He unironically looks like he could (and should) walk into the Windies Test Team…he’d probably still be their best Batsman.
No he's not
Yeah definitely
No not definitely
@@AAAIS111AAA Are you drunk or what look at Lara's states his the king of cricket for West Indies
@@AAAIS111AAA He is the big bison and would these young bucks how the big dog plays
54 and facing 140 in that kit showing that class..it says it all. Absolute superstar.
Absolute legend, but looked like about 110 to be honest...
@@Jackcarr87 your right it definitely wasn’t anywhere close to 140!
140 on a bowling machine is closer to 120 in real life. Still very impressive though
@@jenconvertibles na it’s the other way around 120 on a bowling machine will seem a lot quicker as it’s not natural and the ball just fires out which plays with trigger movements.
@@dc7502 In my experience that isn't true, I have faced the bowling machine set to 150 and I found it very similar to actual people I have faced that usually clock at about 130. It's actually way more predictable to play a bowling machine than a real bowler, and trigger movements usually wouldn't suffer since normally you would raise the ball up before you put it in so the batsman has the opportunity to use a trigger movement. Bowling machines also use softer balls that bounce less and have a flatter trajectory.
incredible even after retiring, the way he picks length so quick is just pure talent
Combined with years of hard work
Just pure magic! Fk i miss him
He's a Rolls Royce, unbelievable at 54 years of age!
100%
Best batsman to play the game. Hands down.
I had the pleasure of growing up watching Lara bat. The high back lift, the elegance, the discipline - what a joy to watch. Truly one in a lifetime West Indian batting talent.
As an Indian, I still believe he's the best batsman ever. At his Peak, he was something else.. Tendulkar doesn't come close, neither does ponting
@@IITianProudIndianbetter than Bradman? 🤔
Truly one in a lifetime world batsman and the greatest of all time
@@newmanerak4151 True! Watching him bat was pure joy!. That beautiful backlift and the shuffle!
@@sportscentral8341 that's the impossible call....... Not that many around who can properly compare Bradman with anyone recently. Lara really was something in his time though.
54 ? No way. Pure class. He could still walk into any test side.
Great to see kids realize the legend in front of them
Yeh they had the best seat most of us could only dream of having
I like brian's commentary, i feel you could talk cricket with brian all day, he just has a great way of articulating his message to the audience
Sachin Tendulkar had Sehwag, Dravid, Azharuddin, Laxman, Ganguly.
But Brian Lara from 1995-2007 only had Chanderpaul and others were Rubbish. Brian Lara was One Man Army. Best Batsman in last 30 Years BRIAN CHARLES LARA
What about Sherwin Campbell?
carl hooper , desmond haynes , richie riachardson , jimmy adams , ramnaresh sarwan , chanderpaul , chris gayle with courtney walsh , curtley ambrose , ian bishop to restrict opposition batting lineup. Dont call them rubbish
Nowadays kids 😂😂😂😂
What about bowlers Brian had (less than AVG of 25.)
Ambrose ,Walsh , Bishop etc.
Wonderful and great browlers.
Viv Richards ,once said facing great fast bowlers in the nets ,made it easy for him in a real match.
average lockdown kid
Brian Lara has the honour of creating the greatest sound off a cricket bat I ever heard. Timing impecable, determination herculean. tactically exceptional .No doubt in my mind the greatest I ever watched. He doesn't need a thick willow log as a cricket bat to spank the ball out of the park..
That iconic back lift and flair, classic Lara. Thank you Brian for the memories of watching you as a child in the Caribbean.
Obviously he still has it. Who else saw him in the bushfire charity match? An absolute beast he was 30 off 11 not out. At age 50!!!!
5:05 - the ICONIC Lara cover drive with that massive backlift - winding back the clock! Class and sheer talent is permanent.
To me, Lara is the best middle-order Test batsman of his era. Lara scored 500+ runs in a single Test series in South Africa, in England, in Sri Lanka, and twice at home against Australia with McGrath in the attack (and he mostly did this in Test series where just 4 Tests or less were played). Meaning, at least once he dominated an entire Test series under practically all different bowling conditions (bouncy conditions of South Africa to swinging conditions of England to turning conditions of the Indian subcontinent). Truly amazing accomplishment.
Love how Lara rose to challenges in his career. In the first half of his career, McGrath got him several times, but in the last 18 innings when they played each other, McGrath got him just once (and that after Lara scored 226).
100% - privileged to watch Lara, Ponting and Sachin growing up. In truth, Lara was the best to watch, and in my humble opinion, the best of the three.
@@burkeyworkeysachin was not on the level of ponting and Lara.. TBH.. never performed in big matches..
@@AdamSylis-nh5oo
Way to show ignorance 😅😅
Never performed. Huh.
Tendulkar averages 55 in odi finals and world cups.
What are averages of this so called great in world cups and finals??
Your a hater, how's Bradman the best? @@parthsavyasachi9348
Number 3 and 4 isn’t middle order
Brian Lara vs South Africa in the 2003 world cup , an innings i will never forget. Legend
One of the very best, after how the openers and others struggled. The 1996 WC was a masterclass as well.
What a pleasure it is for those people there to see an absolute legend of the game. Even after retiring, still has the hands and talent. Absolute class
I got to meet him today, such a legend on and off the field
5:16 Alyssa Healy didn’t even flinch and look at Vaughan 😅
Keeper perks
And it was coming directly at her - she was just standing slightly further back, and not at all surprised by it.
I noticed that, they even showed it slow motion replay LOL
Even at this age he is so stylish! What a player!
At 54, he faced all pace bowler of Aus beautifully, genius.. I love everything from FOX CRICKET 🏏 ❤,Always get the best to watch,Warnie's Fox
Simply the best...form comes and form goes but class remain. The inherent qualities of a class batsmen like the Prince cannot be shared or given to others. You eighter have it or you don't. This trophy of the highest honor is theirs for life. ❤❤❤❤
The current bowlers of all teams are only at 135-140 kms speed . He has faced bowlers over 155km in his career and this is a cake walk for him even at his age .
Lara still looks so good with the willow in his hands. I'm an Aussie and at different times I have thought Sachin was the best, and Ponting at other times. But now I start to feel it's Lara. As Glenn McGrath recently said, Lara was the hardest of them to bowl to because he never went into his shell, he was always ready to counter attack. I think in the really big moments, when pressure was on, Lara was the best of the three. And I also think he was the most elegant and enjoyable to watch. The other 2 may have better stats in some areas, but with Lara it's the conditions under which he played, his team, and how on his days of brilliance he was another level of untouchable. The other two are still very fine players and all time greats
Definitely the best for me; the others had more support from their colleagues
Agree
@jackmacfakie1387 yeah I agree. I want to say Sachin and Ponting were also match winners, and I believe that is what makes them better than some other players who may have better averages or more runs or higher strike rates. Ponting, Sachin, Lara did stand out from their statistical peers because they did not bat for their averages, they looked at match situations and came up with plans and executed them with brilliance. They had an X factor. But Lara was probably the best, he had peaks and troughs but his peaks were just so high. The highest. Sachin had long troughs where other players may have been dropped, and then long peaks where he was untouchable. Ponting was probably most consistent, never really out of form until the last 18 months of his career, which dragged down his average a lot. Lara had the highest, brilliant peaks, and had them at the right times, under pressure, with less support than the others. And as I said he was also just the most fluid and beautiful to watch. Looking at the likes of Kallis, Dravid, Cook, Chanderpaul, all with similar or better averages, all with similar runs (more than Lara), there is no X factor, Kallis and Dravid would farm their averages and turn winning positions into draws. They didn't really turn matches, they didn't draw crowds or grow the game of cricket.
Batsman going into shell is making it a tougher test for himself because he allows the bowler to bowl his best balls. So if a batsman goes into shell and still passes, then it's more creditable for the batsman, than attacking in between.
I totally agree 👍
I remember sobbing as a kid when I watched him get hit on the neck by a lethal bouncer by Shohib Akhtar. He was my hero. The best batter EVER to play the game for me. Thanks to Fox Cricket for making this happen! Love from 🇮🇳
Well akhtar was most dangerous bowler so he has that history anyways
Lara was and still is the best batsman. None of this generation's batsmen are close to him. He is still the best.
Agreed, sachin may have the stats but lara was the greatest ive ever seen, he was a genius with bat in hand
"sachin may have the stats"
Lmao brian lara once said he'd want his own son to look up to Sachin for batting. He calls him a genius, the GOAT. you can keep trying to validate yourself@@shylo8590
@@shylo8590Not Genius mate.. He was the WIZARD..✌️

Class is permanent. Thanks Fox Cricket for this.
lara is still better than all of the west Indian batters
I met Brian Lara and Waqar Younis in Oval ground on a charity faction couple of years ago, it was like dream coming true
If only his great mate S Warne was still with us,Warne to Lara was heavenly,
He is still very fit.
he will still make 60% runs of the west indian innings even today.
Pat, Josh and Stark are great bowlers, but to be fare they are clearly behind Aussi attacks of 2000s. Lara faced Mcgrath, Gillespie, Brett Lee and Warne, still had an average of 51. This guy is legend.
To be honest I think this Australian attack at least challenges the 2000s one. Obviously Warne is better than Lyon but I think the gap between prime McGrath and prime Cummins is way smaller than you’d like to admit and Hof and Starc vs Binga and Dizzy could go either way for me. Plus in terms of depth we currently have Boland, Morris, Neser, Richardson who would all be more than capable of being test cricketers, compared to who in the 2000s apart from Andy Bichel?
McGrath miles ahead of the current crop
Pat would have held his own in that team, he could have displaced Gillespie… The others wouldn’t have got a look in.
@@byza101 pat clears dizzy and binga very easily
@@jenconvertibles Pat is a great bowler, but he is nowhere near the mind games Pigi played with great batter like Lara, Tendulkar, Kallis. It was pretty much one sided games in Australia for nearly a decade.
I grew up in the golden age of cricket. I mean I got to see Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Jacques Kallis, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Steve Waugh, Graeme Smith, Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, M.S Dhoni..... I mean I could go on. Then the bowlers, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, Brett Lee, Shoaib Aktar, Makaya Ntini, Dale Steyn, Glenn McGrath, Jason Guillespie, Shaun Pollock, Andrew Flintoff, Daniel Vetori, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Monty Panesar, Harbajan Singh......Again I could go on. Do I even need to mention wicketkeepers? I mean we had the best era from about mid 90s to early 2010s.
Your forgot shane bond and Daniel vitorie and also harshal gibbs
I think Alastair Cook was amazing batsman
Greatest of them all the legendary Brian Lara, King of batting
There was no other batsman in the world who just tear apart a bowling attack like Lara since Viv Richards

Tendulkar did it better
Sorry bro but i guess u hvnt watch Sachin Tendulkar play.. God of cricket..

Without doubt, my favourite cricketer of all time. Phenomenal numbers, sure - but he made it look so fun, so easy, so stylish and so exciting.
There's no greater sight in cricket but watching Lara & Sachin bat....well done 👍🙏🏻
I'm from Grenada, I'm left handed and Brian Lara was my idol, I was hard to get out, love to pull, that man is the best ever
Best ever.. carried his team on his shoulder like no other.
Lara demonstrates class. He is a living legend. Watch his hand eye coordination communicating his foot work. It is important to watch his initial movement ( with high back lift ) while facing pace bowling. It is been observed that he uses his inner leg goes across to cover his stumps & tries to play delivery within his body in front ways position ( instead world batsmen uses side ways ). It gives ample time to handle pace & bounce with ease. Further, it gives time to slash a short pitched over the slips with command to score runs or an away swinger to be left it through to the WK. It is true technique to handle pace bowling. He is very strong with his legs ( loves playing within his body ).
Pleasure watching Brain Lara
One of the living cricket legend. Love you Lara from India
Undisputed GOAT in my books. Still got it! And the talk to go with the walk as well.
If Sachin is about perfection , BC Lara is about poetry. ❤
Watch 90' Tendulkar, more elegant and exciting. And stylish
@@firstal3799 nah lara more style
@@firstal3799
Nah Lara
is Way more stylish.
90's Tendulkar had no Peer in style including Lara. Overall Lara had more style through thr course of career. Style is not just about highlights of fours. Lara used to get tangled up by Yorkers and bouncers far too much even in his prime. Too many ugly fall downs and hit on the head.
@@firstal3799 tendulkar was literally bowled lbw from glenn mcgrath off a bouncer that hit him in the head lol
What a legend! Quality in aspect!! Many thanks Brian for this. That was incredible.
Vaughan must know Lara’s game well after being at the receiving end when BC Lara scored 400
😂
That was a fascinating insight. Obviously one of the all-time greats, but I am extremely impressed with Brian's ability to explain his thought processes. Even better, it looks like he could still open the batting against anyone out there! Massive respect Mr Lara.
Kids keep this one as a favourite . . . The way he breaks down the game and tactics against the three different bowlers is brilliant
Living legend ❤❤❤
This is a raw and pure class, genius Lara, always treat to watch even at the age of around 55 years old. By born genius 👏
No commentary is complete without mentioning Wasim and Waqar.... truly legend.....
He's a living legend and the greatest player that i have ever seen.❤❤❤
So much knowledge he was passing on; so much thought going into each decision
This is what a GIFT looks like.
kudos to fox cricket for this arrangement and keeping the cricket and skills at the front. Indian broadcasters starts worshiping a player and continues throughout the day.

I love watching that Caribbean flare Brian has.
Love to see these masterclass video's with legends Lara, Ambrose, Warne, Mcgrath, Ponting, Gilchrist, Flintoff, Pieterson etc. I used to practice batting left handed as a child, because of Brian Lara, he made me want to be left handed..
Shane Warne once said.,abt best players he has bowled to
1.Sachin
2.Daylight
3.Lara
Pure CLASS!!!
Still he is so fit to play that is amazing to watch
his top hand grip is still a mystery ... totally out of the box grip n still able to play both on side n off side...
Many people fail to notice. His hand grip goes against everything you would teach someone.
If Lara would have had a long career such as Sachin he would have scored 150 centuries. Pure masterclass ❤❤❤
Lara's cricket I.Q is just off the charts.
I love Lara's first big shot @ 5:18, Vaughny with the big flinch, Alyssa Healy just nodded appreciating the good shot....awesome
He is like Ronaldinho of Cricket... Pure Joyful Magic and Elegance... Amount of runs and stats fails miserably to reflect his ✨ magic... You have to witness it and treasure the moments inside...
Matchless talent ❤ love you Lara ❤
Lara and Yuvraj! The two most stylish left handed batters
Yuvraj was very stylish as well, but lacked the footwork and shuffle of Lara that made Lara look more stylish
Cheers to the legend
He is talent..
Best Player I have seen in my time BC Lara ❤
I have had the pleasure of holding Mr. Laras 501 bat and you wont believe how light it is , if its 2lb 8 i would be surprised if its that heavy , in an era of massive bats he used such a light one , thats what class and timing does for you
