That was actually a really good dive by Nasser!
Good effort
would have been an absolute ripper catch!
Being not that young it's very good
That too in formals!!
Saved 4!
As a long retired player, this is the only drill I miss from training.
The chirp between the fellas in that cordon made it all the better haha
Also, it's always hotly contested to get in to the cordon. A lot less running once in there.
where did you play?
That Nas leap was definitely just his muscle memory, professional cricketers are just built different. Able to do such things with little to no warmup is impressive.
Nas moved so well, he's 55 for crying out loud and he moved like he's 30, ball just didn't stick in his hand, only thing that went wrong, but damn. Love Nas, class bloke.
He was 47 ish back then
I bloody love Nas…. Such a good sport
Most players from that era of English cricket seem to be - probably the only way they managed to put up with all of the defeats and negativity.
Yeah, I love Nasser. Great bloke.
Once he caught that catch for the third time, i can tell he was very frustrated when he dropped a sitter of a catch
Actually a real good dive by putin😂
Keep the Ashes content coming!
2023 and same team on SKY. What a ride and what a video!
Natural instincts by Nasser
Putin's done well for someone new to cricket
,😂😂😂
He’s not new to cricket, he played for a long time
@@RR42636 You missed the joke
@@gtaquizmaster Its always nice to have something to retire to when the world domination dries up.
Michael Atherton was even called “soft hands” in his prime lol
All Indian loving watch real test cricket between England Australia. Ashes Test cricket at its best
Nice try Mr. Putin. Really appreciate your commitment at this age. 😀
Atherton and Ponting were showing how to catch whereas Nassr was showing us how not to 😂
😂 like that sitter
Don't do old mate dirty like that, he's 55 haha. He nearly got that ball to the right, just didn't stick it, but moved quick.
Nasser hussein was a brilliant fielder in his hay days! And obviously Ponting is one of the best ever!!
NH's dive is seriously impressive!!
These guys know how to keep improving the broadcast and interest more and more audience. Thank you
You are all incredible Comentators😊
A moment of silence for Nasser’s lost hair.😔
Fairly sure Ricky has had 'work' on his.
@@anthonyc4812 He has.
All Wisden greats.. except the commentator..
Sky definately know what they're doing.
PONTING WITH MOST AUSTRALIAN SLIP CATCHING STYLE EVER .. THE REVERSE CUP
I saw this live on TV when it happened but couldn't get it on YT at all. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!
One thing you notice about adult crickets at any standard is how seriously they take it all. I have only coached and umpired for the last 30 years, but I could tell some stories about what goes on. It does not matter if the average age is over 50, whatever league, 1st, 2nd or 3rd team nearly all of them take it all very seriously indeed. Take my word for it no one gets to even county never mind international level without taking the game even more seriously than the Saturday club player and they take it far more seriously than it may appear. I have seen grown men cry when given out or called more than once during an over, curse their own mothers, throw their bats around, and even take our Lord's name in vain, you name it?
not only slips ricky pointing is one of the best fielders ever only 2nd to jonty rhodes
Add run outs and ponting is better.
Symonds and Gibbs were better
Tm dilshan Maxwell Jadeja laughing at corner😅😅
None of those three are even close, specially jadeja. Not as consistent
@@11hitmanDageniusJadeja has nothing on Faf he great even in the slips. India needed to unretire Rahane to field at slip
That advice from Ricky ponting at 4:04 was on point 💥💥
Yepp...like a mini coaching lesson. He rarely discusses fielding even in commentary....not many can lay claim to being the greatest fieldsman in history. He does talk about field positions a lot though, but thats natural from any ex-captain.
Hands on knees ,is the best starting position for a slip fielder.
it's personal preference and figuring out what works for you. it's like batting stance, there's no one perfect way.. you got to find what u can do.
what's a relaxed position for you might be an awfully tense position for somebody else.. every player is unique
for me hands on knees is always a no go... i find extra tension on my body in that stance. i liked to hang my arms out forward
@@Lathi33 Like Mark Waugh?
Nassir hussain - lite Putin 😁
Not bad for an 80 year old 😅
Poor Nass another few broken digits!
Punter. What a legend
great to see - these guys are still fit
Nasser is fantastic
He is a good player, funny and great commentator! Kept laughing about nasser dropped a sitter 😂
SS Retro the gift that keeps on giving!
Putin and George Bush together in the slip cordon. Who would have thought
one of our greatest ever captains lost count how many times he won the ashes.
the whole sky team that support the ashes are different class. Genuinely top tier entertainment.
This i nice entertainment. Whatever pointing said was correct as far as slip catching was. Your legs should not be bending inwards as a slip fielder unlike what Atherton said. But, i feel like it is more so practice than technical thing. These commentators provide tremendous entertainment making sure game doesn't get bored.
You know they're a genius when they say "I dont know, I just did"
I think Indian cricket team needs to hire a foreign coach once in a while . It is important to freshen up the game culture from all perspectives.
Like ponting who can manage big egos
While this video wasn't about Indian cricket, as a response to your comment, I'd say Indian cricket is facing a much bigger problem than just a bad coach. I think we've let the players become bigger than the team itself, and it's showing.
@@advitiayanand5974chokli & vada pav 🍞
@@Jehandaruwalla Wow! How authentic! You came up with that all by yourself?
RickyPonting always mastered that..Very nice dive by Sweet Nasser..Shane Warne's good friend
Nasser was never a good fielder...Kallis and the Brian Macmillan of SA was the best slip fielders.
Nasser isn't particularly talented at any aspect of cricket, especially compared to the guy at second slip. but he gave his best and was a great captain for his country.
@@anweshchatterjee7595 his best trait is his mind. He’s a good thinker of the game and was a good captain. Maybe with a better side he would’ve been a great captain
@@anweshchatterjee7595 his best trait is his mind. He’s a good thinker of the game and was a good captain. Maybe with a better side he would’ve been a great captain. Tendulkar in his bio said Nasser was possibly the best or one of the best captains he ever played against
keep these nasser vids coming tooo funny
1:33, that was actually a really good effort. He was unlucky
2:25 not so 😂😂
Non cricket fans will never understand the culuture of cricket, having an all time great like Ricky and two giants of the game and superb thinkers of the sport like Athers and Nasser doing this for a 5 min intro is what makes the sport special.
Would have been fantastic if mark waugh had been here.
Rahul Dravid is the G. O. A. T in the slip position. And so is V V S Laxman and some more.
So just like his playing days
We say "They're legends" 🙂
What a lovely voice of Nasser Hussain come here Atherton Love you Nasser Hussain sir From bottom of my heart
he is one of the best commentator for england and very unbiased
dive to his right was really amazing!
that was a good dive and its ok if he dropped it but the sitter of a catch should have been taken!
Nasser is one of the best fielders in the world.
Apart from the belief that fast bowlers need to rest down at fine leg, why are there only a few fast bowlers that field in slips, and why are top order batsmen slip fielders?? As far as I know, Warne is the only bowler that is on the list apart from maybe Southee??
Probably because to avoid the risk of finger or hand injuries
@@rsfferoz interesting thoughts...but very, very rare in slips especially when standard fielders handle the ball far more frequently than slippers and get far more hand injuries.
Terry Alderman from Australia was a slip fielder
Ian Botham was an outstanding slip fielder. Clive Rice and Garry Sobers were exceptional slip fielders. Jimmy Anderson is also pretty good in the slips. So there have been a few over the years.
Even Hadlee and Dev had reasonable stints in the slips.
And not just slips but also the gully position is similar because of how fast the ball travels and the timing of your reflexes. Hadlee and Holding were magnificent in the gully.
@@beefy1986didn't Joel Garner stand at gully? About 15 feet tall, covered enough area for two people. Similar to Cam Green now.
0:34 here we got Phil Neil who's been our expert ni..
1:32 no one else had to do this though!
Naseer retired for second time after the final catch 😂😂
What an effort bY Nas.
Maybe a bus, mate. You might fare better.
Where is Mark waugh he is perfect slip fielder
Punter catching Aussie Rules style.
Lol Nasser didnt drop it, he saved 4 runs there
He won the contest morally 😉
He was one of best fielders though.
Ricky Ponting underrated as a cricket maestro
Would be listening to Ponting on any aspect of fielding, the other two not so much.
I can't remember the last time I saw a sky sports cricket video where they weren't rinsing nasser in some way
If there is anytime I'm feeling a bit down, I have to watch this lol..
M Waugh best slipper ever
He did far better than Bangladeshi cricketer
Catches win matches
I hear that all of the time and it's true
Is Putine dropped catch
Nasser dropping a sitter remind me of some Pakistani players when they dropped easiest catch
@Sky Sports Retro
You must change heading of your video
Don't misunderstand people.
नाच न आये आंगन तेड़ा
I hope Sky Sports is covering all of Nass's muscle cramp and injury therapy expenses. 55 isn't a joke.
As a 60 yr old, slightly balding Bobby Charlton, I would fight to the death anyone slagging off Nasser Hussain.
First one for Nasser would have been a pearler if it stuck. He could have dined out on that catch for years in the comm box. He moved well for a 55yo. V Nice try.
Title change :- Nasser Hussain demonstrates how to drop the ball during slip catching. 😂
Give him a break he's probably worried about wagner coup😅
Nas we enjoyed your incredible fielding when u were playing...
Ricky always class
Famous last words about Englands settled slip cordon !
What an attempt by Nasser Hussain! Wow!
Better than Young indian player😂😂😂😂
one thing that is patently obvious is the competitor in nass he hated dropping the ball and loved catching it thats why he was england skip
What is the black shirt legend's name.. 💗
My favorite team england from pakistan
Bairstow and Root must be getting training from Nas
best slip fielder rahul dravid remember that nxt time
That ball a way from him and he did good dive like jonty rodhse
Still catches better than Jonny Bairstow
Quite impressive how fit Nasser still is
Thats brilliant Nas
Except for that sitter 😂
Ricky pointing is best sharp chatcher
Cricket ball is very hard actually
Good effort from Naz. Still go reflexes.
Nasser hussain very good dive
Nasser Hussain dropping the ball during a slip catching demonstration 1022am 22.6.23 it's a well known fact that the slip is frequented by lazy players... can't be arsed running about? get in the slips.. as some younger player glares at you and saunters off to the outfield.
It was pretty funny though 😂
