- The fifth and final tower of the YCRA outing to Bristol.
St Mary, Redcliffe in Bristol have a superb and glorious ring of twelve bells, with the tenor weighing at 50cwt. They are the best sounding ring of bells in the key of B. The bells were cast in 1903, 1951, 1969 and with the 8th recast in 2012 by Taylors. The 10th was cast in 1763 by Thomas I Bilbie and the eleventh in 1622 by Roger I Purdue. The bells blend together beautifully, and form the magnificent peal of twelve they have today.
The bells go extremely well, with barely any pulling required, they are easy and very nice to ring and are worth ringing well as they are very unforgiving. That said, the acoustics are excellent in the ringing chamber, with the back bells not drowning out the front bells, they are a very audible ring of twelve!
Here is a touch of Stedman Cinques conducted by Simon Linford. Enjoy! - Кино
aww they replaced the big stone box for the 11th!!
Great ringing and a truly special Taylor 12! These along with Bow are the 2 best rings in a church in my opinion
I love the little model bell!
Haha, yes it was good to look at!
I wonder if I can come to the ringing chamber of St. Mary Redcliffe and ring the model. It’s just so.. TEMPTING
The box on the 11th. was originally solid wood, shame they have replaced it
Best ring in bristol
Without a shadow of a doubt! They are really good in the flesh!
The bell weighs 50.2 long cwt (56.3 short cwt)
Very debatable saying the best in B. Worcester are excellent as well, really intriguing debate
I’ve rung at both. But I think Redcliffe have the edge.
@@RingerThomaswhat bell did you ring when you rung I would love to ring the 11th or the 12
do they ring that model bell
Is that Kiwibellringer on the 11th?
No, that's William Regan.
@@RingerThomasthe 11th and the tenor are brilliant sounding a proper dong to them aside from the tenor bell going up backclappered then otherwise is brilliant
Why didn’t you ring
I did, this was just a touch of Stedman Cinques which I cannot ring just yet!
@@RingerThomas Fair enough keep learning my friend!!!!!
