McDavid calling out the play on that third goal. The man's a hockey genius. Picking out holes in the defense with 3 seconds left on a powerplay, in a playoff elimination game, like it's a leisurely sunday afternoon walk in the park.

@@piggy8761 the counter weight argument against that holds water though. If it was so easy then why wasn't everyone doing it back then? They weren't. Gretzky was just that much better than everyone else that he'd have the Art Ross more or less clinched in Feb 1st each year. I agree though that the players, training, physical regimen, speed and skill set are much higher today. The argument about greatness revolves in my mind more around how much better than everyone else at the current moment the player is. I wouldn't say mcd is better than Gretzky at separating himself from the rest of the NHL but he's close to if not equal to Gretz. He'll just never get those 215 point seasons today, which is to your argument.

@@Neonator08 I get your point but c'mon McDavid, even MacKinnon are clearly more talented than Gretzky, goalies were legit trash back then and these guys are making the rest of the league look like the AHL almost every night in an era where NHL players are ATHLETES, not smoking and drinking between periods. Now in terms of efficiency, impact on the game, winning championships, etc., that's an entirely different conversation and the Great One has that nickname for a reason.

We are moving on baby!! What a game and what a series for the boys! Weathered the early storm for the most part, and when they were down, they took advantage of the Kings handing them power plays and fought back! That was also an incredible defensive effort in the third against a desperate Kings team giving it everything they could muster. It's what allowed the Oilers to close out so many games during the 16 game win streak and it worked again here tonight! Bring on Nashville or bring on Vancouver. Whoever it is, we will be ready for them! LET'S GO OILERS!!!!

All the people whining here about the Oilers getting calls their way are hilarious. Ya they definitely got a lot of favourable calls their way this series, for the first time in FOREVER. I can’t remember the last time I watched a playoff series where it didn’t feel like they were playing against the other team plus the refs. I can name off the top of my head 3 calls against the Oilers that decided games, if not entire series, and none that went their way. So ya, refs were on their side this series, and I don’t feel bad about it at all.
Kings fans, welcome to our world. It’s not so fun being on the other side of it huh? The reason you weren’t whining about this the last two years is because you were the ones getting all the calls, and you still lost those series, so maybe it’s not the reffing?
