RUclips creators have what most of the cable channels and streaming services have lost. They have a value proposition and a brand identity. It's a much more enjoyable experience to watch.
Hollywood and the media are no longer in charge of who can be seen, what we watch, and who we watch. There are very talented and creative people that would have never been seen in the age before RUclips because of some casting director's opinion or bias!
Qualification to work in Hollywood is your nose, not your talent. YT has brought down that barrier where someone like Zach King would never get hired cus his nose is flat!
Same here! It’s the only streaming service I’m subscribed to - I have RUclips playing on my TV in the background during my workday. It’s so worth it compared to Netflix/disney plus etc
So I'm 38 and noticed this trend happening in 2015 when I first cut the cord. Getting RUclips on my tv was a big game changer and these days I'm watching more and more RUclips content and less live sports or streaming services. I like the fact that I can reach out to my favorite content creators and feel like I'm a part of an online community.
Been watching YT consistently since 2007. The one thing they forgot to add here that differentiates it (and is the original reason I picked it 17 yrs ago) is because of the COMMENTS SECTION here. There is an instant social and communal aspect to the exact vid you and others just watched. TV and other streaming services simply don't have it. Very ignorant of them not to!
RUclips Premium gives me no ads and the ability to listen while the screen's off. And the content people provide that I watch is no-frills, no-filler. Nothing else can possibly hope to compete with that.
RUclips is the only social media I use everyday. It's got everything, movies, news, documentaries, vlogs, travel, etc. I love it, very easy to use, just type in the topics you like and it comes up with a lot of choices. Excellent app!!
I am 37 y.o. and I have never subscribed to any streaming and I have never understood why people spend their money for streaming when there is youtube. It is free and never ending. Here is so much content. I have a long watchlist on youtube, I don't have enough time to watch everything why would I have any paid streaming in addition to youtube?..
Advertising still gets people to pay. They get a large subculture to talk nonstop about baby yoda and a few more people subscribe to Disney plus then forget to unsubscribe
Once YT allowed me to be on my phone with the smaller YT video window IT WAS ALLLLLLLL OVER. On it all the time I love it. Court cases on it yessss. The people who cover events in a genuine fashion, I LOBW them.
Yeah it’s probably really almost entirely about the outsourcing of content creation. A result is that every type of niche content that there turns out to be a market for gets put on RUclips without Alphabet having to develop that content.
Its the simplicity and originality that is driving the RUclips platform. RUclips has a mechanism to know the audience pulse through comments and this also connects the audience between each other. This feature doesn't exist in any other online streaming services to my knowledge. The content creators evolve based on the feedback from its viewers to provide better content.
And some of the smaller creators and documentary and tv show makers make very high quality or production value content, some of it is comparable or better quality to cable tv shows I grew up seeing, and better then the quality of shows some of those same cable channels put out in the past twenty years. Some of these small RUclips channels are basically cable channels or even small scale production houses/companies
Those executives that said RUclips content was of poor quality compared to networks (even if they were right at the time) must feel pretty stupid now. It's a good lesson for business people, just because something may appear like it's not a threat at the moment shouldn't be ignored because it could become a significant threat in the future.
I'm 69yrs and have talked with many not much younger, and now with the plethora of movies YT is hands down the best choice! Thanks for presenting this, CNBC!
Agreed, we benefit from Amazon Prime’s streaming because we would choose the prime delivery model no matter what. We choose the YT Premium because multiple people in my immediate household utilize it.
I don't own a television so digital content available online is my only source of entertainment. Over the years I've followed quite a few brilliant content providers and am discovering new ones almost every day. I'm happy to pay a subscription fee to avoid commercials. It really is the best entertainment value for available.
I'm a late bloomer in things and RUclips is no exception. I really regularly started watching RUclips back in 2017 really. I watch RUclips like it's a regular normal TV network. They didn't lie of RUclips being heavily watched. I watch RUclips on my 50+ inch flat panel tv and am subscribed to many different channels, mostly vloggers of different kinds, remix music (R&B and such), etc. Who would have thought I would be watching driving videos of different US cities and countries where the driver is casually driving through, say, Beverly Hills, Texas or other parts of the country or the world while videoing the drive! Besides reality TV which I watch on Comcast cable on the corresponding network, hence, BRAVO, I'm watching RUclips. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, you can find on RUclips from health, to death (process), capturing spirits (ghosts) to learning how to replace your vehicle brakes. I watch food vloggers, car detailing vloggers to real estate showcasing vloggers and more.😊
I think the youtube will always have an edge over other streaming services as youtube is not only for entertainment its also for education, as a life long self learner myself thats the value youtube provides me over other streaming services. I cannot go on netflix and search how to solve a rubiks cube or learn about calculus on other streaming services. RUclips being such a versatile service always will keep it ahead of its peers. But at the same time I think comparing youtube to other services is kind of apple and oranges comparisions in terms of viewing number and other metrics....

The science and technology shows I used to watch on cable have equivalents on RUclips now, and their production values are nearly as high. I watch so much RUclips I subscribe so my programs aren’t interrupted by ads.
My son (now 28) had health issues which meant he missed a lot of school. He learned physics, chemistry and maths from RUclips. The potential is huge, they're just beginning.
Because RUclips has original content plus it's cable content. You can stream everything you need or want right here. Love being apart of this community!
YT is miles ahead of everyone. YT is the reason behind many scholars, graduates, chefs, musicians, and just about anything you can learn on YT. And it's unparalleled knowledge terms of tutorials
Older people are finally discovering all the amazing original content on RUclips, along with all the mainstream stuff. If there is some niche topic, chances are there are some videos about it on RUclips. Also, music! IMHO, its music algo is far, far better than Spotify's, especially for certain non-pop genres.
It's not just clips from other "traditional" media. Some channels simulcast on RUclips 24/7. Particularly news channels, but also "foreign" channels streaming on RUclips to their diaspora worldwide. I regularly watch Turkish volleyball on TRT Sport, live or on demand, on RUclips here in Australia. And with a VPN I can watch many other channels and networks that are geoblocked. Broadcast TV is so rarely watched in my house.
I easily spend more time on RUclips every day than anywhere else. At night I'll binge some show on Hulu, Netflix etc but during the day it's nonstop RUclips for me. Paying for premium access is a no-brainer. I get most of my news from YT!
1. Everyone can use RUclips. It doesn't matter how old you are, or how young you are. RUclips is used by every age demographic. 2. There are multiple ways of consuming RUclips. You can watch it on your phone, on your computer, or on your TV. You get to choose which is most comfortable for you. I mainly watch RUclips on my laptop, because that's easiest for me.
RUclips can't hold a candle to narrative works on streamers, but it has vast small production educational, informational and RUclipsr (idk what else to call the genre) library and the only overhead is data storage.
It's the ads, not the content. Case in point... If you watch an hour of network television, 20-30 mins of it will be promos and repetitive ads. And it's the same if you spend an hour skipping from channel to channel on RUclips or some other streaming platform. And yeah, this may be fine with you if you're in your teens and 20s, but if you're in your 40s of 50s... it's pure torture. That being said, if RUclips were to drop it's ad-free premium option, I'd probably switch to Patreon or something.
The thing I miss is actually the serialized storytelling on RUclips. Things like The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, or Video Game High School. RUclips creator-led videos are largely related to reality tv, talk shows, edutainment shows, news stories, etc. But the long format storytellers are still on premium streaming
Critical Role and Dimension 20 scratches that itch for me, but I do miss scripted storytelling, too. Frankenstein MD, Carmilla, and of course LBD were what really got me into RUclips and introduced me to a lot of creators like the vlogbrothers that I still watch today.
RUclips offers a diverse and relatively unconstrained amount of content that appeals to individuals. Traditional media compromises by trying to produce and sell content that appeals to the mass audience, but by being able to choose to watch niche content that is tailored to myself, RUclips provides in ways other video based media cannot.
I dont see these companies competing in this space. RUclips has built a reputation and brand recognition that is largely impossible to emulate today and we can see that with alot of these alternate platforms that fails in a year.
@@brodriguez11000"strong," is a bit of an overstatement. They're hanging on, but barely. The business model is similar, but not close enough - particularly when it comes to ease of uploading and affordability for creators - and that's why RUclips wins.
I easily consume more RUclips than any streaming or traditional cable channels. As I am watching content I want or learning something new, like French. Old school cable did this, like Travel Channel, but its weird ghost shows. So now I will watch regular creators creating there own travel shows, like No Ordinary Adventures, which is far more appealing and it's minimal commercials. However, I'm starting to notice more longer or unskippable commercials. Which of course makes you want to purchase the pay platform.
RUclips is almost impossible to compete with it has so much interest specific content. People don’t really care. It’s not high-quality because the topic interest them and that’s the most important factor.
Profit sharing with independent content creators was basically the best move Google ever did. It allowed many small creators to fill in small niches. It's not just the obsessed parasocial aspect. The meta video gaming content I consume was basically what G4 should've been all those years ago. This space is truly a "for fans, by fans" content. Not to mention all the odd topics covered by the likes of CGP Grey (I learned tumbleweed is an invasive species).
RUclips is much more interactive compare to traditional streaming and has much more diverse content, so it is no surprise it is dominating. Shorter videos also mean it is less of commitment for people to watch than traditional “episodes.” But google has been getting more and more greedy with the ads. It’s ridiculous to have to sit through a 30-second ad just for a 1-minute video. Hopefully there will be some kind of competition/alternative to RUclips in the future to keep them on their toes.
RUclips actually listens to thier users. It’s beyond frustrating that Netflix or other streaming services have too much encryption. If I pay for your service I should be able to watch it on ANY device. I can mirror RUclips to any TV or monitor with a single button. Netflix’s needs me to only watch thier content on devices they approve
I love RUclips. It replicates the social experience and excitement of Cable TV with the on-demand content of Streaming. Since anybody with a computer ( or even just a phone!) there is a huge amount of variety. The recomdiaton algorithm is amazing, and gives me so many new channels to watch every day.
One question, please! Is NVIDIA a safe buy to outperform the market this year? I'm tired of these new buys every week, just to make up some assets with a low percentage on my $236k portfolio and try to keep everything around 10%.

I haven't had cable TV since 2009. And a big part of that was RUclips. Another reason is that the Daily Show, Colbert Report, and a lot of other shows streamed on their website. Like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I used to watch movies, but not anymore.
Been watching RUclips since 2006 I haven’t watched traditional news media and many years. Although I did watch a few episodes of NBC’s nightly news, but that’s national news and at least they released a full episode versus clips like other competing news networks. I’m surprised that the bigger networks haven’t made some arrangement with RUclips to broadcast directly to their RUclips channel. Clearly sports needs to do this. Make a 90% arrangement or they take 90% of the revenue and give RUclips 10% but they have 24 seven content it would seem like a no-brainer but they don’t do it.
My favorite traditional + RUclips pairing is Seth Myers Corrections segment produced purely for YT. I only used to watch clips of his show whenever the algo suggested it and the topic seemed interesting, but after I got hooked on Corrections, I watch his show like homework just so I can more thoroughly understand, participate in, and enjoy Corrections. 😂
We watch RUclips so much that we pay for this free service through premium and never start and restart like we do with other services cause RUclips is more than just entertainment, it's useful.
RUclips has been winning for quiet some time now. I stopped watching cable television back in 2008. Disney+ sucks ass and Netflix is just loaded with C and D movies. With RUclips you can literally watch WHATEVER you want. It's a niche platform.
I would slightly disagree, yes you can watch an unlimited amount of content but to say you can watch whatever you want is a bit of a stretch. RUclips is a great platform to watch personal or specific content, random videos or learning guides but it can’t replace streaming services like Netflix or something similar because they offer one thing RUclips can’t, RUclips is creator lead content which is great for somethings but not others and the creators who use this platform likely don’t have the money to make high quality content that you would find on Netflix etc or story based content like Harry Potter or one piece, means that those streaming services still have a place. I watch RUclips for specific videos that can’t be done on regular tv or streaming to justice but watch Netflix etc when i want to watch high quality story based content done to a justice RUclips can’t.
Middle Gen Y here, I use RUclips to fill the spaces in between silence and post-work life. I prefer to use the website for music, cooking, linguistics, history, nature, anime, gaming tips and other points of interests to pique my mind. There is hardly any excuse for giving up on music searching these days. I love the channels that upload rare vinyl to cassette only releases that are out of print. Plenty of diamonds in the rough. Cooking channels I used to watch in the background or for fun were those based in western asia to central and eastern europe.

@@CynicalDriver I know just wanted to share
Yes, now here's the task for you. Find all this "high in production value" without some kind of aid.
RUclips creators have what most of the cable channels and streaming services have lost. They have a value proposition and a brand identity. It's a much more enjoyable experience to watch.
Families that watch TV in the living room are also on the decline. Nowadays, everyone is single and living in a rented room with Ikea furniture.
Streaming services need more "click subscribe" ,"click on the bell", "our sponsor is" and "my Patreon channel/discord is" to compete.
Hollywood and the media are no longer in charge of who can be seen, what we watch, and who we watch. There are very talented and creative people that would have never been seen in the age before RUclips because of some casting director's opinion or bias!
Yep. Not so many gatekeepers anymore.
Qualification to work in Hollywood is your nose, not your talent. YT has brought down that barrier where someone like Zach King would never get hired cus his nose is flat!
Having it on our tvs browsing thru a remote was a game changer. I pay my You Tube premium fees with a smile! Totally worth it
Same here! It’s the only streaming service I’m subscribed to - I have RUclips playing on my TV in the background during my workday. It’s so worth it compared to Netflix/disney plus etc
RUclips is by far my most used platform. I love being able to throw content up on the tv with a click of a button.
Is this a fashion show
So I'm 38 and noticed this trend happening in 2015 when I first cut the cord. Getting RUclips on my tv was a big game changer and these days I'm watching more and more RUclips content and less live sports or streaming services. I like the fact that I can reach out to my favorite content creators and feel like I'm a part of an online community.
no one engages viewers in videos like YT.
@@GengoSenmon audience interaction, yes.
@@Allen-L-Canada Maybe Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
But surely “content creators” cannot replace the feel and quality of a good TV show or film? The money just isn’t there
RUclips Premium gives me no ads and the ability to listen while the screen's off.
Is this a real comment? It’s not a big mystery. There is plenty of content not available on RUclips. Duh.
@@BlownMacTruck ya....if youre stuck in the early 2000s
@@CosmicHarmony58Where can I watch Severance on RUclips? Or Dune Part 2? Or anything with Dolby Vision and Atmos?
Movies, duh.
I really don’t see how a Netflix type business model could compete with that
Picture in Picture strikes again!
I LOVE RUclips!!! Smaller creators make content that’s more relevant to my interests
I wouldn't have even known CNBC existed without these 10ish minute things.
I'm 69yrs and have talked with many not much younger, and now with the plethora of movies
YT is hands down the best choice!
Thanks for presenting this, CNBC!
I'm 58 and most of my viewing is on RUclips, the rest is on Amazon Prime Video.
same for YT, I am also in my 50s.
You can also pirate
Agreed, we benefit from Amazon Prime’s streaming because we would choose the prime delivery model no matter what. We choose the YT Premium because multiple people in my immediate household utilize it.
I never watch CNBC on cable TV, However I love these types of videos from them, and watch all the time.
Great point. Been watching YT consistently since 2007. The one thing they forgot to add here that also differentiates it (and is the original reason I picked it 17 yrs ago) is because of the COMMENTS SECTION. There is an instant social and communal aspect to the exact vid you and others just watched. TV and other streaming services simply don't have it. Very ignorant of them not to!
It isn't Snapchat, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram that's solid for viewers and creators; it's RUclips
Nothing feels better than turning on your smart tv to youtube while lying on your bed after a hard day at work
RUclips is one of two services I use when it comes to watching stuff 99% of the time.
The science and technology shows I used to watch on cable have equivalents on RUclips now, and their production values are nearly as high. I watch so much RUclips I subscribe so my programs aren’t interrupted by ads.
RUclips is not just a streaming platform, it's a content library itself where nearly anything search can be found.
My son (now 28) had health issues which meant he missed a lot of school.
He learned physics, chemistry and maths from RUclips.
The potential is huge, they're just beginning.
Because RUclips has original content plus it's cable content. You can stream everything you need or want right here. Love being apart of this community!
I love RUclips because there’s so much knowledge within it and the content is just incomparable!
I'm watching CNBC on RUclips from the Netherlands. 😊
RUclips Premium is the only streaming service I’m willing to pay for. You get knock off Netflix, Spotify, & obviously RUclips.
Since 2008 RUclips is my exclusive source for entertainment, information, education, current affairs, news, DIY, and everything else under the sun.
I am watching CNBC from Kenya via RUclips
I always recommend your channel to my trading friends. You really know what you're talking about!
I’m one of these people uploading contents on RUclips!.!.
We're using RUclips right now 😂 to see RUclips is winning
This report is wild! I gotta check RUclips out someday!
Not sure why Disney was mentioned, they are actively trying to destroy their streaming.
You forgot to mention one important thing, the comments section of RUclips, as a regular user, it's half the reason i watch RUclips
Vimeo is still going strong.
@@brodriguez11000"strong," is a bit of an overstatement. They're hanging on, but barely. The business model is similar, but not close enough - particularly when it comes to ease of uploading and affordability for creators - and that's why RUclips wins.
20 years ago I had a cable subscription, a Netflix subscription, and watched RUclips sparingly. Today I watch RUclips 99% of the time.
Also greatest teacher in the world. People don't give enough credit to YT.
RUclips premium is definitely the most important service I pay for. If I had to keep only 1, it's not even close.
I've been watching RUclips videos on my big TV since 2015 and I'm an Gen-Xer. 😂
A million thanks to RUclips for allowing users to see the past.
I just joined your VIP group, and I'm already seeing some amazing results. Thank you for all the incredible resources and guidance you provide!
I still can't afford these streaming services,
Meanwhile youtube: *I'm free baby*
The next step for RUclips is when a major mini series like Stranger Things picks RUclips over Netflix
RUclips us amazing ❤
I love RUclips. It replicates the social experience and excitement of Cable TV with the on-demand content of Streaming. Since anybody with a computer ( or even just a phone!) there is a huge amount of variety. The recomdiaton algorithm is amazing, and gives me so many new channels to watch every day.
One question, please! Is NVIDIA a safe buy to outperform the market this year? I'm tired of these new buys every week, just to make up some assets with a low percentage on my $236k portfolio and try to keep everything around 10%.
I've always advised the investors I know to exercise caution when it comes to new buys, especially right now. You should thread the market with the guidance of a qualified specialist or reliable counsel if you don't know where to look.

it really bothers me watching something on netflix, and not having a comment section to discuss the content
Half of these RUclips video usage on television are just baby shark and cocomelon on repeat
For me it’s also music video playlists for house parties or just chilling. MTV is so dead.
If Netflix launches an ad model with 4-5 ads of 1 minute each in the 40 minute episode, I would gladly watch that.
I watch RUclips more than I watch everything else combined.
News, documentaries etc. I watch it all on RUclips. Heck I wouldn't even watch CNBC if it's not on RUclips.
I haven't had cable TV since 2009. And a big part of that was RUclips. Another reason is that the Daily Show, Colbert Report, and a lot of other shows streamed on their website. Like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I used to watch movies, but not anymore.
And RUclips actually has more selection of movies. Especially hard to find older movies.
RUclips needs to improve its tv app. I really miss speed controls on tv app. Watching this on tv.
Love RUclips, I wouldn’t be able to make the content I make now if it wasn’t for RUclips 💪🏽💯
Im watching this on RUclips, not Netflix.
Love youtube. On it everyday
RUclips is amazing and free. The others i COULD CARE LESS
RUclips wins
The interface on RUclips TV is great
