So I left that system before finishing that mission and since that system has no space station, I have no way of getting back. Is there any other planet in this expedition that I can do this mission on?

The fishing rod came with the previous expidition they added to the game ... and as you complete the mission in The Curse expedition .. they give you the fishing rod again .. to use during the expedition
