Hey #earlygang and #notificationSquad! I've wanted to try interviews on this channel for awhile and since I've been so passionate on this topic, I felt Eeowna was a great place to start! They're content, and growth strategy is absolutely amazing, I've learned so much working with them, and being mates with them.
I'm a small streamer myself and I have decided to use RUclips as my preferred streaming platform. I have tested them both and it wasn't an easy choice but I have noticed slightly more success on RUclips (an extra viewer or two, I know I'm small lol).. I feel like one of the best parts of streaming is the interaction you have with other people and if no one can find you, then you don't stand much of a chance to begin with.
For me it was a little easier of a choice. YT would get engagement from people from time to time and more views overall, organically. On Twitch it felt like streaming into the void. Then the videos delete themselves since they aren’t a video platform and it’s like nothing ever happened on your channel
i streamed on youtube for a year (non consistently) before i started streaming on twitch and I have to say that "cozy" games are more receptive on youtube. i also have to add that as a small streamer putting in so much effort for every stream - making thumbnails, adding tags, writing descriptions, etc. it's soul crushing to get no turnout which greatly affects your mental. you'll start spiraling for sure if you're not 150% committed and it definitely gets overlooked. this streamer had a pull of twitch viewers and established youtube content (and the 1st stream is also boosted even further) which is why she definitely helped push the stream in the algorithm, but someone with no platform whatsoever, it's not as easy. just wanted to give a little from the other side of things. i think more emphasis should be given on switching platforms instead of picking one over the other. if you're testing the streaming waters, twitch is less overwhelming and more community based. if you're more focused on editing and curating content, youtube has more outlets. as a content creator you have to pick the best combo that suits your lifestyle and personal bias.
I have almost 3k followers on Twitch, and about 100 of them subbed to my yt... you viewers wanna see you where they are. It's insanely difficult to convince people to change platforms. But livestreaming to yt and creating videos and shirts from it is a no-brainer. My youtube has been blowing up lately as I stream more there now. Also, you might be over thinking descriptions and tags if it's giving that much anxiety, I use the same thumbnail, description, tags, etc for each stream and I'm doing great👍
@@Artbug Yup, that's why I stopped watching Tim The Tatman, because he switched from Twitch to RUclips, I never watch streams here, I prefer just watching videos if I'm on youtube, and I think that's how a lot of people feel. RUclips isn't for livestreaming, like how Twitch is.
As a small streamer on twitch having been avg 20 viewers for 2 years, this is spot on. Just started on YT. Do it now people, wish I did years ago. Well done sir. Again.
@@cynicalia I now live stream on both RUclips and twitch. 100% true that people are loyal to one platform over another. A combination of streaming at a regular schedule on RUclips and creating RUclips shorts absolutely increased my viewership and subscription base. Crossed just over a thousand subscribers about a month or so ago.
just started streaming more seriously and regularly. hit affiliate yesterday so I’m very motivated to continue making my stream better. just wanted to say that i love your videos and your helping people like me grow my small community with tips and tricks! thanks you so much!
Another positive for streaming on RUclips is that your live streams remain on the channel. They don't disappear after a set number of days. The potential of viewers and new viewers stumbling on your channel only grows.
That’s absolutely one of the biggest reasons I Ike YT. My streams only get 3-4 concurrent but I get over 400 people coming back weekly for the replays. The way YT also lets you dive deep into analytics is way better than the simple system Twitch has
The best thing I've noticed about YT vs Twitch is that on youtube, your content is constantly being seen. I am always gaining subs, watch time, views, making money, etc... on Twitch I only ever "exist" when I'm live
You can just download your stream from Twitch and upload to RUclips. I think the audience in Stream is more “engaged” in watching more stream hours than in RUclips
I agree that once I started live streaming on youtube my channel started to blow up - there is so much more people on youtube to find you! However, while youtube doesn't need individual categories for each game, it does need more general categories like art
I've been streaming Minecraft on RUclips since May this year, and it has been great. I love the community, specially how new members get my Livestream recommend to them. I also prefer how you need to begin with the end in mind: plan content beforehand, with title and thumbnail included. Thank you so much for always presenting quality content, with facts, and not the typical obsolete answers you get from other "how to grow" channels. Always looking forward to your videos!
Thanks for sharing this interview. it gives us far better incite into what's going on and yeh why work 4 times harder when you can just build the audience here instead.
I feel both platforms offer benefits to understanding how you may (or may not) approach content creation but personally I give Twitch the edge for "finding your voice" more so than RUclips. That being said, once you know your voice... Your target audience.... RUclips takes the edge. In a perfect world I feel the best approach to new streamers (myself included) is spend a few months, hell the first year to get to know who you are as an entertainer. Once you know you what makes you, well you... BUILD. Find that niche and and passion and build towards it. Even in my own (small growth) experience is what I was a year ago is nothing compared to where I'm at today. For me at this point, I'm just waiting till I get my next twitch payout and swap accordingly. Always great content and keep up the good work!
I'm barely a streamer, but I made the switch over to RUclips from twitch because tbh, it's where I spend more of my time - I stream casually with the bestie once a week, I don't need a following, I like it to be chill. I just know that I barely watched twitch streams, but I watch a million RUclips videos, and when some of those RUclipsrs go live, I'll watch them.
I started streaming on RUclips last week and it’s been a blast! I’m loving it and I would never start on twitch after the fantastic experience I’ve been having here on RUclips!
The one thing to keep in mind, I think, when creating content in whichever form, on RUclips is you're making content for YOUR AUDIENCE. The algorithm basically matches your content with your audience, instead of putting it in some kind of category. Additionally, for small creators it's also way better, because all livestreams will remain on the YT platform unless the creator actively unchecks the box to keep the livestream listed. So, instead of having your livestream videos deleted after 7 days (IIRC) or a little bit longer if you're an affiliate/partner, your livestreams and all other content remains on your channel unless you delete it. That actually helps your audience find you, because the more content you have, the better the algorithm can understand what your potential audience is and thus present your content to your potential audience. For me those reasons were THE reasons to choose RUclips over Twitch.
I’ve clawed my way up on twitch to about 50 CCV and even tho it took awhile it’s more than youtube has ever given me in 10 years. Different things work for different people i suppose.
My only counter to this was my viewers never had an issue subbing/gifting subs on Twitch but on RUclips it was Dead. For a small/new creator it went from a couple of hundred a month to 0 from streaming
Been using RUclips as my solo streaming platform for a while now I’m glad that people are finally seeing the light AND that RUclips is continuing to improve their platform so that even people get to enjoy its full potential
THIS video is the one that convinced me to try YT live streaming. Streamed twice last week and honestly it was a great experience. Plan is to do an hour on Twitch and then move to YT for the next 2 after that to hopefully help convert my Twitch audience over 🙏 THANK YOU!
Part of the reason why people stick to Twitch vs anything else is because of the viewer experience is by far better on Twitch than anywhere else. Most people want their viewers/community to interact beyond the chat vs just seeing chat flying by and the number spike.
As someone who’s had 80-100 viewers on both, I had no issues reading chat. I wonder what size does it become an issue and if most who say this will ever get that size on twitch at all.
What she said about the importance of planning out a show on RUclips is so invaluable. One of my beefs lately with twitch has been people going live and not having a concrete plan as to what’s going to happen. Sure it’s important to adjust as the audience reacts, but you should always plan out what you’re going to do for two plus hours if there’s absolutely no one in chat.
As a small streamer who using kick i switch to kick it had freedom of speech and such but really you gave me insite onto this stuff like Streaming platforms like YT please make more vids about this so I could get better at YT streaming.
this is actually pretty helpful, maybe ill give RUclips streaming a try, I'm an affiliate on twitch, just from streaming old World of Warcraft Classic raids and got a lot of guild activity who would come watch for the raid. but streaming on and off of twitch for years i never gained any real traction. recently i wanted to take content creating more seriously and thought i would give kick a try, but its honestly like a different version of twitch, figured that it was so saturated maybe i can find some growth there ( side note im also making tiktoks and RUclips shorts, and long form RUclips content) so maybe as a "new" streamer, ill give RUclips Live a try. thanks for the video, was really insightful! thanks!
There’s really no discovery system. It’s just category browsing which is basically how the internet worked in the early 2000s. Browsing a website by subdirectories.
most of the people I watch and mod for are getting found in the recommended tab. I deal with at least 5 people a stream in one small streamers channel just off of that alone. Not sure why others are having issues there, but their discovery system works.
@@Stricknines Yes. I think it has to do with the content you're taking in on twitch AND the tags involved in those streams. I find a ton of streams with similar tags to what I've watched all the time. Recommended for you works, but it is Twitch, and the cool thing to do in 2023 is trash them in any way possible, even if it's a little jab.
For 3:15 another reason not many went to your twitch is because you’re RUclips audience watches your vids to learn how to grow their content or audience for the most part. So they subbed for one thing here and on your twitch you doing another
I’ve def be thinking about going to RUclips permanently . I’ve been doing twitch streams for about 3-4 months and couldn’t gain much traction even with outside stuff like TikTok and RUclips to bring viewers over. So I changed it up and for about a month I’ve done 2 streams on twitch and 1 on RUclips a week to see if there is much of a difference and after only a month there has been way more activity on RUclips than twitch. For some reason though it just scares me to switch completely but I think this video may have been what I needed to see.
RUclips already has Categories in the Gaming Tab. The Gaming Tab and Live Tab need to be combined on RUclips and have there be a Live Streaming Tab that resembles what the old RUclips Gaming Website looked like.
I'm a Warzone content creator and I usually stream on Twitch & Tiktok at the same to gain some range. works really well but I also to stream on RUclips when a there are some important updates or events because the VOD of the YT streams are really great for gaining watchtime and I also got some new subs from them
Can you make a video of how to set up streaming on RUclips coming from Twitch now that you have converted and are suggesting others to do the same? Thanks for the helpful content
Here's what's wrong with TikTok: If you're a creator in the EU trying to reach US audiances it's basically impossible if you don't have a US SIM Card due to TikTok knowing your location based off of the SIM Card you have in your phone. With that it recommends your content to people locally who might not know English therefore the video will tank in the algorithm since the viewers just swipe away. RUclips shorts is way better for growth due to it not having regoin locking systems like TikTok Just thought about writing down my experience keep up the great content
🙋♂️🙋♀️❓I scrolled back a bunch in your videos and checked playlists, but didn't see any specific videos about setting up streaming on RUclips. Lots about Twitch. Any plans for an "okay you've decided to move, here's what to do" video? If you have something way back, could you please throw that into a playlist? Would love to learn from you on this.
I don't know the reasons. I'm not here to argue. But I used to multi-stream. So I knew how the numbers compared. Even Facebook got me more views than RUclips and they were paltry. All I'm getting is you shouting louder and using ONE use-case as the shining example without really explaining the hows and whys beyond she tapped into cozy gaming markets just as DDLV came out. It's all conjecture, especially considering RUclips just doesn't really appreciate streaming inherently and Twitch built their system around large streamers. What happened to her could have very well happened on Twitch as well and speaks more to capitalizing on a trend than anything that supports RUclips vs Twitch. You could legitimately go either way. Also, she clearly had an audience coming with her to RUclips, which also helps her take advantage of algorithms. She also had quite a bit in the ways of views on her already existing non streaming content there. The only problem I've seen with RUclips, inherently, though, is that Live streams go in a completely different section in Studio, making them harder to edit in the same way as the rest of your content and the platform is pimping shortform content way more than streams, right now. I guess all I'm saying is that using this to definitively say "RUclips is better for smaller content creators/streamers" is just like shouting into the wind. You might be reaching what you're intending but you'll never know for sure.
SO i have a question. I dont get many views on my video (Im happy i get the views I do) but my reach impressions will be close to 1000 but only 20 people clicked on the video and watched 2 minutes of it. What am I doing wrong?
This video is a definate needed PSA and for those that say oh i never grow, i never seem to get subscribers, remember just like an art project RUclips takes time, you are not gonna be an overnight success in one sitting but trust me when i say what you do on RUclips will pay off. Your not alone in feeling like Twitch is dragging creators down but dont just sit there and wait for you to become stagnent learn grow and explore all on RUclips.
My question is as someone who is starting out, live streaming and trying to grow my channel. Is it better to just stream on RUclips or to stream to RUclips and twitch?
@@StreamScheme thank you very much, sir. Another question as far as streaming do you think there is a length of time streams should be that are ideal not too short or not too long or does it not matter?
I like this video! My question is how do you feel livestreams need to be balanced with releasing of actual content? Should I never live stream the same day or maybe day after I release content? I tried this one time (day after) and it seemed to affect the push of my video and focused on my live stream which seemed to negatively impact my video. Small sample size though so interested in hearing your thoughts thanks!
@StreamScheme Thank for this video! I've been trying to get back into streaming for a bit but my OBS reset some of my docks and I've been Contemplating heading to RUclips for streaming. 😂 But not sure which one make a comeback. 😂 This video inspired me to make a plan to start on RUclips. 😋 So thanks to You and Eeowna for the great advice! 😋
9:37 that"s what I loved on twitch... there is almost no plan. Viewers expect one here, like she said. But... what if WE keep streaming with almost no plan here on RUclips? Will viewers get used to it, like they do on twitch? Another question: ALL the talk about streaming is about gaming. I am done with gaming and went back to crafts. If you want to feel obsolete... then stream about normal housewife crafting, you will feel so alone. Haha!
Still, it doesn't work that well for me personally. But that's just my case, just as everyone has to figure out what works best for them. My youtube channel is all about music, not live-streaming. Those draw from 2 different audiences. So the fact that youtube has an algorithm where it tries to guess who my target audience is, means that the more I stream, the less my music video's will be recommended to people. I'm speaking from experience. Back when I streamed on youtube I saw the views on my music video's gradualy go down. The same thing happened when I started uploading shorts of clips from my vods. Ever since I stopped posting shorts and moved to twitch, my channel has slowly regained it's health in terms of view count. Plus the shorts never really helped and it felt like a waste of time making them. Time I couldv'e spent on making my core content: music. RUclips and more importantly my viewers and also myself now once again know better what my channel is about.
I’m going to be a new streamer soon. Hopefully I’ll get an audience. Hopefully someone will want to watch me play fallout 4 from the start. Thank you for all the advice.
Small streamer here as well, I'm probably super ignorant, but isn't it not allowed to stream both Twitch and RUclips at the same time? Or should I do that as well?
The harsh truth is. If you want to just stream and have maybe few people / small community to watch but never blow up, then just be a twitch streamer. Apparently, this is 99% of most streamers fate on twitch (no joke, real number). But If your dream is to be really top percentile, like pay the bills, or career type stuff, then oh boy, you better make content off twitch. Ive watched twitch streamers for 5+ years, some been 8+ years, yet still none of them really blow up and barely grew. I mean it makes sense, twitch has no algo and all they do is grind 8+ hrs a day for very little benefit in growth. Play smart, not harder.
@@StreamScheme I should have been more clear, I don't mean anything the streamer can influence. I don't want to go to the landing page of a specific stream before it starts, I want to go to offline chat that's consistent and always there. That and the way that chat scrolls on RUclips just feels awful. Both are personal preference but overall I still feel like RUclips is a much worse feeling experience.
Twitch works better for me. Im streaming on Twitch and YT simultaneously. Twitch has constant 12 viewers, YT 2 to 3. On Twitch there are lovely people chatting some time. On YT there every now and then idiots attacking my wife, for being female 🤦♂️ I know this doesn't mean all Twitch is good and all YT is bad, but Twitch just works better for me. Raiding is also a big feature I gained some follwers and even active chatters from. And even tho I have more followers on YT than on Twitch, live streaming just works better on Twitch. Vods doing great on YT tho
Also YT algorithms for VODs are complete dog. One day I was doing an awesome stream with my wife, lots of funny moments and highlights. Little to no impressions. The day after I did a autopilot stream solo, doing some boring stuff, and at the end half an hour of gameplay. This suddenly explodes in impressions and views. If the other stream had these numbers, it would have gotten me much more subs. I don't have the resources to make every stream a complete banger. I'd like to choose myself what VOD should be recommended and which not
What I also don't get. I have a series on my YT channel that is about one specific audio book series. The original channel has x subs, so why doesn't yt just recommend this series I produce to these subs? It's literally about the same topic, it's really well made, it's quality content, it's informative and adds value to the original. This is why I started getting active on the channel about the audio books, writing in their comment section, community posts and stuff, to maybe get seen by some, cause yt doing a bad job regarding that
My biggest issue is RUclips was really investing on making YT streaming better. Then they shifted to Shorts and have basically made no improvements since.
Not quite true, there have been lots of small quality of life updates, from chat tools to moderation and honestly I don’t see any major things they need since their tech is better than Twitch, and I don’t care about channel points.
Which is great! But remember you are the minority in that, the average user doesn't behave that way, and actually just goes right to their favourite streamer.
@StreamScheme I mean when I search for someone new, sorry, that could have been clearer. I'm not in any way saying discovery can't be improved, but I do think categories are a superior means of searching on any service, even if it is just a game genre option for categories.
What's funny. Is this useless entertainment does nothing for no one. People stream things like live trading which can help teach people how to make money, and people avoid it. LOL.

For 3:15 another reason not many went to your twitch is because you’re RUclips audience watches your vids to learn how to grow their content or audience for the most part. So they subbed for one thing here and on your twitch you doing another
Not quite true :) I covered twitch news on the stream, and didn’t see any large increases in traffic. Otherwise I would’ve included that.
I've noticed lately as well that Twitch has been fucky with categories now. Some games that used to be listed aren't now
not gonna lie I didnt think of it this way. I am glad I watched this. Thank you
hey, I'm learning and understanding all this!
I just... wanna keep streaming on twitch till I get my first paycheck, I'm already two thirds through :V
Here's what's wrong with TikTok:
If you're a creator in the EU trying to reach US audiances it's basically impossible if you don't have a US SIM Card due to TikTok knowing your location based off of the SIM Card you have in your phone. With that it recommends your content to people locally who might not know English therefore the video will tank in the algorithm since the viewers just swipe away. RUclips shorts is way better for growth due to it not having regoin locking systems like TikTok
Just thought about writing down my experience keep up the great content
🙋♂️🙋♀️❓I scrolled back a bunch in your videos and checked playlists, but didn't see any specific videos about setting up streaming on RUclips. Lots about Twitch. Any plans for an "okay you've decided to move, here's what to do" video? If you have something way back, could you please throw that into a playlist? Would love to learn from you on this.
Small channel atm. I found some success on both Twitch & RUclips. But lately i'm starting to see more views on RUclips.
About to hit 1k on twitch with your help :)
I've grown far more here on RUclips than my Twitch ever did
Any chance you could make a video on how to get started when you can’t afford a PC for streaming or content creation just yet?
I’m using restream and I’ve gotten a chatter from at least 5 of the services, even if it’s so much as an emote
I made a video a week or two ago about starting in 2023 :) answered there
@@StreamScheme thank you very much, sir. Another question as far as streaming do you think there is a length of time streams should be that are ideal not too short or not too long or does it not matter?
From a streamer i watched i heard that clips help discovery somehow im guessing cause they can appear on the home page
Hm.
This might be something to look into.
I have been streaming on both platforms and I prefer RUclips.
LJ you got a better background
@StreamScheme
Thank for this video!
I've been trying to get back into streaming for a bit but my OBS reset some of my docks and I've been Contemplating heading to RUclips for streaming. 😂
But not sure which one make a comeback. 😂
This video inspired me to make a plan to start on RUclips. 😋
So thanks to You and Eeowna for the great advice!
Haha!
I just love it when I get a notification saying "Someone liked your comment!" or "Someone has just subscribed!!!" That really makes my day!!!!❤🤞
Still, it doesn't work that well for me personally.
I started uploading this niche game which made stream and got 40-50 viewers avg but if i streamed on twitch mb 8 viewwers? lol
I believe if you reach affiliate and/or Partner then you couldn’t multi-stream.
Technically, yes, but I know someone who does it intentionally and hasn't gotten tagged by Twitch yet, so...
@@BuckyMF Oh interesting. That makes sense! Guess I just need to re-read the fine-print haha.
@@breadmanfun i'm pretty sure twitch changed it a few months ago to allow multi-streaming
@@cojodotgg I checked their ToS and it says its not allowed. #11 in ToS under "Simulcasting"
Did i got banned from discord ??
It says I don't mean it to crime and so what do I have to have a PC to do it on live cuz if that's the case then you didn't mention that
I went to analyze the channel of Eeowna and she went back to do live on twitch now I wonder why she came back 🤔
She streams on both, because it’s still smart to gather both audiences, while she transitions more of her twitch audience over to RUclips.
I just wish I could stream to RUclips from my Xbox because I don’t have a computer
Shame that the community vibe and chat is awful on RUclips.
I’d disagree, it’s on the streamer to make those things good, twitch can be terrible as well, and the gatekeeping on twitch can be far worse
How about kick? Can you make a video on your thoughts about kick
It’s worse twitch, that’s it really, it’s just worse twitch in every way.
I havent bothered with twitch streaming in a long time. I dont get a big audience on YT streams but at least I get some lol.
Twitch works better for me.
Im streaming on Twitch and YT simultaneously. Twitch has constant 12 viewers, YT 2 to 3. On Twitch there are lovely people chatting some time. On YT there every now and then idiots attacking my wife, for being female 🤦♂️
I know this doesn't mean all Twitch is good and all YT is bad, but Twitch just works better for me.
Twitch caters to maybe half a dozen different audience demographics (predominantly lonely nerdy men) youtube caters every demographic.
I like searching by categories however I also sort by lowest views to highest.
LOL.
#earlygang
good vodeo (first)
Nah tiktok is where it's at
As a new streamer I make 20$ from an hour stream with 6 average viewers
On yt, I don't have to do anything and my videos make money forever
