It’s funny how often he is criticised for being arrogant but if you actually listen to him speak, he is very self aware, criticises himself when necessary and holds great admiration for other cricketers.
I swear to God, it's the accent. At the end, he talks about how badly he was struggling then, a month later, he scored 220 in Adelaide. If Flintoff tells that story, it sounds all homely because of his Lancastrian accent. Pietersen tells it in his faded Durban accent, it sounds like a humblebrag. F the haters though, the man's a genius with a piece of willow in his hand.

One of the very few English batsmen who conquered rank turners of India and not even a single question on spin. What a drag! Almost a decade in we still remember his 186 at Mumbai. Still hurts but man that was some innings!
Same here the 'head to ball' completely changed my game. I am short and really skinny but can still manage to score heaps of runs. Unfortunately I am in India so cant really play competitive cricket at this stage but i love my game
My favorite moment where KP involved was not a moment he shined though. It was in a test match where Malinga set him up and then bounced him out with a beauty. When that happened, I was like... ddaaaaaaammnnn. KP to me is the best English player and best against spin. He hit Murali for six with a reverse sweep when Murali was on his peak.
That innings Kevin Pietersen played in ashes 2005 when he made 158 was one the greatest innings ever against legendary bowling attack of Australia brett Lee Shane Warne jason gillespie Glen McGrath Kevin Pietersen was 1 man army he single handedly destroyed that bowling attack 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He is completely right about the head position being the most important. You look at all the great players and they have great head position but they don't necessarily all have amazing footwork. It's about balance at the crease and getting into the right position at the point of contact.
ECB completely destroyed the talent of Kevin Pieterson. the kind of batsman he was, he used to put fear in the bowler even before he faced the first ball because as a bowler you always know that KP is not gonna hang around even a slight mistake and the ball is out of the park. had ECB handled KP better he would have easily become one of the best batsmen in the world.
I saw this guy playing for Sydney University 1st Grade team hitting incredible shots. He'd basically tell the bowler where he was going to hit the next ball, and usually it'd go exactly where he said. That was 2 - 3 seasons before he ever played England. I knew then he would definitely play for England, it was just a case of how disciplined he was would decide the career he'd have.
Playing cricket with my friends last year was such a memory, I moved states, and now I am not able to play cricket with them, I used to dominate batting along my other friend, who was the best in the neighborhood.
I’ve been an avid 🏴 🏏 fan since the summer of 1985 inclusive (nice place to start!). Only three batsmen achieved greatness during that time imho: Gooch (by dint of what happened after he assumed the captaincy), Alastair Cook and KP and of those only KP looked like a great from his very first Test. Never mind Blighty, only a handful of batsmen anywhere in the world have been able to instil fear in opposition bowlers like this guy. Mesmerising when in full flow.
Just love KP and how great a teacher he is in making things so simple... I have applied KPs principles in the nets and I was a ten times better batsman

Love from India. Although you had beautiful bat lift with aggressive cricket strokes but you needed to work on quality spinners esp picking up dusra I saw you struggle against Syed Ajmal, Ashwin and Herath. Except that you were good stroke player batsman and I enjoyed watching you bat.
Awesome batsman. "Head to the ball" is a great thought to have as the bowler comes in to deliver. Here's an observation though - his foot doesn't get to the pitch of the ball because..... as he takes his stance he grounds his bat then looks up and lifts his bat simultaneously to face the bowler. If instead, he kept his bat grounded, then looked up to face the bowler and only then lifted his bat to complete his address position, he would find that his front foot would move automatically to the pitch of the ball as he executed his shot using his "head to the ball" simplifying technique. Would it be possible to ask him - superstar legend that he is - to try this and see if it works for him?

Getting ur head in line with the ball is done only half way through the ball, once u pick the line n length and decide wt shot to play, ur body bcoz of practicing all those shots automaticly moves into good position to play ur choosen shot Like say ball is outside off back of length, u start by getting in line with ur head then realize ball is outside off and u cant reach on the front foot, thus u rock back then make room to play cut shot or get close and play back foot punch For all the shots the initial getting ur head to ball remains same
On his day he could take apart any attack with ease and win or save a game basically on his own. He was an idiot, but sometimes you've got to find a way as a team to fit these guys in and let them do their thing. The 2013/14 Ashes were not his fault and he unfairly shouldered the blame. England could have got a few more years and probably a couple more thousand test runs out of him. England and English fans were poorer for it.
