      @SevenAcid No - A shot on goal is any shot that reaches the goaltender or scores. Shots that are blocked, go wide or high or hit the posts are not counted. It's clearly defined - that's what the stat reflects. There are other, possibly better, ways to measure offensive activity overall, but that's a separate issue.

    • @odoaceroftheneoromanempire7178
      @odoaceroftheneoromanempire7178 17 дней назад

      The vast majority of the shots were perimeter shots because the Oilers always had sticks in lanes and were blocking shots. Skinner played great, but the big forwards like McDavid and Draisaitl and some of the depth D like Desharnais and Kulak were absolutely instrumental in this win too, as they committed themselves to responsible team defense. Desharnais for example would use his size and reach to stifle kings players in the corners and would sacrifice his body on the boards, and McDavid was pickpocketing rushing players and getting his stick in the way of shots. There were only 2 or 3 really good chances the Kings had and Skinner brushed them aside.

    This was what Edmonton hasn't gotten their last few playoff runs - the goalie stealing them some wins. They've had games the goaltender has been decent and they've won the games they should have, they've had games they should have won but the goalie cost them. But this is one they had no business winning, but Skinner shut the door. Best player for either team tonight, by far.

      They are always ten minutes +, no matter how many goals. It is for people who never watched the game and don't know the results. So, they show lots of saves and scoring chances. If all you want is a short highlight package, this isn't for you.

    Despite the shot difference, BOTH teams played airtight, playoff hockey. There was not an inch of ice that was not battled for. I know that many would like more goals, but if they Oilers stay THAT disciplined defensively, and play physical without taking penalties they have a real chance to go very deep this year.....THAT was playoff hockey.
