The bells were cast in 1928 by Gillett & Johnston of Croydon, and, tonally, live up to all expectations; boomy and powerful! However, the relatively small and very wobbly tower, combined with a limited amount of ringing, makes for a challenging ring of bells; well worth the effort for the noise! I think the best place to hear the bells is on the stairs, where the hums really stand out
The current bells replace an older ring of eight, cast by Thomas Mears in 1791 (although the rebuilt church was not consecrated until the following year!), and replaced an earlier ring of six. The recasting in 1928 appears to have been carried out without Diocesan approval, resulting in the Vicar and churchwardens attending a Consistory Court hearing! Fortunately, a retrospective faculty was granted; imagine trying that today!

Surely one of the nicest sounding peals anywhere and a lovely Wren church.
Used to ring here in the 60s for weddings.
Gillett bells sound so nice.

Tonally, they truly are top. I love these bells so much, although ringing them consistently well is tough, but they are so worth it!
