I think rounds and call changes, possibly plain hunt was probably a safer option for the band. It was clear that there were big striking problems from the rounds alone, let alone in method. When visiting towers, always ring one thing below the capabilities of the weakest member of your band in order to get reasonable striking
It’s not like this was meant to be super prestigious ringing. Although the striking wasn’t incredible we knew the method well enough to ring it! This was also an opportunity for us to practice it where you may get hiccups every now and then.
With all due respect I do think you are perhaps a bit to harsh on them, the striking though not perfect was not terrible and everyone hopefully will improve in time. We all wish we could ring like the Birmingham band including me.
How do you mean? We were all in a good and jokey mood but we have to concentrate a lot of the time when ringing so we probably looked serious because of that
As ringers, we have a duty of performing good ringing, and at the end of the day, it is a public performance. If we didn’t concentrate and just thought it was a load of fun, then no good ringing would have been produced and therefore it would have been a wasted day.
It has to be serious because silliness could be dangerous I was taught. Them ropes can be dangerous for those who forget they're attached to tons of cast iron. 😊😊
Well done 🎉
Thank you!
