  • The second tower of the YCRA Outing to Reading.
The Minster Church of St Mary the Virgin, Reading hangs a fine, growly and old fashioned ring of eight bells cast by a range of founders. These founders include Robert Catlin, George Mears and Ellis Knight. The bells gel really nicely as an eight and the tenor has that major third tierce. I thought these bells sounded a lot like St Botolph's, Aldgate mainly because of the sound. The bells ring really easily and are a piece of cake to get good ringing on. We now see the young ringers attempting a plain course of Grandsire Triples, enjoy!

Tell the kid on the 5th he desperately needs a box. While it looks like he is getting his bell in the right place each row, he is right on the end of the tail and sally and it is lifting him up each time which is totally unnecessary.

Sorry guys, firstly you gotta be able to competently ring rounds without crashing bells. Then you move on to call changes and change ringing. Someone should have called ‘rounds’ shortly after starting.

I'm sorry mate but I have to disagree with you, this was a band of young ringers and as a good percentage of them have probably never rung together before (let alone on a difficult eight like this) I think you are being a little bit unfair!. yes I agree that there shouldn't be a load of crashing but equally I'm all for giving everyone a chance (regardless of weather it sounds good or not), if you want to hear these fine bells being rung well there are plenty of other videos on here but this is the only one of them being rung by under 30s which is wonderful to see.
