It's nice to see someone being fair to the current SpongeBob seasons, sure, it's not the same as the pre-movie seasons but they have quite the wacky charm and the animation quality has improved (to clarify, I'm not saying the original animation sucked, it's also good, I'm just saying they improved). Heck, I don't mind the fact that they're embracing the cartoonish stuff with the expressions and whatnot.
Also, I know people don't like the references to older seasons but I don't mind honestly.
Please don't argue in the comments, it's just an opinion. If you don't like the current SpongeBob and you HAVE seen the episodes, that's fine but please don't be a jerk to those that DO like the current seasons.
Agreed. I'm not even a fan of SBSP anymore (I mean, okay, I do like the nostalgia it has due to the seasons I DID watch), but like...I'm not gonna hate or otherwise argue with people who do like it - old or new episodes.
Just like modern cartoons aren't really my thing, I wouldn't hold it against someone if they are into them! I tried Steven Universe and it was just...Okay to me. No judgement toward those who love it! It's a great concept! It just wasn't my thing.
I also wouldn't hate someone if they didn't like the media I personally enjoy. It's all on personal preference, and it doesn't have to be due to "woke" behavior, "being stuck in the past", etc. It could just be nostalgia or having something to comfort you after rought times. Maybe that content WAS a comfort after a rough time! You never know!

I agree,while I gave up on SpongeBob after Season 12 and the fact Nick has become full of greedy execs who care more about the sponge than other stuff nowadays and constantly trash stuff like Glitch Techs and Phoebe and her Unicorn in favor of more SpongeBob content,the post-Hillenburg era of SpongeBob,while not the same as before,I do praise Seasons 13-14 for still had the usual zany charm and energy and the animation has still improved. I just wish Nick would give SpongeBob an end point someday,especially after the fourth movie(Search for SquarePants) and Nick’s parent company Paramount Global merges with Skydance.

I’m not a SpongeBob fan, but Binary Bottom’s one of my favorite episodes. Frankly, I always imagined “What if Bikini Bottom housed an entire population of robots instead of sea creatures?”. I love SpongeBob episodes that involve robots. I mean, robots are so cool.

Ma and Pa is another great episode you should see. SpongeBob tries to act mature in front of his parents, but they’re as rowdy as he usually is. Eventually he just breaks down and goes wild and the parents just sit there like this is normal
Don’t forget Tango Tangle! The awesome chemistry Karen and Plankton had was fantastic! Plus I love the music
It's nice to see SpongeBob's parents getting a major role again after like 12 years.
I have severe depression and these videos help me get through activities like taking a shower or washing my face

The messed up thing is the writers know that people dont like squidward suffer episodes and they don't care friendavesy is a huge example of this

The thing is season 1 already had a lot of those eps.
Squidward torture episodes tend to be the strongest of the show rn so removing them would kind of be a disaster.

@@Luigisuperx it's literally a cartoon, punching bags have always existed and have always made for good plots and gags.
Plus, they still follow karma formulas, meaning that when Squidward gets hurts he's usually done something wrong previously (hot take but in Ink Lemonade for example he was acting awful at the start)
I fix the bad episode. Squidward gets sick like in the original episode, but after Squidward leaves Krusty Krab loses costumers somehow, so so they want him back. Squidward at first dosent want to go, but Mr Krabs gives 1 dollar more to his paycheck if he comes back early. Then Squidward comes back and saves the day and finally everyone is happy at Squidward.
I think I would've enjoyed that lots more 😄

The ending parts with CHUM reminded me of John Carpenter's The Thing. A KID'S SHOW reminded me of one of the scariest horror movies of all time
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were referencing The Thing given it came out 2 years before the horror movie they were referencing with the title and sewer people plot named C.H.U.D.
I believe it was a reference to the C.H.U.D horror movies. But I totally get the John Carpenter vibes from the animation.

Just so you know, that grandpat segment was from the paramount plus special known as "the tidal zone". It was basically an event all three shows were doing where they all did twilight zone parodies, and i think it is technically listed as the shows' first real crossover. I believe that the episodes you watched were just cut from the full special, and i can only assume they did the same thing for the other shows too.
The recent SpongeBob The Complete Thirteenth Season DVD on disc 2 has "Welcome to Binary Bottom," "You're Going to Pay...Phone," and "A Skin Wrinkle in Time" as separate episodes without the spin-off episodes. But the same DVD on disc 4 has a special feature to watch the full The Tidal Zone: A SpongeBob Universe Special with the spin-off episodes included.

Your answer to the question at the end really resonated with me, I've been working on similarly bettering myself recently to fantastic results.
In the first three spongebob seasons you can see Stephen wanted to both entertain & educate kids about sea life-so there were wacky moments but also more calm educational moments which made spongebob charming
In the latter seasons and ESPICALLY the patrick show they threw away the educational aspect n just made it a wacky loony tones knock off-it comes off as a 2D fanboy & chum chum then spongebob
And that’s why the later seasons are amazing!

Modern SpongeBob in a nutshell: Remember this? Remember that? Yeah, most of us would rather watch that instead of this.
It has been a bit like that, but I think it's the result of modern SpongeBob always being compared to early seasons. It gave the writers the wrong impression and they make episodes like these that don't try to stand on their own. I think as a show progresses generations, it should try to be its own thing instead of trying to be what it's not.

Speaking of anchovies, I think that the reason why a pizza is used to reverse the transformation of everyone is because those fish are sometimes used as a pizza topping. Granted, they aren't the most popular pizza topping out there because of how salty they are, but I can kinda sorta see what they were going for

The CHUM episode is a parody of the horror movies called C.H.U.D (cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers) so it makes alot of sense actually. Even if it is grotesque lol nice to see some of the story writers/ animators are horror movie fans.

I love how they went out of their way and brought back a game original character, Pron, for this episode. He’s the blue small guy and he’s originally from Battle For Bikini Bottom. I’m shocked you didn’t mention it.
Like a main series using spin-off material’s stuff is really rare.
I'm really glad that when covering these episodes, you're being really fair towards them, and acknowledging the fact that not all modern Spongebob episodes are the spawns the devil's toilet, and some of them are actually quite good!
12:26 The Kelpbed Kids is actually meant to be a parody of the Our Gang/Little Rascals shorts. The Sea-Man Sponge Haters Club is also a reference to The Little Rascals. I'm a big fan of the original Little Rascals so I think it's really cool to see it being referenced and parodied in my favourite cartoon, SpongeBob.

Honestly, your videos really are like a safe space. Even if you are worked up about something, you really don't show any hint of anger at those who may like it (such as Peppa Pig), vs the show or content itself.

Strider, I'm glad your review SpongeBob again because I really want to know your opinions on recent SpongeBob. Also, I do agree some episode you mentions in this video, but also disagree a few episode. But its a real shame you didn't mention some episode from Season 13 and 14, but maybe some point in time you make a follow up video on SpongeBob. Also, as a SpongeBob fan, I really like Season 14, is one of my favorite Modern SpongeBob Season and I hope the writers of SpongeBob do their best.
Howdy Strider! I personally want to watch the Plankton And The Beanstalk and Goofy Scoopers episodes the most, the first because I love fairy tales, and the second because I have a HUGE interest in Chuck E Cheese history. Back in the 70s and 80s, Chuck actually had more personality, he was sarcastic and rude, and was basically like Oscar The Grouch [Sesame Street], and there was a ton of fun guest stars, some of whom actually roasted Chuck right back, such as Harmony Howlette, a cowgirl coyote who has similar vibes to Sandy. I think a video talking about the retired Chuck E Cheese characters from the 70s and 80s would be super cool, although I'm also partial to a video talking about the works of Will Vinton [California Raisins, Claymation Christmas, Closed Mondays, etc...]!

One fantastic episode you missed was Salty Sponge. It’s such a great call back to No Weenies Allowed with Salty Spitoon. SpongeBob is super charming in the episode, the sound track is kickass and both the visual and dialogue jokes are hilarious. Favourite episode of Season 13

Sandy inventing an anthropomorphism beam to make inanimate objects sentient is literally on the level of Rick and Morty science, like when he brought a churro to life to pal around with Morty. All we needed was for one of the things she brought to life to scream at her "MARK MY WORDS SANDY CHEEKS! I SHALL LEAVE YOU AS YOU LEFT ME, ALONE IN A WASTELAND PRAYING FOR DEATH!"
I guess Squidward's Sick Daze got the Fairly Odder treatment and was removed for being so bad.

Personally, I would've had "You're Going to Pay...Phone" ranked seperately from "A Skin Wrinkle in Time". Like you said, the first one is the more enjoyable sketch, watching Krabs pay for his constant greed by being hypnotised into giving patties and money away for free. Personally, my favorite part was when under the influence of the hypnosis, Krabs gives Plankton the deed to the Krusty Krab. Just like that, Plankton no longer has to steal the Krabby Patty Formula, because the formula now belongs to him. I just wish it was a longer sketch and not slapped next to that "Skin Wrinkle in Time", so I could get to see more of Plankton as the owner of the Krusty Krab, besides "The Algae's Always Greener" (Good classic episode, obviously, but still).
I personally think “You’re Going to Pay…Phone” is just not as good as you think it is when I tell you that IT’S A FRICKING RESKIN OF BORN AGAIN KRABS, A MUCH BETTER EPISODE!!”

The art style of the "Chum People" episode reminds me a lot of an old MTV animated series called "The Brothers Grunt." I don't know if there's any connection between the two, but I swear it looks like it could've been drawn by the same person.
Points for being cultured knowing Song of Saya but… that may backfire
I feel like we've entered that weird era of SpongeBob where reception to the recent episodes are more mixed than ever. Like there's a lot of good ideas (The Goobfather one is such a funny concept that I honestly wanna see that episode). At the same time though, there are other episodes that rank "meh" or really baffiling. I don't mind the past paced nature, but a couple of episodes are basically random events stitched together with no coherent story. There's also the more wacky expressions which while not "Face Freeze" bad...well, feel like they fit less in a SpongeBob episode and more like they belong in one of those Cursed Pictures you'd find on the Web. Don't even get me started on the unnecessary new recurring characters like Narlene (the worst character to ever be in this franchise, at least in my opinion.)
I still love this cartoon, and I'm glad its doing well (much better than Tue season 6-8 era). At the same time though, I feel like we can all agree that eventually, we need to finally let it rest before it goes stale again.

the Narlene episode annoyed me because we never got a flashback about the origins of the Plankton & Narlene families feud if I rewrote the episode I would have devoted a major part of that episode to the feud's start.
