Final NY video. Peanut shads available from Amazon or my website at www.EliasVFishing.com - a seriously underrated fishery and I hope I’ll get to tangle with the monster lakers of Lake Michigan in my lifetime!
My dad just pulled a 16# laker out of lake Huron a few weeks ago. He's out there every weekend so if you get out that way drop me a line and he might be able to point you in the right direction. May and June are the best times.
Your videos are awesome first time with a comment usually no one answers back but love the channel from Jacksonville Florida me and my grandson watch your videos all the time can't wait to see your next video
I leave tomorrow to go get on some stripers with those plastics I got from you I'm so stoked these plastics have such a great squish factor and pretty durable
What a great fish. What a great video. In August I'm going up to a lake in Vermont that I have fished for over 40 years. The lake has changed alot over the years with different species coming and going. I've never caught a lake trout but I know they are in there. I'm going to try some of your stuff and try to jig them up. Your not supposed to catch them in the summer but you catch them anyway.
Get to Manitoba Ca. if you can. Late August jigging is some of the best fishing ive ever had. Thirty Inch fish will break your arms all day. Not to mention huge pike.
That was great Elias! What would you suggest as the minimum depth for lakers in summer, in mid-northern New York? You mentioned alewives, there's also smelt in northern lakes...a skinny baitfish. I wonder if those Keitechs mimic them... Tight lines! Frank
Thanx for the quick reply! Sounds good. I figured it was somewhere below 50'. The reason I say that is that I used to SCUBA dive in a couple deep Adirondack lakes in mid summer. The thermocline, where the water temp drops in a short depth change, would go from the mid 60s to just over 50 degrees.. I'm a nerd... I had a dive thermometer. That would occur right around 50'. The two temps mixing at that depth look like alcohol and water mixing. Below that it becomes clear again, but a little darker. That 50'-thermocline-turbidity reduces sunlight penetration.
Elias when the bite died down I heard you say that the wind also died,, so i just wanted to say how amazing it is that even though the fish are 65-80 feet down they can still respond/react are influenced by the surface and here is a question for ya , what kind of sunglasses are they?
Just a regular pair of polarized. I picked up a pair of polarized Costas also. Helps relaxes your eyes when constantly staring at the reflection on the surface.
Great vid. Still questioning why you made the wilmy move. I've lived years in both places. From the yak, up north all day. Need a boat in wilmy to get at better fish.
Def enjoying the longer season, the variety of fish in NC, and about 5% of the fishing pressure the northeast has. Also the fishing culture is much more mellow. Have had zero confrontation on the water. Both are different and have their pluses and minuses, but as someone that does it full time I am very happy with the new environment so far.
EliasVFishing Respect that. Definitely a different scene. Glad you'll still be going back North. I'm overdue for a good laker bite. Plans on getting a boat down here. A skiff or flats bottom changes the game.
No red drum up north either. Drum put stripers to shame in pretty much every category as a sport fish. Make a trip to the Neuse and get them on popping corks next month. Usually good until a week or so after labor day but mid Aug is prime. Ill be making a run soon if interested. Topwater schoolie stripers mid day big drum sun up and sun set.
You site says all items in stock but then some items say out if stock. What's the truth? Also, n-ice lakers!! (Also no rinse down after a day on the lake 😁)
For striper? It really depends on the environment you are in. As a kayak angler I resort to plastics 90% of the time due to the practicality of fishing them anywhere in the water column and in any current. Cast or fished vertically. I'd say 5"-10" plastics the range you want. A lot of the techniques I use in my videos work just as well at night, and yes the fishing is ten times better at night than during the day for striper.

Nice to see you pointing out what your electronics are showing. I think that is going to be helpful to a lot of guys getting into the sport.
I find it very cool to see the lakers chasing like that on the screen.
Makes a long night shift go by easier with this notifcation. 👍 Great vid elias like always.
Another great video you're living the dream.

Just answered lol - thanks. I typically respond first day or two on a video.
Thanks for your response like I said before your videos are awesome originally from NEWARK new jersey
Your great learn a lot from your channel 👍👍👍👍
nothing wrong with keeping a laker!! i would have kept it too man. Nice job on the water.

If you could only fish one lake either Cayuga or Seneca ...what would it be and why?
Wow! I noticed the big one was missing his right pectoral fin but that fight was crazy.
Looks like you went after those lakers again! Nice 👍🏼
Elias, you come back in Brooklyn?

Find them on your electronics and from there it’ll be about getting them to bite.
very good video, thanks
I had the same issue with my Stradic making the rough noises so I had it serviced. It turned out to be the line roller.
Same issue here
Loved the video very nice lets see some more maybe some bass please
Damn, that looks like fun.

60-90 feet seems like a good bet imo.

The dying bite could be more from a change in barometric pressure coming from a weather system where the wind dies as well.
Frank
Going to Lake Placid in August any suggestions want to try to catch some of those
Same thing I’m doing should work- locate in 70-90 feet my guess and start working it
Have you ever caught splake trout in those big lakes? Splake trout is a brook-lake hybrid.
Nah, I know NYS stocks splake in a few places but I’ve never caught one
Nice video!
How long a leader??
Any video he puts up and those two magical letters PB are in the title you 100% want to check it out

About time for the tarpon to show up on the neuse and pamlico?
Did your guest ever land a fish?
Yep!
That dive for the bottom though
Why did you not bleed the injured fish you decided to harvest?
Bled itself

Hell bent for leather!
EliasVFishing there's many who tried
to prove they were faster
but they didn't last
and they died as they tried
That Stradic sounds so rough 😂
Line roller bearing shot 🤗
Joe, where do you order them from? Was on Shimano's site out of stock for a while. Cheap enough but not available right now.
That monster trout was missing a fin. interesting
Stocked fish get their fin clipped wild don’t. It’s a mix of wild and stocked fish in there.
Lube that poor reel haha
