Anette knocked this one waaaaay out of the park. Floor may be, and will always be, my favorite Nightwish singer.... but this individual song is hands down my favorite Nightwish song
This is a perfection by all the ways. Fan video included. Tuomas fitted his feelings and emotions to this song which Anette nailed totally having Marco harmonizing there and a choir too in the end.
Tuomas (in 2007): "Seven-and-a-half minute ballad which has a gospel choir, a gospel solo and pipes. I knew from the beginning that it was going to be the album’s last track. Seventy four minutes have passed by and just when you think you’ve heard everything, you’re surprised by a gospel choir. The warm spirit of the choir during the recording in Abbey Road has given this track a lot of strength. Even Jukka, who isn’t the world’s most ardent believer, almost got religious while listening to that. Those people really beamed with kindness. I have always wanted to write a song about my childhood but I haven’t been able to do it. This subject has scared but also haunted me for a long time."
For me there are two songs that stand out as Anette songs that should be sung only by her and they are this one "Meadows of Heaven" and the other is "Eva". They are both what you might call 'big songs' with heavy orchestral elements and haunting guitar leads with Anette's sweet voice. Tuomas is a genius music wise and both of these songs just help show how much so. Great reaction young lady, keep it up.

Uhhh wow...this one I never heard before, but I gotta say: this one got me in the feels and I didn't have tissues with me....they lyrics and the music were a perfect fit and Annette's voice was right for this song
Everyone who says Anette can't sing at live, should watch the live version of this song. Even on that low quality cell phone video, she is very good, and I like her ending more than this studio version. So, she can sing at live too, but she just had troubles to survive their busy touring schedule, and she struggled with old Tarja's songs. It's a beautiful composition. Thanks for this reaction. She made solid contributions to two standout albums, especially Imaginaerum. Her place in Nightwish's history is secure, in my opinion.

Another Anette song I cant really imagine being sung by anyone else. It suits her perfectly. Sadly, only performed live once, at Hartwall Areena 2009.
We all change our minds at times which NW Records are our favorite, they change all the time. But I've always felt the 2 records with Annette are kick ass. I feel Tuomas was at a writing peak when they made those two. Just good Rock records ! I love all 3 singers, I love all NW ! CANT WAIT FOR NEW RECORD !!!!

An undercelebrated gem. And metaphor/theme of Meadows is referenced again & again as in "Poet and the Pendulum". It is a core song in understanding Tuomas's songwriting and indeed his soul.

I love Annette. I love the song. But I’ve just seen a cover by a Romanian girl, Andra Ariadna and I think that’s the best I have heard. Sound out Andra, you won’t be disappointed.

Another Anette's finest is Escapist. It's a bonus track from Dark Passion Play and one of my personnal favorites. I never understood how such a good track ended up as a bonus but here you have it...
one of my fave NW songs in general is escapist. its a bonus track (with anette) and its so damn underrated. highly recommend it. also is the nose ring new or am i just dense? lmao. looks good either way. glad u enjoyed this one

I love this one, it's a great showcase for Anette and it is really moving. I usually stay dry-eyed anyway, I think because of the way it just keeps building and building; when I do cry it's early on, remembering what's still to come. Probably my second favourite Anette after _Turn_ _Loose_ _the_ _Mermaids,_ though it's close!

(Personly I like it a little more metall, but great composing as always) She is a great singer (at the time after Tarja, that was a hard stand but keeps NW living, ever thank for that to Anette.
