Precisely. It's all about MUNNEH. If you have more coin, connections, crews, clout, computer code, control, corporate communities, and opulent opportunities... then you WIN. No exceptions.

@@who2u333 Bob Six and Gordon Bethune at Continental, as well as Herb Kelleher at Southwest, all agreed that if the employees are taken care of, then customers are taken care of. Meanwhile a constant lament of American Airlines flight attendants during their recent negotiations was that they "are not paid enough to give good customer service". Sort of a pickle, this business is in.
@@stephancox9105oh i miss Continental. And how could you provide better service if you are paid more? It’s the people that make the service, you get better people with better pay, but there’s no direct correlation of service to pay. You have great flight attendants, you have rubbish flight attendants, they make the same wage.
@@jaysmith1408 Perhaps. In the end, it's society and culture to blame. Americans are so self-centered, entitled, arrogant, and the extra safety authority granted to customer-facing employees and crews made them power-mad.
I feel like United had a chance to gain ground by not revamping their miles program to make it shittier for customers when Delta did it but no; they both wanted to be greedy.
United didn't though? In fact, they made it a little easier in that MileagePlus redemptions now contribute to status - not just $$$ spend + flight segments.
At 8:31, I'd say the biggest difference is the passenger experience. United is known across the country for their rude and unhelpful employees, and Delta has exactly the opposite reputation. In fact, I was recently at an airport where the Delta and United counters were directly next to each other. Delta had three agents working the desk, and United had zero. If United truly wants to take some of Delta's business, they'll need to teach their employees to be nice to passengers.
I fly United a good chunk of the time I travel due to them being Star Alliance. You are very correct, most United employees are terrible and unnecessarily rude.
@@CongressSux1776 As a former United Employee, I have to agree, the nice employees are punished and overworked the rude ones are promoted. The flight attendants are the worst, they even treat they own co-workers horribly. When flying I fly any other Airline but United. I have flown with a lot of different airlines around the world and I must say that Delta employees were the best: they were friendly and approachable. I flew with United this spring and my experience with them was fine.
@@iradahmmHaving been a DAL flight attendant for many years, it makes me proud to hear these nice comments. I will say, in all of my years of flying I tried each and every flight to be kind and was known for my smile! I started in 1980 and was through several mergers, so ending with Delta was a dream I had back in 1980, but didn’t get realized until our merger. I see a lot of changes today as I fly around, not always for the good, but, I always felt I did my best and gave it my all during my long career. It makes me proud to see how well Delta is doing and keeps improving.
It doesn't take much to gain momentum, really. The airline industry has been a race to the bottom since 1978, the utility that air travel once was has been commodified by fatcats trying to please shareholders more than passengers, and air travel in and of itself has become less of an experience and more of a rather stressful means to an end.
@@stephancox9105 take a look at how much a plane ticket cost back then and then ask yourself if youd be able to fly nearly as much 50 years ago as you can now
Interesting how there's not a single word about customer service as a key to accomplishing business goals, this is for the US airline industry in general.
I hope people bring up the horrible incident from 2017 where they showed terrible customer service by beating and forcibly dragging a doctor off a flight.
I’d argue United is better than Delta at this point. Just look at meals of United compared to Delta, United imo has better food and more than Delta offer. United offers a main course, side, bread w/ butter, and a dessert item. I believe Delta only offers a main course and a side and maybe a dessert. Network wise, United is clearly well clear of Delta especially with their Star Alliance connections in Asia to the likes of ANA, Eva Air, and Singapore Airlines. Yes Korean Air, China Airlines, and Vietnam Airlines are a good airlines which I believe are 4 star carriers, ANA, Eva Air, and Singapore Airlines are all 5 star carriers all within the top 8 airlines in the world. In Europe, United offers connections to Lufthansa, Swiss International, and Turkish Airlines. Of the top 10 airlines in the world, 5 are star alliance (ANA, Singapore Airlines, Eva Air, Turkish, Swiss).
I traveled as a handicapped passenger for the first time on United in the past month and united was world class! From the agent at the accessibility desk to the supervisor who helped us in baggage claim after we found my rollator crushed and shrink wrapped on the baggage carousel... it was such a pleasant surprise !!! I'm happy to share the story
United has BY FAR the best mobile app in the entire aviation industry, among domestic and international airlines. It's often taken for granted just how much you can actually do on their app, and it's always being updated. 10/10
I stopped flying with United Airlines many years ago due to the rudeness of the cabin attendants and lack of customer service. Thanks to United, I became a loyal Delta Airlines customer.
Airlines are not in business to make money off of travel. They make the big profit from their frequent flyer programs and without them they would be losing money. In 2023 Delta got $6.8 billion just from Amex. A/A $5.2 billion from partners and UAL $3.2 billion. Programs run about a 50% profit margin.
The only good thing about United is they're partnered with ANA so you can get on ANA flights. ANA far surpasses any US-based carrier. There's a reason why they're consistently ranked as one of the best airlines in the world.
U.S. based carriers can’t hold a candle to many foreign carriers when it comes to service and price. I flew United once internationally in 1998 and then not again until 2019. Why? I discovered Singapore Airlines, Cathay, ANA, Asiana, JAL, etc… Competitive pricing (usually cheaper) and FAR superior service. I flew United internationally again in 2019 because they offered $350 roundtrip from SFO to London.
Why not just fly ANA and cut out United? If I disliked a company as much as you dislike United I wouldn’t waste any coin on them. I dislike South African Musk so I don’t spend any coin on his company’s.
@@skypirate6278 You can fly ANA from Los Angeles to Tokyo. But not between Los Angeles and Newark. The US airline industry needs to be deregulated to Argentina's standards under the Milei Administration, to the point where ANA can operate that Los Angeles to Newark route, or to where any foreign airline can operate domestically within the United States.
@ I’m sure that ANA flies Tokyo-NYC. No need for ANA to fly LA to NYC. Last time I checked United is doing fantastic on the La-EWR route. No help needed from ANA.
@skypirate6278 Right. But imagine if it was legal for ANA or Emirates to legally operate domestic service between LA and New York. Imagine flying on airlines with high Japanese and Arab service and professional standards domestically within the US. The US-based carriers would crap themselves trying to compete; in truth they really can't because Americans wouldn't know good airline customer service and paxex if they held box knives to their throats.
@@zach1415personally I find air Canada to be quite consistently average. Whereas delta is either a world class business product or a complete nightmare.
@@zach1415 Equal. Air Canada has a slightly better long haul economy product, but United is as good in premium economy and business class. The United app is miles ahead of Air Canada. The lounges are similar - though I might say Air Canada curates a more interesting food/beverage selection. The problem with Air Canada is Toronto (YYZ) can be an absolutely miserable airport to fly through. It’s best avoided and worse than any United hub.
@@CJ.1998X.Y.Z I agree with this comparison of Air Canada and Delta. I used to take a reasonable number of Delta flights (domestic and cross-border) and found them to be usually above average (same with partner airline Aeromexico, which can be a total nightmare if things go wrong). Air Canada is consistently good - not great. The lounges and its business class product used to be better than all the U.S. airlines. Now it's about the same as United and trailing Delta.
Funny enough, I just had my first United flight today (10/27/2024) and it was amazing. The quality of service and the ease of use of the app, 10 out of 10!
@@quietus13 EAS? CRAF? Government and military contracts? Airmail? Bailouts after 9/11 and during the COVID-19 Pandemic because they're vital to the economy and "too big to fail"? Correlating government subsidy with service is a tired argument. It's culture that's the problem.
@@stephancox9105 you cannot compare occasional corporate bailouts and government contacts of US airlines to the state sponsorship of Emirates, Qatar Airways, or the like. Idk, every time I've flown Delta, it didn't appear your employees really enjoyed coming to work as much as you say. Either I'm missing something, or the Delta employees and frequent flyers are in a cult.
@@stephancox9105 do you work with people that hate coming to work? their is plenty at delta too. United will ALWAYS be second to Delta in my opinion. If I have to choose from a flight to the same location between the two I’m picking delta. The flight experience is just more comfortable and luxurious imo. And I’m someone who has traveled to 58 countries and several domestic flights in USA. Never been flown first class either 👌
For me the comfort of the seats is a huge factor in who I choose. American has absolutely painful seats on overseas flights, United has bearable seats, but I've recently discovered that Delta felt pretty comfortable even in economy. I was satisfied with the leg room, the onboard entertainment, and I wasn't squirming in pain for 10 hours. Plus they offer nonstop flights to destinations United doesn't. I'll definitely choose Delta from now on whenever possible.
Nah, delta will ALWAYS be a no-union scum airline that spends tens of millions of dollars spewing ant-labor propaganda to ensure their employees are At-Will. Delta = Disgusting!
I’m from Houston and Continental Airlines was always our go to! Also the main reason why I fly with United now cause of that merge. Plus their credit cards are amazing. #chasebizclub
We generally fly United to Europe because of their nonstops but one of the issues with United is old long haul equipment. A couple of years ago we had a flight from Newark to Milan cancelled. The next night as we were pushed back the auxiliary would not start the engine so we had to get pushed back to the gate to get the engine started and finally 4 hours late we took off. The following year our flight from Munich to Newark was cancelled again because of equipment issues. Fortunately we were able to get on the Lufthansa flight. We did try Air France on our 2 flights to Europe last year but the layovers in Paris were hours long and they use terminal 2 at Newark which is a dump, even though the Port Authority dumped millions into a renovation. We are flying United to Geneva in a few weeks, Swiss doesnt go there from Newark, and we are headed to Lisbon early next year. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.
If you can afford it, fly in Polaris on United. The wife and I splurged on a Hawaii trip this year and ended up in Polaris class to and from Hawaii. Going to Europe, you'll get the full experience, what we got we totally enjoyed and are saving up to fly Polaris to Europe for our 10th Anniversary trip in 28.
Used to be a frequent flier on Delta and now am with United. Delta has far superior customer service. In addition, they have the better hubs. I have never had so many delayed flights like with United, most times being due to weather at their hubs, repairs, etc. By far the worst hub for passengers has to be their horrible Chicago hub and that will continue to be United's downfall. Delta's hubs are much easier to navigate, better layouts, etc.
Our company switched to United from delta recently and most of us (over 200 employees) are mostly satisfied with the move. United is much easier to switch flights at last minute or cancelling than delta. Their app is far more user friendly and has more features than any airline. Reward program is better than the other two. Their Polaris lounges have impressed all of us. They’re beautiful. Like you said they do have hubs at problematic areas like Chicago with weather issue or EWR. But delays / cancellations are not too different with delta and UAL. At least from what we have seen our team and myself for this past 2 years.
Show how Frontier and Spirit dragged down service and professional standards across the industry, like how the mentally-deficient juvenile delinquents drove down the grade of the rest of the class?
As someone who just had to fly United for a job interview and was uber late for the 1st day of interviews because my flight got delayed 8 hours, perhaps they should focus on taking their customer service hub away from freaking India and actually work on NOT delaying people's flights repeatedly. THEN they may actually be competitive. Thank god i was still able to get to my job interview and do well and receive an offer soon but being late because my flight got delayed soo much was beyond infuriating.
Last January, I had to fly to Los Angeles to catch a cruise and I took United. Lo and behold, it was during the 737 MAX issues, which affected my itinerary. United's customer service call center was able to fix things with time to spare, thankfully. But I did have to talk to Apu in Bangalore. Which kinda burned my ass, because I used to be one of the guys answering the phones for United in America.
If you are going to an important job interview isn't it your responsibility to ensure you allow plenty of time to get there? Flight delays affect all airlines for so many possible reasons, some are within the airlines' control and others outside of their control.
United and Delta aren't bad and I've flown both carriers. However I prefer Delta because my home airport is one of their hubs. United barely has a few gates while Delta has an entire terminal all to themselves. This is important for me as I need more options and flexibility.
Just off the 13 hour long flight between Australia and USA. They don't even provide toiletry pack, the seats are not that great, food is below average. But the prices are super high when compared with Qantas. I must appreciate the service of United though.
I live in Houston and avoid United. They are poor here. My flight was delayed by 7 and couldn't find anyone at IAH to help. I had to call someone who finally assisted.
Employees that I worked with at United that were from the Continental days before the merger feel the same way, I left United now but when I was there, I was told I am too nice, I was over worked and when I flew on the Airline twice, the Flight Attendants who are our co-workers were very rude. Many other employees say the same thing.
The biggest asset of United is San Francisco where the travel demand for top earning tech companies is located in. Hub quality rank:United>Delta>American
The SFO hub is a plus for me. I fly out of an airport in Oregon (not PDX) and often fly South to LAX, Las Vegas, or San Diego. Other airlines backtrack me through Portland or Seattle, or take me all the way clear to SLC or Phoenix to connect onward. SFO is more convenient.
@@seanthe100 Yea, it helps United to capture traffic in midwest where townhoods are sparsely located, scattered traffic with little competition(some town are served only by one airlines, often time United) where they can sell in a premium. Although they had Salt Lake City run by Delta to compete with.
I’ll choose American, Delta and southwest over united airlines any chance I get. United charges the same for or more for basic economy as other airlines but while carry on is free with those other airlines, united charges a fee for carry on. United now forces customers to add a credit or debit card that will be charged twice the amount of a check or carry on fee if you were to bring your bag to the gate and it was deemed to be a checked or carry on instead of a personal item if you are basic economy ticket holder. They are taking on the fraudulent practices of low budget airlines in their race to be number one.
I’ve only had great experiences with United & I live in Dallas which is an American hub, but wouldn’t mind making a stop at their hubs. I go a lot for the experience
As someone who has taken trans-pacific international flights with at least a dozen airline companies. United crew is by far the most impolite to their customers.
Impolite crew is an unhappy crew...because the airline is trying to squeeze every last drop out of them (all employees) to become 'number 1'....Why?.... bragging rights for the owners & better stock returns for the shareholders. Employees & customers mean nothing....all about the money.
Basic economy, not economy. You pay the extra $30-50 and can pick seats & have carry on. It's still better than American Airlines by a long shot. Delta includes carry on for ANY ticket but it is usually slightly more expensive. Delta and United are the best and it's not even close.
@@LuKiSCraft actually the lowest fare of United without the carry on is similar to those of Delta and AA, which both include the carry on. I’m talking about the EWR/LGA/JFK - MIA route. Plus United flies from EWR only. AA is way more convenient than United here. But I get the marketing message here, United catching up with Delta, leaving AA behind 😜
@@mosca-tse-tse I still slightly prefer Delta to United but United is better than American hands down. Maybe you got lucky with your experience with AA but I know I am far from alone in this opinion
As an EP with AA, I find myself starting to fly United more. Once I burn through my AA miles I think I will fully switch to United. Its been a great experience so far. I tired Delta and while they were good, where I live they have pulled out so its either AA or United.
I don't know about the rest of everyone else here, but I absolutely love the United Airways. I feel they are the most innovative airways with great branding and coordination. Although I wish they would retire their 767s and A320s quicker.
I miss Continental Airlines…smh. I remembered being so upset when I heard United was merging (taking over). It never works out well for the flying public.
I was a long time loyal United customer but theiir pricing over the last few years that is sometimes double everyone else has made me move to American.
Well unfortunately I just won't use Delta or United in the future. I really do hope that JSX, Breeze & other lost cost options will be able to gain more of a footprint, but we'll have to see.
United Airlines is already the best airline, in my opinion. I've spent months in the air for accumulated time and United has been my go to airline, every time. I have tried many other carriers, but United is and will continue to be my go to choice for air travel.
Alaska Airlines actually has the highest profit margin in the industry. Airlines are all about scale, of course the bigger airline makes more money but margin is where airlines live and die. I’m not sure where United sits on profit margin, but it’s nowhere close to Delta or Alaska.
As a delta diamond member and a United gold member I can say I get way more bang for my buck with United gold than delta diamond. Especially when traveling with friends and family
I spend around $15k a year and I’m so happy being a Gold Medallion with Delta. Two free check in bags is a big plus for me, by the way I live in Houston (IAH) and I never use United.
I would like to see United grow by adding nonstop flights from smaller east coast cities including Providence to Denver. They could also grow at Washington Dulles by increasing from 4 connecting banks each day to 6 or 7 to give its customers more options throughout the day.
i hope they bring back flights to/from Paris and Panama City out of Denver and add new ones as well like Sao Paulo, Sydney, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Reykjavik, Rome and Zurich out of Denver as well and I hope they bring back flights to/from Rio De Janeiro and Dubai out of Dulles and do new ones out of IAD like Buenos Aires, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki and Istanbul.
If United wants to compete with Delta, they along with American should copy the service I've received from Delta. I fly twice a year between the US and Europe, and I'm always happy when my company gets me on a flight with Delta. They've not yet disappointed me with Service.
The specific reason Delta has excelled from a customer point of view is, number one customer service, friendly flight, attendants, friendly staff, number two aircraft technology, airbus planes versus Boeing, more modern more comfortable planes.
Non-union employees are part of the reason too. Delta's employees are non-union therefore they can better serve the customer, compared to United or American which both have unionized employees (e.g. unionized flight attendants) who will always favor their union first.
My experience is the opposite with Delta being the absolute worst. Probably because they are non-union and when you treat employees that bad it will bleed into customer service. Avoid delta at all cost.
Not unless the trains become economical. Say what you want about flying but it’s cheaper, easier, and faster than the train. And for reference I have priced flights and train rides to Boston from the Philly area. It was $300 one way on the train and $100 round trip for the flight. I’m sorry it’s not even comparable.
RUclips just recommend to me the "United Breaks Guitars" song. Classic. The band wrote that song after Untied broke their guitar and then United's stock crashed 10%.
Comes to show how American Airlines has really fallen behind both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. And that can all be attributed to their executives, who originally came from US Airways after US Airways took over American Airlines in 2015 (the same executives had also come from America West Airlines, which took over US Airways in 2007). Since then, American Airlines chose to retire their relatively new long-haul Airbus A330 planes during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which they had inherited from US Airways after their merger in 2015, as well as their Boeing 767-300ERs and Boeing 757-200s, and couldn’t grow their international presence post-COVID unlike United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. Furthermore, American Airlines’ executives also decided to completely do away with their personal seat-back entertainment on all of their domestic flights across their Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 fleets, in favor of streaming on passengers’ personal devices, whereas United Airlines and Delta Air Lines are doubling-down on adding more personal seat-back entertainment on all of their domestic fleets. Bottom line is that it’s clear that American Airlines’ executives, who preciously came from US Airways, and America West Airlines before that, wasn’t open to adapting to changes post-COVID like both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines were, and as a result, American Airlines’ stock price is still stagnant at the bottom while both United Airlines’ and Delta Air Lines’ stock prices are hitting higher valuations than even before the COVID-19 pandemic.
People who only travel only once per year are the ones always complaining. I travel more than 10x per year and rarely have an issue. If any issue more has to do with the airport than who you are flying with.
exactly man thank you. I have always traveled a lot myself and i've never had any major issues. People are just scared to admit their lack of experience in traveling and handling situations that come in them and if they travel more they would understand it more.
I travel a few times a year, on different airlines, and find some airlines are better than others. United is definitely toward the top for me for several reasons, but by no means Number 1. If there's anything I have a problem with when I'm flying, it's the TSA. But that's neither here nor there.
@@stephancox9105 exactly dude. I feel the same way 100%. No matter howe we look at it, we just gotta make sure we know they all do their jobs the best they can and we all should make sure we keep appreciating that to the best of our ability since no company in any industry is perfect. I am blessed with the opportunities that are given to me.
United is sorta rising but not really. Delta is shrinking I would say. Mediocre service quality with increasing price is Nationwide pheonomena. We US people are just plain paying more these days for poorer services and products. Everything is getting expensive but income is not. But the country is stronger than ever, seemingly. It is decaying from its base. Things are getting stared.
There is a greater rot in our nation, society, and culture. And airline service quality (or perhaps the lack thereof) is just the tip of the iceberg, the symptom of a greater disease.
From my experience, the big 3 here in the USA are not competing, but rather caluding to restrict flights and increase prices. It is nothing more than a tri-opoly.
I miss the days when the public had many airline choices: Eastern. Western. National. Continental. Northwest. USAir. Piedmont. PSA…. Just to name a few. More airlines, more competition. Better choices.

@@henrylopez3479 I’m assuming you’re talking about Dr.Dao’s incident with floor dragging. Airport police did that. Compensation just went higher now so doesn’t happen often. Tires blowing up. You don’t think delta’s tire doesn’t ? Two mechanics just died at ATL delta due to tire exploding during overhaul. Aircraft tire failure happens all over the world with airlines. United’s tire incident was found as a failure on part itself. Nothing with installation. Door exploding mid flight ? You sure that’s United.
United is part of Star Alliance. That places it on top of international flight relations. It's the only US airline in Star Alliance. Star Alliance has Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian LOT Poland etc but also Singapore Airlines and Air China, Ethiopian, etc.
It also has All Nippon. Which means on a flight between San Francisco and Tokyo, you can book yourself on an All Nippon flight. All Nippon, as a Japanese airline, is known for their pleasant, deferential Japanese hospitality, of course. That's why you booked on All Nippon. But then you get into SFO, and find out that your All Nippon flight is actually on United, because Star Alliance conned you that much. Imagine booking a room at the Hyatt Regency, only to be told by the front desk clerk that "actually, your room is at the Motel 6".
@@stephancox9105 You see that from the flight number. This is pretty irrelevant now because of transferrable AMEX and Chase points. United almost never offers the best award redemption rate for international flights

Being a "ridiculous asshat" is no justification for police brutality; even if post-9/11 air travel in America is a paranoid security hellscape. The "disgraced doctor having his license taken away" part has not been verified; supposedly there was another Dr. David Dao in Louisville, Kentucky that had his license pulled. I don't know why Delta is so popular. We flew delta back in 2022 and that plane ride was so freaking cramped, it was unbelievably uncomfortable. Especially for that 1800.00+ cost. We are flying United this year and I really hope it's a better flight.
Delta is still way better. Staff are nice, no delays, and even economy is comfy. United is only “rising” because its affordable and they got more mergers/partnerships.
I've noticed that United flies more nonestops than Deltas, at least for my routes. Their service has definitely improved and you can see that in their interactions in-cabin. They've closed the gap dramatically but this has also come at Delta's expense who's losing a ton of loyal customers due to their rewards program changes
Flying domestically, I almost always find that United is more expensive. American, Southwest, Delta are almost always dollar-for-dollar the same price to most regional destinations, and the United will sell me a base economy fare that doesn't include a carry-on for 10x more.
As a Northeast resident, until they fix traffic and weather closures, that affect no other airports, at Newark I'm avoiding United like the plague, because Newark SUCKS.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot this year while I’ve been traveling around the US weekly for work. Is United better than Delta now? Ultimately my answer is no but it’s close which should make Delta worried. United’s strengths over Delta are customer service and cabin comfort. When dealing with cancellations United’s customer service from airline employees on the ground and their app is really second to none and better than what I experienced from Delta with a cancellation. Also, United’s new Max and 321 neos are the most comfortable domestic cabins in the Big 3 right now. On the downside, I have my two biggest issues, one of which will always keep them behind Delta. First issue is lack of consistency. When I get off a 9 month old Max 9 with towering ceilings and clean spacious seats then connect into an old Continental NG with cramped seats, and dark, dingy cabins it’s like you’re flying two different airlines and the experience isn’t remotely comparable. The other issue is deltas hubs are just better than United’s. Delta JFK will always be superior to UA at Newark. ATL is infinitely more enjoyable than ORD and much less frustrating. United’s ace is DEN which is easy and being revamped with nice new terminals but it’s a bit further west. United has no southeast hub which AA and DL leverage to great success. CLT, MIA, DFW, and ATL are crucial to connect a huge majority of the country conveniently. IAD is awful and doesn’t cut it. ORD is awful as well. I’d like to see massive changes to ORD (both terminal and airport layout re taxi times) and UA open a SE US hub if they’re really going to be top dog. But bravo to United for trying to compete. I’ve definitely noticed the improvement. Whereas American doesn’t even care
The only thing going for American is they have by far the most valuable mileage points of the three. I wish my skypesos had 80k pts business class tickets to Japan from the US (they do from Europe but pls don’t tell anyone).
I'm never flying American, I flew on their first class cabin for a long trip and was very disappointed; seats were bottomed out, the wall panels had stains all over, it smell bad and the whole area was just really dirty, oh and the arms rest were really sticky, I remember I had to use a sanitary wipe that I happen to had with me to clean the arms rest. The food was the worst I ever had on a flight. The meals I received on the flight during my deployments to Iraq were leagues ahead of American's "first class". I felt embarrassed just thinking about their crappy planes and their sub-pair services being offered in other countries.
i miss American Airlines being the undoubtful top leader, not sure what happened or where the beginning of the decline was. Seems very hard to get back to top with united and delta obviously playing the right cards on hubs, network, technologiy, service, pricing, training, equipment. Sad thing is, delta and united both learned from crandall's blueprint, now superseed the master.

@@who2u333 Bob Six and Gordon Bethune at Continental, as well as Herb Kelleher at Southwest, all agreed that if the employees are taken care of, then customers are taken care of. Sort of a pickle, this business is in.
@@stephancox9105oh i miss Continental. And how could you provide better service if you are paid more? It’s the people that make the service, you get better people with better pay, but there’s no direct correlation of service to pay.

It makes me proud to see how well Delta is doing and keeps improving.
United has all the momentum in the industry right now. Excited to see where they go in the future

Companies exist to extract profit for shareholders
I hope people bring up the horrible incident from 2017 where they showed terrible customer service by beating and forcibly dragging a doctor off a flight.
Delta is definitely better. That being said, at least United isn't American!
Delta>United>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>American

No one cares, go sit down in your economy seat
American is horrible.
And compared to Asian and European carriers, Delta is definitely a no go.

I expect an airline to give me a good experience on the flight. I don't give a damn about their app when the whole airline is putrid.
LOL, no. American is better
I stopped flying with United Airlines many years ago due to the rudeness of the cabin attendants and lack of customer service. Thanks to United, I became a loyal Delta Airlines customer.
When they started beating passengers and carrying them off the plane
Airlines are not in business to make money off of travel. They make the big profit from their frequent flyer programs and without them they would be losing money. In 2023 Delta got $6.8 billion just from Amex. A/A $5.2 billion from partners and UAL $3.2 billion. Programs run about a 50% profit margin.
They are hedge funds that just happen to have a fleet of airplanes.

The problem with Air Canada is Toronto (YYZ) can be an absolutely miserable airport to fly through. It’s best avoided and worse than any United hub.
@@CJ.1998X.Y.Z I agree with this comparison of Air Canada and Delta.
Best mileage program no doubt

United has Airbus aircraft.

Non-union employees are part of the reason too. Delta's employees are non-union therefore they can better serve the customer, compared to United or American which both have unionized employees (e.g. unionized flight attendants) who will always favor their union first.

Continental was a better airline - prices are ridiculous. Good luck winning customers back
People who only travel only once per year are the ones always complaining.
Delta is ofc number 1 for me for a variety of reasons which i won't get into cause i don't wanna bore you by rambling on too much but ofc I do have a wealth of experience on other carriers as well such as United and JetBlue and I know whether it is with those 3 or anything else, the issues that may arise typically aren't on them and mostly things that are not in their control such as weather, software issues, etc and yes TSA and security we have all had mixed opinions and experiences on it.
I fly for work for a fortune 100 company. We are "forced" to use the least expensive option through our travel agency. United is rarely an option that I am allowed.
Sounds like they're just trying to save money, like any fortune 100 company would. Pray that you are far too useful to be replaced by an immigrant or a robot that can do more of your job for less money. I love Corporate America!
Do you have to fly economy or basic economy, or are you allowed to fly premium? If the latter, that's fine I guess... but if you're stuck with Spirit, I'm sorry :(
@@darkwoodmovies Regular economy. Usually, American is the least expensive. The budget airlines are also seldom recommended by our on-line agent software. I guess it's mostly Delta and American. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. I hate them all! Ha!
@@SueBobChicVidDelta's economy seats at least have more legroom than American. If I worked at a company that made me regularly travel on American I would find a new job ASAP.
As a former investor in both United and Delta I can say I was able to get a solid return from both. However, Delta remains my primary for swing opportunities. This was a great, insightful video. Thank you, CNBC!
No stock buybacks.
Flying experience with Delta is always much better than UA. UA is definitely always the airline to avoid, if possible. I would rather take Southwest than UA.
Wait, so UA is not competing with Spirit?
Spirit is a ULCC.
LMAO
United didn't allow me to register due to not having a US phone number. It didn't recognise any Dutch province upon registration. Kinda ridiculous for a 2024 service.
United didn't lay off pilots after covid. But they took away the mechanics pension fund
We reservationists at United had our pensions gutted AND our jobs sent off to Bangalore.
I genuinely miss Continental
technically it never left. Ofc the name did but the identity did not
... And here I am still playing "United Breaks Guitars." 😊
Denver’s airport (total land , not just the current terminals and runways) is BIGGER than the Island of Manhattan. There is LOTS of room to grow.
Untied will never catch up. In between dragging customers through the floor, tires blowing up, and door exploding mid flight, you can’t pay me enough to use them.
I just left a comment about how they drug that doctor off the flight years ago! He lost his teeth. Disgusting
And you assume Delta don't have those problems? They do
@@henrylopez3479 I’m assuming you’re talking about Dr.Dao’s incident with floor dragging. Airport police did that. United called airport police when he refused to get off the flight when told to do so. All airlines still force overbooked people off. Even delta.
You forgot the worst sin of them all... NEWARK!
United can catch up easy. It’s got the most new planes
What you experienced is named code sharing.
4 digit flight codes with an 8 or 9 in front is a code share flight - and if you click on details you will see the original flight number (in your case an UA.....) and/or "Flight operated by United Airlines".
This is pretty irrelevant now because of transferrable AMEX and Chase points. United almost never offers the best award redemption rate for international flights
I recall there was a very serious incident where a poor guy got drag off the plane. That was as bad as it goes for company PR reputation. Did United ever took proactive action to attract travellers back? If not why people still fly with United ?
Because more details emerged. It was a regional flight contacted by United but not actually a United flight. The "victim" was an ass hat that being overly ridiculous and happened to be a disgraced doctor who had his license taken away
@@quietus13 wow ok thanks for your reply and info. Good to know ! I am always interested in how a company with a damaged reputation can recover. It is a very difficult process and if any can managed, then it’s really an amazing story to learn.
@@quietus13 You sound ridiculous! Allow me to debunk you...
The regional carrier was still representing United, the flight was marketed as a United flight, and as a result it all reflected poorly on United. Farming out to the regionals while having them operate under an Express/Connection/Eagle banner is a double-edged sword; while it may appear seamless to John Q. Air Traveler, it's the mainline that takes the heat in the public eye when the regional messes up. (It didn't help that CEO Munoz sent an email to those Republic agents and crew, congratulating them as if they were his own.)
Not only was this sloppy journalism dressed as an attempt to justify the actions of United and the Chicago Department of Aviation to the public, it was otherwise irrelevant to the main fact that an airline signed off on police brutality over a seating issue.
Go be an airline corporate bootlicker somewhere else.
@@quietus13 The regional flight was still repping United and repped United poorly. Being an "overly ridiculous asshat" does not justify police brutality. Whether he was a "disgraced doctor" who "had his license taken away" was actually true, it was not relevant to the situation and was either sloppy journalism or a cope cooked up by United's marketing department. Bootlick harder.
I'm from brazil, they have to building one fo the most maintenance technnique center for owners aircrafts, SP - RJ. It´s so incrible just because it will raise more jobs and opportunity!
the fact that a organization can make Billions in profit, but then "need" a bailout is wild
It 🎶United Break Guitar🎵
I like Delta, but they tend to be 3/4x the cost of United so United is usually my go to.
But United breaks guitars….!
United breaks guitars and people
They don’t compete with each other, they collude.
"United Breaks Guitars" 🎶🎶🎵
I've noticed that United flies more nonestops than Deltas, at least for my routes. Their service has definitely improved and you can see that in their interactions in-cabin. They've closed the gap dramatically but this has also come at Delta's expense who's losing a ton of loyal customers due to their rewards program changes
United breaks guitar
Flying domestically, I almost always find that United is more expensive. American, Southwest, Delta are almost always dollar-for-dollar the same price to most regional destinations, and the United will sell me a base economy fare that doesn't include a carry-on for 10x more.
They are notorious with bumping for passenger.....lol😢
United Breaks Guitar 🎶
United basic economy w/o bags is BY FAR the worst in the industry. Forcing to get a boarding pass in person is ridiculous!
The miles programs are where the money is at for these airlines
As a Northeast resident, until they fix traffic and weather closures, that affect no other airports, at Newark I'm avoiding United like the plague, because Newark SUCKS.
Newark new terminal A is awesome
Oh i dread Newark, unfortunately one of the easiest to reach, tied with BWI.
I travel through Newark 10x per year and never had an issue. Takes me less than 10 min to go through TSA
Hey don’t bash where I live. Newark doesn’t even have an airport.
The closest airport is an Avelo/American hub. They don’t even have a United flight.😂
Newark is definitely a weak link in the United hub structure
Hell wish we could say the same for American!
The connection experience at UA's Denver hub has become a crowded mess.
Try Newark, weather related closures, while JFK and LaGuardia running just fine.
its def the best connection if you're going to and from aspen i know cause my family and i have been going there for decades like since the 1980s
Oh and United’s food is dreadful
The only thing going for American is they have by far the most valuable mileage points of the three. I wish my skypesos had 80k pts business class tickets to Japan from the US (they do from Europe but pls don’t tell anyone).
The best way to get cheap business class tickets between Japan and the US is to convert AMEX points and book a flight on ANA
Remember when United called the cops on that Asian Doctor and they beat him unconscious and him dragged out of his seat? Pepperidge Farm remembers
United Airlines MMA record is 100-0 United Airlines Customers
i miss American Airlines being the undoubtful top leader, not sure what happened or where the beginning of the decline was. Seems very hard to get back to top with united and delta obviously playing the right cards on hubs, network, technologiy, service, pricing, training, equipment. Sad thing is, delta and united both learned from crandall's blueprint, now superseed the master.
