The NFL in 2012 had many crazy storylines; bounty gate suspensions, Randy Moss coming out of retirement, the replacement refs, Peyton Manning's return with a new team, the Ravens improbable run, and more.

Worth Mentioning:
Rookie Linebacker Luke Kuechly lead the league in tackles and won DROY.
Charles Tillman finished the season as an All-Pro with 10 Forced Fumbles and 3 interceptions that all went for touchdowns.
Brian Urlacher would not resign with the Bears after the season and he subsequently retired.
Matt Schaub delivered a game where he posted the second highest passing yardage ever in a game with 527.
After Super Bowl 47, Ray Lewis retires and safety Ed Reed moves on from Baltimore.
The Kansas City finished with the worst record in the NFL despite boasting 6 Pro Bowlers.
The Saints defense allowed the most yards ever in a 16-game season.
Kuechly won DPoY in his second season, not his rookie
@@itscole83 My mistake - I meant to put DROY.
Still, he won two prestigious awards in his first two years in the league. That’s impressive!
Alex Smith went to that 2-14 KC team and forst year with Andy Reid. They rattled off a 9-0 start. Making the playoffs with a ridiculous upset loss to the Colts.
cannot forget the superbowl was a battle of brothers
Thought Bobby Wagner deserved to win that year but Luke Kuechly was an animal
every time i see you post the 10 year ago from today i drop everything to watch it it reminds of how fast time goes i appricate the content you’ve brought us over the years KTO
I graduated ten years ago 😢
Same here!
💯
Damn I was 10 years old 😅 I miss all of these memories tho
Same here graduated too
Seeing how the Falcons blew a 17 point lead, seems like things haven’t changed much
You savage. I bet only 28.3 percent of Atlanta fans agree with you.
3-28
Adding fuel to the fire, they blew a 20-point lead in the divisional round and almost lost
Please don't remind me 😞
Gotta watch the Secret Base 7-hour history of the Falcons.
This is the season I really began watching football. The emotions here are strong. I miss watching Peyton Manning so much. RIP Demaryius Thomas. I love your work KTO!

The “what was the _____ like ____ years ago” videos are my favorite. Keep up the work KTO
that ray rice run was so crazy. he didn’t that in the clutch too!!
WHOOOO DEEEYY
That “mile high miracle” throw by Flacco to Jacoby Jones against Denver at the end of the game is one of my greatest moments ever as a Ravens fan. I’ll never forget my
friend tackled me over the coffee table we were so excited. Great memories and one of the greatest games ever played in my opinion!
As a broncos fan this kills me everytime I see it
remember it vividly even tho i was so young i was like 7, but my cousins were getting ready to leave, everyone is hugging goodbye, but wait, flacco down field. caught. everyone is running around screaming and shouting and everything stood still for a minute
🤣 bro me and like 4 friends went out to a sports bar and snuck in booze, we were seniors in high school. When jacoby scored that td we went fucking off. Almost got kicked out. I'll never forget that game. Probably the best ravens game I've ever seen..
@Rowdy Jr lol
Mad… 2012 was really 10 years ago! Time flies…
As a ravens fan, I was like there’s no way he forgot about 4th and 29. But another thing was Ray Lewis. He was injured in week 6 I believe and came back for the playoffs. And announced he would retire at the end of the season. He ended his career on a Super Bowl victory
Not too mention Terrell Suggs coming back from a torn Achilles in just less than 6 months. His first game was one week after Ray Lewis tore his triceps.
Hey diddle diddle ray rice up the middle
I'm a chargers fan and always talk about that play. I just knew he was gonna mention it on it. I was hoping not tho lmaaoo
Got goosebumps when I saw that Demaryius Thomas highlight. Crazy to think he was drafted in 2010 and died at age 33. Gone too soon man. Great video
As a Houston fan, I still can't believe how good we were that year. Oh how everything crumbled so quick after
That Patriot letterman jacket game
Tbh it crumbled slowly they kept making the playoffs with that core but it was just beat Andy dalton and then flop
Ray rice was a beast of a player.
Shame that he couldn’t keep it together off the field
they didnt care about CTE back then
These 10 year old videos are such a wonderful thing. It brings out past memories and I can't wait for next year.
Forgot to mention the tumultuous 2012-13 Kansas City Chiefs, a season involving a player committing a murder-suicide, A blackout at Arrowhead Stadium during a Week 11 game against the Bengals, The Chiefs were head-coached by the recently retired Romeo Crennel and new Giants HC Brian Daboll was also on the Chiefs staff. The Chiefs were quarterbacked by both Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn that year. The following 2013 offseason, the Chiefs hired former Eagles HC Andy Reid and traded for former 49ers QB Alex Smith.
Yup awful year to be a Chiefs fan
I didn't start watching the NFL outside of the Super Bowl until 2011, and ended up picking the Chiefs for my team. Then 2012 happened and it was brutal... I remember that season all too well.
But in retrospect compared to where the Chiefs are now, I look back on 2012 still remembering how bad it was, but it also sure made eventually winning Super Bowl LIV SSSSOOOO much sweeter.
Given KTO's recent videos on the 2008 Dolphins and 1976-77 Bucs, the 2012 Chiefs would be a great (and very sad) video for a deep dive too I think.
Was this the same year they didn't have a single Wide receiver catch a TD pass? Lol that's insane to me.
@@judmagers7428 Nah, that was 2014 for that oddity. That season was just underwhelming, but thankfully nowhere near as bad as 2012.
@@judmagers7428 No that was the 2014-15 season
My goodness that was the smoothest transition into an Ad I’ve ever seen 😂
Ray Rice seems like an up and coming player. Really Elevated his play that year. Seemed like the knock out punch the ravens needed to win the big game.
His girlfriend was beautiful, a knockout
I sense the irony in your comment
I LOVE THIS SERIES! It’s crazy that I was only 10-11 years old this season and I’m able to remember a lot of these. By 2013 and beyond I’ll be able to remember everything!
You always will man, at that age I always remember Eli Manning beating the Patriots thanks to the helmet catch. I'm finally at the age where everyone I remember then (besides Brady) has retired. Enjoy your first generation of players as an NFL fan. They're gone before you know.
Dang dude, already 10 years 😔 this was the first year I seriously started watching football and as a young fan it’s crazy how the time has flown… Thank you for the amazing video KTO! Go Steelers!!!
This season was unforgettable as a niner fan . Crushes me everytime
You guys got screwed over twice by the Refs and if it wasn't for them, you guys would've have 7 rings in your franchise history.
I think there should be a video dedicated to "NFL Plays that changed a season". For example, you used the Ray Rice 4th & 29 play for 2012. In 2011, it was the Dez Bryant fingertips out of bounds against the Giants. I can try to help:
2001 - Jets beat the Raiders in the last game of the season on a last-second FG that forced the Raiders to play in the first round of the playoff instead of hosting the second round of the playoffs. If the Raiders win that game, it's possible the Tuck Rule game never happens and/or the Raiders beat the Patriots in sunny California instead of losing in snowy New England.
2002 - Patriots beat the Dolphins in OT in comeback fashion, knocking out the Dolphins and putting the Jets in the playoffs.
2003 - The infamous "The Cardinals have knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs!" play.
2004 - Week 15 - The Lions miss the game-tying extra point, which helped the Vikings make the playoffs and beat the Packers in Lambeau Field in the playoffs.
2005 - Week 14 - Chiefs have the lead against the Cowboys late, but a holding penalty keeps the Cowboy's drive alive, thus leading to the Cowboys score. Chiefs end up missing the playoffs by one game. Steelers, instead, take the 6th seed and win the Super Bowl that year.
2006 - To return the favor, the Steelers beat the Bengals in OT (and the 49ers beat the Broncos in OT) to put the Chiefs in the playoffs as the 6th seed.
2007 - A penalty and a timeout give Brady and the Patriots second chances against the Ravens to help continue their undefeated season.
2008 - In Week 1, a fourth down stop in the 4th quarter by the Ravens against the Bengals gives them a 11-5 record, which is just enough to beat out the Patriots for the 6th seed.
2009 - Jets stop a Brady attempt to tie the game late in Week 2. Jets end up going 9-7, tying 4 other teams and getting the 5th spot. Ended up making it to the AFC Championship Game.
2010 - A 4th down stop late in the game in Week 1 helps the Packers win in Philadelphia for the first time in 40+ years. Packers end up being the 6th seed and winning the Super Bowl.
Just a few suggestions 😉
As a Ravens fan this season will also be something special
As a Ravens fan, this season was such a rollercoaster.
Torrey Smith’s game vs the Pats and the sus field goal to win, mind you the 2011 AFCCG was still very fresh in our minds when rookie kicker Justin Tucker kicked that.
Ray Lewis getting injured, declared his “last ride” before the playoffs.
4th & 29.
Getting blown out at home by the Broncos, only to beat them in the playoffs a month later.
Beating the crap out of the defending SB champs in order to clinch the AFCN (btw - they rested their starters for the last game, so it’s not for sure they lose the division if they lose the Chargers game).
Then the playoff run of beating the hated Colts who always had the Ravens number in the playoffs, then the Broncos with the Mile High Miracle, a revenge win in the AFCCG, and of course the Harbaugh Bowl that became the Blackout Bowl, which ended with a Ravens W.
That seasons gonna last with us forever holy heck was it a ride.
The year the Vikings had a running back as a qb 😂
Born and raised in Baltimore. It was a great year to be a Ravens fan
that 2012 ravens season deserves a movie, justin tucker's rookie season with 3 game winning FGs, torrey smith's winning performance after losing his brother, the 4th and 29 checkdown, limping as division leaders losing 4 out of the last 5, flacco being unstoppable on that playoff run, ray lewis' last home game vs a surging andrew luck (pat mcafee was there btw), the entirety of the denver game, taking revenge against NE and snapping brady's 67-0 streak when leading at halftime at home, ending on the harbaugh bowl or the blackout game with a goal line stand after a massive momentum switch, and it being the year art modell had passed away (hence those art patches), the SB win pissed off their divisional rival's fanbase to no end
"All Season Long around the country they said this team couldn't get to the playoffs. Couldn't get past the Colts because we never beat them in the playoffs. Couldn't possibly get past the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning. And we could never beat Tom Brady and the Patriots in Foxboro. And how could the Ravens ever beat the San Francisco 49ers who were favored in Super Bowl XLVII. But the rest of the nation forgot what we know. And that is, when Ray Lewis said that this would be his last ride. We would be in for a magic carpet ride!"
-Ravens Play-Play Announcer Gerry Sandusky (At the Super Bowl Parade)
@@michaelhession2105 sounds like something someone in his position would say, but yeah...the ravens had never beat the colts in the playoffs until that time
@@Megalopros I agree. Because Sandusky grew up idolizing the Baltimore Colts before they moved because his father John was an Offensive and Defensive Line coach. And for them to finally get past Indianapolis was a huge relief. This is what Cleveland is trying to do to us yet the precious narratives are still there.
I’m so happy you uploaded today my man, sorry you guys got Josh Rosen
Seriously, zero mentions of Ray Lewis? It was the headline of the Super Bowl, last game of one of the best linebackers ever...
hey KTO, great video as always.
i just want to give feedback on how you chose to integrate those plays with the TV animation.
it’s a nice idea, i just find it a bit hard to make out everything.
i‘d find it better if you either show the play without that TV ’window‘ or if you make the entire thing a little bigger.
i‘m on my phone but i am sure others might have the same issue.
Feel like you should have mentioned how Flacco had one of the greatest playoff runs in history. 11tds 0ints. Only matched by Joe Montana
I started watching football in 2012 and ever since I found KTO a few years ago I've been waiting for this video. 🔥
I was a senior in high school during the 2012 season! Talk about time literally flying by!!!!
Also, the Buttfumble sealed Mark Sanchez's fate with the Jets! 😂😂
As a Jets fan I would also say it sealed rex Ryan’s fate as well
If you can please make a video about the 2015 NFL season because that season was something different
That freaking Broncos comeback...
I thought it was over. I flipped to a different channel because it was clearly over. I check ESPN later to find out I missed my favorite team mount the comeback of the year. I still kick myself over that one.
That’s still my favorite Broncos regular season game ever. I was at the bar full of charger fans getting clowned then that freaking sweet comeback happened😎
Can’t believe ray rice beat the defense like that on one play. Really punched through for that first down.
2012, the true birth of the Seattle Seahawks fanbase!
One of the best years of my life. Best part of that season was I won twenty from Trey on the SB!
You could easily make these videos 30-60 min, great stuff
KTO. Hey man thanks. You definitely have one of the coolest, educational, unique documentaries about football on these RUclips streets. Thanks man. Definitely in my rotation heavy.
That was a smooth transition into your sponsor, KTO. I'm gonna sign up, as soon as I finish this video ✌️
Thanks for showing some love to my Falcons (even though they blew a lead in the Conference Championship game).
Hopefully,
the NFL-- and all other major sports-- will become watchable, again.
#ChuckStrong #RIPDT
Not hating but- what makes them unwatchable now?
@@connor8762 conservative media and politicians all complaining how “woke” they’ve become. Sure, the pandering is a bit extreme. But the term “woke” is just a go to punchline that has become beyond tedious.
Damn KTO... The nostalgia kick you gave me. I absolutely love it man. Great video... Amazing job my guy
One of my first seasons to actually be able to remember. 2012 was a great year, and a great disappointment because of my niners.
I was watching a bunch of these last night. Awesome that you release the latest one right now
2012 Adrian Peterson is easily one of the most dominant athletes I’ve ever seen
Thank you so much for this nostalgia ride! Not everyone gets to say they watched their team win a superbowl. Let alone the way the Ravens did!
Ray Lewis vs Patrick Willis in the super bowl was dope asf💯 like Jordan and Kobe at their respective positions
2012 was such an interesting season. Replacement refs, fail mary, bounty gate fallout, Luck, Wilson, and RG3’s rookie season, Peyton Manning’s rebound when joining the Broncos, Tebow traded to the Jets, butt fumble, Kaepernick’s rise, the Cardinals starting 4-0 only to finish 5-11, the infamous 7-6 Lindley vs Sanchez/McElroy game, the eagles and bears fired Andy Reid and Lovie Smith, last time a non QB won league MVP, mile high miracle, and the Ravens winning it all despite losing 4 of their last 5 games in the regular season.
The nostalgia in this video is crazy. What a masterpiece of a video.
RIP Jacoby Jones
Been waiting for this one‼️
Love these videos cant click fast enough when i see one pop up in my subscription box!!
As a young, 8th grade football player, this was the season that got me hooked to the NFL
crazy, just yesterday i was just thinking about when this year’s edition was coming out. great content as usual
How about a vid of 20 years ago. I became a fan around that time. Great vid as always KTO!
How about 43 years ago when i became a fan?
i feel like this season isn’t remembered as well or talked about as much bc of what came directly after and before it. plus the super bowl champ was considerably weaker than normal. so were the 2011 giants, but there was so much offense that regular season. 2012 was crazy and yet it seems to be glossed over by a lot of younger and older fans alike
2012 WAS the year for the NFL finally people talk about it. The great qbs and great defenses and wrs left to the biggest stand off between 8 teams in the playoffs, who ever won divisional Lin nfc east or north was going to the sb same with afc
And win for nfc
Season recaps like these are awesome
Dare I say it, but the replacement refs were actually right at the end of that 2012 Packers-Seahawks game. According to the NFL rulebook, a simultaneous catch counts as a reception for the offensive player. The “Fail Mary” wasn’t such a fail after all.
I don’t think it was simultaneous.
@@tuckerseifert3977, I know it’s easier to tell which player had their mitts on the ball first in a situation like that when watching in slow motion, but I don’t think something like that can be challenged. If an offensive and defensive player both snatch a ball in midair and then both come down wrestling for the ball, it goes down as a reception for the offensive player. The “Fail Mary” was actually called properly by the replacement refs.
Wild this was 10 years ago I feel so old. I’d say around this time or just before is when I really started to watch football every week
Wasn’t getting your videos and kinda forgot about one of the most entertaining channels ever but thanks for all your hard work brotha
I made the trip to San Diego for the Ravens/Chargers game that year as my friend was a Ravens fan and wanted someone to go with. It was hard to see what happened on that 4th and 29 play from where we were sitting, but I remember the review taking like a half hour. Hard to believe that was 10 years ago
All I can think about is how this type of video for next 10 years is just gonna show all the pain for packer fans and how Aaron Rodgers Career has been playoff loss after playoff loss
Man this was a crazy nostalgia bomb. I was 12 years old and 5 years deep into playing pop Warner and being a stats nerd for the NFL. As a niners fan this season was so memorable
As a Texans fan, I miss this time period. The Bulls On Parade defense was peak, JJ Watt was still in his prime and had his first DPOY season as a second year player and Johnathan Joseph wasn't getting burned on every play.
Now that was a smooth transition to a sponsor. Keep it up KTO!
As a Seahawks fan, 2012 was the start of our super bowl run. The championship fuse was lit after sending the Bears to the shadow realm. Also Matt Ryan hardly clutched up for that playoff win. Falcons blew a massive lead, Pete Carrol couldn't hold on to it.
I remember thinking the hawks had that game, couldn’t believe the falcons got that field goal at the end
I remember from 09-14 being such a dedicated ravens fan. So the 2013 playoffs were so crazy to me. I remember every detail of it!
I had madden 13 on my Wii U, it was my first ever madden. I vividly remember drawing all sorts of crazy routes on the game pad. Good times.
That ad segway was ruthless, great video as usual btw
2012 was the season I became a 49ers fan. Funnily enough, I was a Kapernick fan because of the Madden 13 demo, this was wayyy before Alex Smith even got hurt and seeing him take the field after I started playing with him in the Demo solidified me as a fan for the rest of my life.
rest of your life? you saying you're still a fan of that race baiter liar who did so much damage to football as a sport?
Fun story about the Fail Mary game,
At the time I was a regular visitor of the NFL Rush website, basically a Kids website with Games, team pages, and a Pick making tool.
Despite me believing that I knew all the teams (Except for the Chiefs until midway through the 2011 season)
I didn’t recognize the Seahawks logo seeing them up against the Packers,
But I gravitated towards that Logo matchup on the Pick Em page,
My preference for Animal teams hadn’t fully kicked in however, so I picked the Packers.
And when I heard my Dad reacting negatively to the fail Mary I thought it was just because he wanted the Packers to win.
Not knowing too much about what hell had just been unleashed.
Granted I was 6 years old and thought a Quarter was 25 minutes instead of 15 so that was too be expected.
It was also the best season in Texans history so that’s something.
Man alot of memories. The year started with one of the best games, AFC championship. Then seeing the ravens take it the following year was great.
As a Broncos fan I remember these seasons well
I was young asf but crazily remember most of the players and some of the stuff that happened
I remember this season very well. We remember that the famous Fail Mary game between Green Bay and Seattle at the end was one of the most controversial moments that will lived on forever for either fans of both teams. No doubt, it was so damn crazy during the first few weeks with those replacement officials.
Bet the saints know a way more controversial moment
Nothing can cap the emotion of 8 year old ravens fan me watching jacoby jones score a 109 yd kick return td in the super bowl. To this day I believe that 2012 playoff Joe Flacco had the best playoff run in history, from beating the colts to the mile high miracle, he’s my favorite.
2002 to 2012 felt like a fucking lifetime. 2012 to 2022 felt like a blink of an eye. I'm not even that old, but appreciate every second.
I can't believe that infamous plays from this season like the Fail Mary and Butt Fumble are gonna be a decade old later this year!
I think Ray Lewis's retirement announcement just before the playoff was a storyline that helped the Ravens to unite even more.
This was the first season I really really got into football. I started paying attention to stories, stats, and I remember this was the first year of the Nike uniforms
Thank you for this. This was my 1st year watching football. Brings back a lot of memories
damn kto as a chargers fan who really started watching football around 2012 you hurt me with beginning and end of this vid lol 😭
Great video was waiting for this one.
If the Redskins were the "Commanders" in 2012 then that means Jim brown played for the Baltimore Ravens in the 1950s, Warren Moon/Earl Campbell played for the Tennesse Titans, John Madden coached the Las Vegas Raiders and that the Cardinals have been in Arizona since 1898 before it was even a state.
These videos never miss. Thanks for another great one
I love the 10 yr ago vids, keep it up man❤️
love to see you growing boss. almost 150k views in 1 day 🔥
I vividly remember Julio Jones turning into an absolute BEAST in those games vs Seattle and San Francisco. That offense with Ryan and Roddy White was crazy
2001 - 2011
2013 - Current
The Baltimore Ravens combined 19 seasons and only 2 Championships since their 1996 inception.
Time flies so fast man! I was in 8th grade that year and 2012 was one crazy year for free agency!
Giving up a 4th and 29 to a dump off pass is otherworldly
This hits different since 2012 was the first year I watched the NFL!
My first season of remembering football aside from the 08 year- insane
Man that 2012 Falcons team was legit - it was the last time we had an actual great defense for once.
Should’ve been in the SB against the Ravens but had to fucking choke against SF in the NFC Championship at home.
That game versus the broncos I remember vividly. I had to go to bed in the third quarter, but my mom woke me up in the double OT. She brought me to the TV and we watched as Justin Tucker made that field goal to bring us that W. It was so cool, because we all knew that Ray Lewis was probably done after that season and we wanted to see him get another ring.
The ending of all your videos are always bangers
Great video, thanks for taking us back! It would have been cool if you included Ray Lewis's retirement along with the Ravens Super Bowl win. That clip of his last pre-game entrance at home would have been awesome to see
Keep it up love your videos
Really looking forward to next year’s video. 2013 was when I first really got into football so it’s going to bring back some memories
Fun facts in 2012 It was the return of Nike brand being in the NFL since 2000 season (with some other brands like Puma and Adidas after 2001 season. Then Reebok took over NFL jerseys in 2001-2011) surprisingly the Ravens won both SuperBowl the last year for Nike jerseys and the return of Nike Jerseys.
Now we need a 2013 retrospective
As a football fan….this is arguably one of my favorite seasons for so many different reasons.
