That is because it was designed for pc from the ground up unlike today were everything has to be multi-platform to sway the console crowd in buying the game en masse.

Just played through this corridor not long ago and remember reploading the save a couple times from both dying and just because of how much fun the gun fights were! FEARS a GOAT
I just started Extraction Point last night and I recognize this level. I was thinking the same thing when I got to the checkpoint: the gunfights are ridiculously fun in this game! Like you in this vid, I always forget to slow down time and punch/kick enemies.
Actually, none of the AI's are aware the others even exist. There are a few spots where you see firefights between ATC and Replica forces, and it basically comes down to who's shots happen to be aimed in exactly the right spot.
the PS3 version of FEAR has a bonus mission called SFOD-D where you play as the first Delta Force recon team sent into Armacham HQ, you can find it on youtube
I've played all the F.E.A.Rs recently this year and they are good except for fear 3 but the first will always be the best because of its ai. No video game can even compare the complexity F.E.A.R.'s ai showcases and they programmed it with a simple set of codes.
The first one also has the best atmosphere that the sequels couldnt quite nail. I liked the second one alot too but the first one will be the top one in my books forever. Even the sequels for the first one werent quite as good.
@@uniquechannelnames When you play enough you get a good feel for how to properly move around cover, check corners, proper positioning, etc. It's certainly doable.
In addition I also made cross hairs transparent and aimed with bullet tracers. Only used reflex mode in specific areas where you don't have enough cover.
eh perseus mandate was a stronger game until after your partners death. extraction point has this memorable combat sequence but wasn't a fan of its story and direction. both expansion packs really feel cheap in many ways. fear 1 was the peak and end.
@@9ner Extraction Point wasn't cheap at all, remember the last thing you saw was teenage-alma jumping into the chopper, then you wake up in the city overrun by the destruction of the Romelmeyer Complex and from that point it feels like a horror show not knowing how the hell are you going to escape that mess. The only thing that went kinda cheap was the ending wich left no closure at all. Extraction Point won the "expansion of the year" award and paved the way to the sequel, while Perseus Mandate went downhill since Vivendi brute forced a crunch program on its development nothing could prepare us for the console-casual-ish degradation that would be FEAR 2. I think the fact that John Mulky (I belive that has his name) left Monolith during the development of FEAR 2 left the team without the voice of sanity that held together the development of the first game.
I got back to this game every year and every year i just grow more and more of an appreciation for the AI and how they function, even almost 20 years to the day it was released. Im currently playing it again BTW
F.E.A.R., Extraction Point and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin are honestly my favourite FPS/Horror games, not just due to their fusion of Jon Woo action with Ju-On style J-horror, but because the GOAP AI, coupled with the environments firefights take place in and the satisfying weapons (minus F.E.A.R. 2's pump action shotgun, its Auto Shotgun is more what you'd expect from a F.E.A.R. shottie), make for some of the most holiest of combat scenarios in any video game. Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. 3 on the other hand? Former has its moments despite weak writing and largely barren outdoor sections, but the latter wasn't made by Monolith or TimeGate, and it shows between the hyperfocus on co-op action over the action/J-horror fusion of its predecessors and its terrible story. I'd happily play Perseus Mandate over F.E.A.R. 3 any day of the week.
Im replaying them all over again for nostalgia and the achievements i missed and its bring back so many memories i really love this game and the creepy tone it gives hopefully they can do a reboot of the original someday
The F.E.A.R Is a millitary unity who fight agains supernaturals threats,so yeah,it's basicaly the grand father of SCP fondation. But at least the fear have Pointman,he Is an entire army by himself, the SCP soliders are mostly jobbers. The SCP foundation need soldiers like Pointman
If I remember correctly, the devs specifically built this section to showcase the AI. I'm pretty sure the barricades/cover would be procedurally generated every load so the flow of the office would change.
