Just went back to watch your kayak review video from several years ago. I know you hate those type of videos but the info was priceless. Would be great to hear an updated version!
Man the fact you didn't use that first fish coming out of the water as a clickbaity thumbnail blows my mind, glad I always watch your vids cause that was one of the most amazing moments I've ever seen on a fishing channel
YES, back in the North Country! This is exactly what I've been waiting for! Thanks for the post, I've been missing this type of fishing! Look forward to the next session, tight lines!
I am amazed from video to video and the fishing context changes, how you successfully use jigging to consistently catch quality fish. I feel like I learn a lot watching you!
You ever fish Oneida lake for walleye?
i have .
im from upstate NY so I love these series every year!
Looks like a perfect day to me. A quiet lake with big fish & no boat traffic.😎
Lamprey Catch and Cook?
I'm from Europe (Germany) and in several countries over here people eat them. The consistency and taste of the meat is said to be more like beef than fish.
Never ever had a Lake Trout (Char) come up and grab a jig like that! Enjoyed the video. Nice change up.
Moving to the finger lakes with my wife and family this summer. I absolutely cannot wait to fish these lakes
Depending on what you’re fishing for the Finger Lakes have just about everything freshwater you could want. I landed a 7lbs largemouth on the north end of Cayuga a few weeks ago, I’ve caught Smallies over 5lbs there too. I’ve caught some good sized channel catfish out of there as well. Otisco Lake is good for Bass, Crappie, Tiger Muskies and Walleye. I haven’t fished the other Finger Lakes that much but all of them are excellent depending on what species you are targeting. You’re gonna have a blast.
Nice thing about fresh water is you don't have to worry about getting sharked.
What nice lake trout! I’ve never fished for them, but it’s certainly on my bucket list, you earned a sub buddy! Tight lines
spent a week on canandaigua a couple of years ago. Its beautiful up there but that water was still cold in june
I fished lake Seneca probably when I was thinking about 10th grade, and I am 54 now so that should tell you how long ago it was. I didn't fish from a boat though all I caught was panfish, just regular sized ones. But I guess hey a fish is a fish sometimes! I might have another comment for you after this because I didn't watch the whole video yet, but you take care, and God bless!
Man that first lake trout bite was epic! Can't get much more exciting than that. Would love to give lake trout try.
Elias V the 🐐
Couple hours from where I live. Been to Seneca lake quite a few times. Nice fish too.
Elias.... You couldnt have ask for a better day... Well done, as usual.... Thanks
Got me homesick. The Finger Lakes are amazing.
one of the most beautiful areas in NYS
I love your trout fishing videos bro. I'd say jigging them beats trolling them any day. I've trolled them, I'd definitely prefer to jig.
Enjoyed your freshwater video today. It surprises me to see what you've pulled out of deep water. Keep up the variety
A real fishing pro. Makes it look so easy.
Very cool fishing for Lakers on your annual trip. Grew up on the Great Lakes in Michigan and caught them up to 30 pounds back in the day
Also inland striper fishing is not as easy from a kayak. Boat traffic and rough conditions make it hard. Add to that, schools generally move long distances and hard to keep up with them. I caught the same hybrid striper on one day more then a mile from where I caught it two hours earlier.
Elias, I think you could put a piece of old tire on a hook and catch fish. Your presentation is perfect.
👍
They're fun; buddy and I did a charter Sunday on Huron and trolled up 6. The only thing we hooked that leapt like that was a steelhead, which proceeded to break off.
I asked the captain about jigging lakers on Huron (I'd love to try my slow pitch stuff) but they said something about needing to steam out to really deep holes for that sort of thing.
When I saw that first laker coming my mind thought pike, then it was holy crap. Those lampreys can get big, they've been in the Hudson River since over 60 years ago.
Awesome 👍, I always have a great time with the fresh. It proves to me that fish can be caught anywhere! Thanks so much!
i replayed that first bite like 10 times SICK
love the Laker videos!! reminds me of back home in the Adirondacks!
Back to fresh water, and not a moment too soon. Looking forward to the Salmon excursion, and maybe a catch & cook. Any chance of Smallmouth over deep gravel or drop-offs?
There’s some but they are hard to catch for tourists.
omg elias that laker was insane right off the rip!
That first catch was so badass
That was an awesome fish! What an epic chase and bite at the surface! Good catch! Looks like you need a bigger net!
Gonna be up there in a few weeks! You got more trout in this one day then my whole week up there last year... Definitely hope to get my game up to your level someday. Can't wait for the next vid!!!
That was really cool that first one almost jumped in the boat
I've been reading that they are native to the finger lakes, but are scary none the less. They've latched onto swimmers in Champlain.
That's beautiful water and fish.
That was the most epic trout eat I’ve ever seen!!
What a way to start a video with a Lake Trout busting water! Wow! I thoroughly enjoy the vid's you post when you go to your parents. Fun fishing and a fantastic change of pace. Good stuff man!
Love the trout! Great video Elias.
Wow amazing first catch Elias sick....
I'm uk lamprey are rare ,, they make fantastic baits over here!
Always enjoy watching your videos, awesome job
Awesome brother I was just amazed at how big that first one was
Love the NY trout fishing and the saltwater fishing! Funny that I lived near the lake you are fishing in for years and now I live down South where you also fish from! Keep up the good work. You make it look too easy!
Love ur videos bro. Thx u for sharing. Ur skill set is sick. Ur always on them.
Nice Trout Elias!
I wonder if the wild fish get along with the stocked fish or if there are like two gangs that keep to their own. lol nice vid something I've wanted to do for a long time.
Just got through watching this video funny to actually see someone fishing where I used to fish I grew up in Elmira which is not that far from Watkins Glen
Thanks for posting your videos. None others even come close. Even the high-dollar pros pale in comparison!
I know basically zero about jigging and know quite a bit more now.
great day. say hi to the folks for us. keep it going.
Awesome fishing bro! I love that big lake trout fishing. I'd love to do that with you sometime.
Good video E.V. Still crushing it with the Mackinaw Shads. Now that I’ve seen that lamprey I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have nightmares 😱
Elias, show us some of those Big Lakers,Brown Trout, Salmon,Etc. "crush Them" God Bless
What a way to start that video!! That was awesome E!! Now I will go back and watch the rest 😂
Agree 100%-Single hooks are the way to go
Another cool video always enjoy the content never disappointed. Have a good day and stay safe Jimmy from North Attleboro Massachusetts
Bro that was crazy! Laker wanted it.
That first strike was awesome
Always enjoy your content Brother 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hell of a day I'm definitely planning a trip up there.
Wow, they were some lovely fish, well done you.
Ny misses u 💙 still killin it out there tho keep it up
Here in Finland lampreys are considered a delicacy. They really taste good if you know how to prepare.
this content is for every fisherman. Really
That was an amazing bite from that first lake trout!
Man as a kid I was so fascinated with lampreys
Love the finger lake videos. Awesome work Elias!
Elias, you got any tips on trying to catch fish you see on your Fish Finder that won’t bite no matter what you throw?
Just what fin are they clipping? Most adipose fins are clipped at hatcheries. You mentioned "clipped" fish near the end but can't quite see how you identified it as such. Appreciate it
Pectoral fin and anal fin what I’ve seen.
he couldnt have showed it any clearer
Yeah...had to watch that again, interesting..adipose here in the PNW.
Great vid! Is that where you had you netting fiasco with the salmon years back? Every time I see you in deep fresh water, I think of that video...LOL
Always great content man. Don’t care where u fish I’m a big fan. Let’s us know how you cooked the trout and was it any good.
Awesome video you are fishing. Couple miles from my house jigging Lakers is my favorite thing to do that is the first lamprey I have seen in a while we find a few scars on fish once in a while there was a time when we couldn't hardly catch a fish without a lamprey on it
Lamprey is pretty common in the Great Lakes...
El Duce of fishing content.
Making it look easy, as always!
Awesome video. I'm fishing one lake over from you. I have a great fish finder and I can watch them chase my lure down, chase it up, and come off the bottom and chase it up but I can only get one out of about every 50 to hit. I literally have a fish chase every other cast. I'm going to have to watch your technique I guess because I have tons of fish but not hits.
Best lake trout fishing is usually at 110 feet unless it's early season when they come in shallower. So this must be spring time.
Awesome video. Love the variety of fishing you have been doing. Thanks for all you do. Be safe and keep it coming.
gotta give the people what they want! lol, awesome video, love watching the chase jigging in action, nice sized fish on this day too!
That first eat was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen
Man enjoy the awesome wine the have over there. We were recently and got a snakehead. Disgusting invasive species!
Siiiiiiick eat on that trout 👊💪🏼
that first eat was crazy. i thought that was a big pike.
Beautiful fish, that's the NY people know nothing about. I lived most my in upstate NY but never had lakers in my lakes. I love some some walleye and pike but once I moved to SW Fl it's salt only for me. Great job fishing and those lamprey are TRUELY monsters, like an X File.
you must mean N.Y.C people bud. because plenty of us catch lakers all the time.
I remember that episode.
Nice catch son good luck good fishing 👍👏🎣🎣🎣🎣
Love these vids
@1:30 very cool!
Great video as always, enjoy your trip. I actually speared a lamprey once years ago in California in the American River near Sacramento, about 3 feet long, ugly thing.
That fish was like, "I ain't going in there!"
Isn’t that a native lamprey? I don’t know how to tell the difference. I wasn’t aware of the sea lamprey establishing itself outside of the Great Lakes. I could be wrong. I don’t have a lot of love for lampreys anyway.
Tarpon trout was sick indeed 🤘
Very nice lake trout
Always like the FF shots
That was sick bro lol insane.
when you're passing though back down south...lets go grab some sushi.
That first fish was nuts. I'm no laker expert, but as you where reeling up fast i had a feeling you'd get hit.
Nicely Done ~ These are some of my favorite clips - Hope you get on some Fat Browns . . . Stay Safe.
Keep putting in the work. Great to watch.
that laker jumping out of the water was so insane it looked fake
