Anshuman Malik After the seniors retired, Peterson was booming and the best batsman for England. But he didn't listen to the captain i.e. Strauss. Had verbal spat a few times. After Strauss, England team was in a bad phase as Seniors didn't get along. In world cup of 2010 he had an average of 55 + , though they were disqualify quite early. But the team wasn't doing any good. So they made cook the captain. Peterson didn't like the decision. He retired from ODI and T-20 in 2012 to focus on tests. In ashes England lost 5-0, Peterson had an average of 29. Strauss became the director of ECB, it was easier to sack Peterson. Peterson was sacked but he kept playing domestic cricket in hope one day they will select. Be scored centuries and double centuries but Strauss wasn't ready to take him. Even when England was in worst phase and every one was hopeful for Peterson's entry because of his great form in hone cricket. But they didn't take him in team. Although he used to attract quite an audience and money in IPL. He even left an IPL and crores of money just to play domestic cricket so that they would be impressed by his form and dedication and would take him in the national team. But it wasn't good enough for them. His record didn't grow as much as it should have. It is a sad story for the guy but he will be one of the most loved players despite having almost no records.
@@NoOne-ky1er I think you mean the ODI CWC which happened in 2011 and Strauss was the captain, because in 2010 England won the T20 CWC where KP was Man of the Tournament and Collingwood was the captain.
I feel Pieterson still had about 4 to 5000 more test runs left in him. Politics destroyed what could have been an astonishing career. And that is just counting test matches. He was also exceptional in the limited overs format. What a loss for world cricket :(
Kartikeya Kumar Yes it seems to be a South African thing. Only trouble I see with it is that it's hard with this technique to play an aerial drive a la Damien Martyn, Ricky Ponting, or when he was in rare form, Marlon Samuels. Because you're already a little bent forward if you decide to go forward you're going to remain stooped whereas the aerial drive is played best from a more upright position. The lack of that ability has probably hurt the South Africans in their limited cricket but helped avoid an unnecessary risk in test matches
Crazy Geeks The South Africans' inability to chip the ball over the infield has been a source of vulnerability for a long time. Most famously of course in world cup death matches against New Zealand where the Kiwis would bring the field in and bowl spin and the South Africans just couldn't trust themselves to loft over the infield. The same tactic never worked against Asian sides like Sri Lanka. If you bowled left arm spin to Mahela Jayawardene with the field up, he'd chip 25 peace-loving Buddhist boundaries to the extra cover boundary and raise his bat. Anyone can play a shot once in a while. It's a whole other thing to own it and be able to deploy it when you want. Kallis of course didn't hit the ball in the air much on general principle but even Kevin Pietersen who hit plenty of sixes seldom did so with lofted drives. I'm speaking of course of lofted drives to length balls, not rank half volleys
No...everyone does it...it’s the basics of professional cricket. I’ve played for my state, and every coach I’ve had till now have always stressed on the trigger movement, it’s impossible to bat fast bowlers without trigger movement...it’s just that Kallis, ABD have noticeable trigger shuffling.
I didn't know he did so much coaching but it totally shows. He explains things so clearly and delivers his messages with great confidence. Seems like he's not only a good communicator over text message. Fantastic video.
Technique for all forms of the game. Simple but genius application out in the middle. Him and Trescothick really were different types of England players. Although for different reasons it's a shame they didn't play more...
Nice one KP!! Love from India! KP fans want to watch your master class again in test and odi cricket! Please don't give up if you have a chance to represent south African team! Your technical game has always been inspiring! I was depressed when you were deprived of your career, your master class! 😪😪😪😢😢
Don't see even a single time stamp This shows that the whole video is an absolute masterclass and one cannot single out one important thing The way he explains the basics is just incredible
Great voice, great physique, great body language, great sense of talking, great sense of humour, great behaviour,,, if i start i will never finish,..... From the bottom of my heart i love u KP and will miss u,,, but i will meet u one day for sure.......
In his short time career, he dominated the legends and became no.1 batsman ❣️🙏 KP is the only player of all time favourites I admire from England❣️ Respect from India 🇮🇳🙏
KP was one of the my most favourite batsmen. He always presents the basics in such a clear way! The advice to keep the head close to the ball ('kiss the ball') in order to watch the ball better (and make better decisions) really helps a lot.
Absolute loss for world cricket.....KP you were the one who redefined this present England team....and look what they have done.....They are probably the best and the most exciting ODI team in the world at the moment.....only because they learnt that art from you.....What a loss for England....
He is like Ian chappell, dont have patience to be a coach to players but will be a great coach to the coaches around the world. He is very correct about eyes on the ball, the most underrated aspect of technique in batting. Once brian lara went to sir garry sobers when he wasnt in good form and asked for some tips, they spent 5 mins in the nets and sir sobers told him that "you are not watching the ball well" - he came back home and thought is it just that I am not watching the ball? it turned out that he started watching the ball consciously and then ended up scoring tons of runs same season.
1:55 to 3:35 completely transformed my batting. Head position and "kissing the ball" is 90% of batting. Cnt overstate how crucial it is to your footwork, timing and shot production. Get your head as close to the ball as possible, and the rest takes care of itself. Its easy to do it one ball, the skill is to have the mental strength to do it every single ball.
Important point to note, is that his trigger opens his front foot up. Many many top players do this and it helps with moving and playing straight up the pitch into the V
What he said about watching the short ball is something I think a lot of modern players today need to learn. They seem to play it worse and worse every year
Wow kiss the ball that's new and effective..keeps the head position good..great legend kp..and totally agree with the trigger movement.makes the batsmsns position better
Kp sir, Is your tregger movement natural or did you make it yourself. I love this knowledge. Thank's sir. It's quite helpful me and all cricket lovers.
He is the best batsman of England in my opinion.....if he continued to play atleast 4,5 years for England he should far ahead of Alastair Cook in terms of test runs and 💯.....but sad end to his international career......he was the hero in 2005 ashes along with flintoff....I like his hairstyle in that ashes😄
Is this trigger movement absolutely necessary? I am asking because I don't remember Sachin Tendulkar doing this. He usual stays still as a rock and moves to hit the ball at the very last second.
That 'kiss the ball' is a precious advice given here. One could agree how Virat Kohli keeps his head close to the ball while maneuvering shots
You rock KP
Kohli's been his fan
This technique helped me a lot to face fast bowlers.... KP is a great batsman
True
One of the very best player at his prime. Sad his career was cut short
A Class Act. Thanks and love from india

A most under appreciated master cricketer. So talented.
What a phenomenal tip. I have been trying out different trigger movement, found KPs trigger the easiest to use.
Scored my highest runs today.

To watch him play in test cricket gave idea about how viv richards had played
To watch him play in test cricket gave idea about how viv richards had played
I agree
Same as ab de Villiers
Thank you KP! Always tried to copy your style. Really would love to see him coach the indian team in future. Cheers from india!
The first guy who I saw doing this noticeably was Kallis, whose technique was followed by ABD as well.

James Power Just check out some of the lofted drives of Jack kallis which will remind you, how wrong your perception is !!

"Kissing the ball" has really helped me. Thanks kp.
This very video helped me work out a fault in my own batting. KP redefined batting in England amongst all levels.

The Way His Stance Gives Night mare To Bowlers 👍👌💐💐Love From India
Absolutely Masterclass. Loved as much as I did for AB’s Masterclass.
Really. K. P explains the art of batting in such a great manner.. Helped me a lot to face real pacey deliveries
thank you KP, you have really helped me with my batting. I went from barely hitting the ball, to hitting fours consistently in my local ground.
Have you also texted about your teammates to the opposition?
Don't see even a single time stamp
This shows that the whole video is an absolute masterclass and one cannot single out one important thing

Have met him?
Did you bro?
It was a pleasure to watch him bat for so many years, his elegance and dominance as a batsman was incomparable
If he was born in India he would have been the best of all times
No we got sachin
What would be his name then ?
Shreyash 007 Kevin Iyer 😂
💯
no. his talent would have been limited by corruption and political powers
Listen, for those are 8000 test runs speaking.
No it's 12000

I couldn't even touch before this video but now I have started smashing sixes in gully cricket.
KP thank you for this video.
Modern day great. Pity that Strauss destroyed his career just to keep his ego elevated.
Cook
My favourite batsman of all time
More like cook bro
How did Andrew Strauss ruined his career
Can Anybody pls explain what exactly happened?
Kevin Pietersen was as good as anybody in test odi and t20 he was removed thats a pity for england dreadful ending of my guru

Very impressive! Well n truly masterclass..
KP is actually an alright good bloke.
Extraordinary batsman
how will play square drive for balls going outside offside if you try to kiss the ball? there is no width left rit
Abd and virat also do have that trigger moment, it helps a lot to play shots precisely
So does Steve smith
Tq for ur trigger movement techniques kp sir
