted to make your acquaintance across the Atlantic Ocean! So pleased you like what I do…I’m currently putting the final bits of white paint on a sketch for my next video!
Oh, happiness! A new Roisin video! Really tired today so just watching colors flow into each other was perfect! Also loved that little look when you wiggled your palette at the beginning. Thanks for cheering up my evening!
I got a “strike” from RUclips about the music clip, even though it’s royalty-free…but it’s so much trouble to jump through the hoops so I took it off and re-uploaded the video 😞
Thanks to YT algorithms, I found you! Thanks ever so much for sharing your talents with the world. It is a relief to know that I am not the only one making huge swatching color charts, which I do not find helpful. Since colors can be mixed in many different ratios, the chart would not reflect all of the possibilities. The better way (for me) is to experiment on an actual painting, as consulting a chart would take too long and be less helpful than testing on scrap in advance. Or, maybe I'm just too lazy! Great ideas on the color mixing. One portrait artist felt that all skin tones were some variation of orange. BIPOC subjects would also have blue and green in shadow areas. As an aside, DH and I just love "your" TV series. Acceptable Risk, Blood, Single Handed, Jack Taylor and Striking Out are among our faves.
Thanks so much, it’s very humbling that you have connected in some way with the presentation of colour that I thought might be helpful. Those colour charts just look like the colour called “rainbow” and one loses sense of them as individuals. I’m a bit confused as to what you mean by “my” series - none of the titles you mention mean anything to me! What are they?
I looked them up - I have never heard of any of them! We never watch RTE but it’s still really odd that in a country the size of Ireland I don’t know of them…. and I’m a big fan of series… Anyway I’m very happy you like them!
Pthalo green looks a lot like Veridian which I threw away because I didn’t like it. I wish I had kept it and experimented more with mixing it with other colours.
It does look like it but I never liked my viridian either. Kind of watery. But like you I never experimented with it! That was MANY MANY boxes of paint ago 😂
@@roisincure I’m glad it’s not just me that doesn’t like Viridian and like you it was a long time ago that I threw mine out. I couldn’t understand why it was included in the paintbox which was a Cotman travel one.
I hope this will help with the Veridian comments. True Veridian, is a lovely green, veering towards blue. It is a non-staining pigment PG18. Phthalo green is a staining PG7. Most Veridians are not the more expensive PG18, but a wee bit of PG18 mixed with mainly PG7. That is usually the case with student grade paints and the Veridian that comes in sets, as it is expensive. Most manufacturers tend to put the less expensive pigments in sets.

I think the lilac mix would make beautiful mountains! Glad to know it is possible to make now! Thanks, Roisin!
Yes it might actually! With a bunny holding weird kebabs sitting on top 😊

@@roisincure Sorry I wasn't more clear - as I meant Irish series.
@joykruczay no that’s fine, I’m just really interested that I was so unaware of home-grown shows.
