- G’day everyone, I hope you’re all well. In this video we’re heading to Andamooka for a quick scratch, as we’re still making room to mine the level, there’s still a bit of excavating to be done and a lot of dirt to move. Nothing to show in the way of colour in this video, just some of the effort put into working an opal claim. I hope you enjoy, thanks for your time. 🤪👍

Thank you Phil, you're amazing as usual and I wish you the best of luck finding color and some opal! 👋💎👍
Thanks for bringing folks along with you on these trips. I'm sure it's more work than fun for you but your videos are always fun for me. Thanks again and keep them coming
No one quite understands how much goes on before they see the pretty end result online, in a show or store.
The wildlife appreciates you, letting them know which way you're going.
Another wonderful trip to the mining field. I always do enjoy the trips. It still amazes me how you navigate all of those roads. Then to do it in the dark. That's insane.
Great trip. Thanks for letting us ride along. Can't wait to see what you found.
I really enjoyed the trip and meeting the little lizard folk. I was mistaking them for opal when you had your u.v. torch on them.
Enjoyed watching your behind the scenes video.
A real adventure!
I swear Phil, if I wasn’t married and didn’t have the responsibilities I have, I’d move to Australia and open a mine if they’d let me. I am super jealous (in a good way) and super happy you have that opportunity my friend. Can’t wait till you hit that million dollar pocket !
Hahahaha exactly what I was guna say. We just don't have the good stuff in nz
yeah, should have married a rockhound!
I’m lucky to be near enough to an opal field, I’m not even sure if they notice, at home, when I go on a trip. 🤪👍
i like the blacklight shots. helps to follow along in the video with what you're looking at.
✌️🐝➕
Thanks for taking me on a adventure. Wish you best of luck.
Good times right there!
I enjoyed that. Being from the states, I’d like to see more behind the scenes type stuff to see what goes into finding opals.
Colour or no colour always a great and interesting watch Phil 🫡
seeing the process that leads to the gems is essential, I think. Many don't realize how much effort is required and how rare finding the great rough truly is.
Looking good.
Great prep work Phil, let’s hope you get back there before someone else takes advantage of that work…..
Gday Phil , Great Video , looking forward to seeing your progression to the Motherload
Really appreciate your time and effort to show what goes on in this 'field' of 'industry'. Fantastic footage and information 🤠🙃😉 A very interesting topic for many people to learn from to their surprise, and a great eye opener.😊😊 The wildlife is great to see too.
Good luck on the mining side. Persistence is key, I guess. Be safe and well, Phil, and your friend too.
Fantastic video. Love the commentary and the wildlife! Geckos are the coolest/cutest, and the young one was great to see! 🦎 He was a bit curious and not too skittish. I also liked how the (I assume) male emu stood between the rest of the mob and the car. "Watchoo lookin at?" 😂 Looks like the claim coming along nicely. Sorry to see no colour come out this trip but to my untrained eye it looks promising with plenty of dirt left to dig. Hmmmm, I guess that's good. 🤔😆 Seriously, looks like it is coming along well. Looking forward to the colour when it comes. Thank you for bringing us along, it's a real privilege. Thanks to Mr Wuttke too for his contribution too, not the least the Wuttke Wheel which I am loving, btw. i kinda got sidetracked with stones other than opal, but i'm slowly getting back on track. 😁 Onwards and downwards!! 💪⚒👷♂
🤪👍
Thankyou most informative you work very hard keep up the good work hope you hit the big one soon cheers mate😊
Nice operation!
hopefully get into the colour next trip out mate
WELL HELLO MATE. BEEN A WHILE MATE. NICE VID AS ALWAYS MATE.
🤪👍
Nice. I live in SA & haven’t been to Andamooka before. I’ll definitely have to check it out. Do people go noodling in Andamooka ?
I believe they do. Matrix opal is pretty cool. I am too afraid to use the acids necessary to treat it, though.
G’day mate, yes, to explain, noodling is when you’re just scouring the surface or picking through tailings anywhere but on someone’s claim, then there’s prospecting meaning you can dig with hand tools above or below the surface but not on someone’s, then there’s mining meaning you can use machinery on a registered claim. 🤪👍
Gecko: NO PAPPARAZZI
🤣👍
Gday Phill
G’day mate. 🤪👍
Great info, what are the rocks / boulders made up of?
G’day mate, the rocks and boulders we find are a variety, from limestone to sandstone, claystone, quartzite, fossilised sea floor, for the most part. 🤪👍
@@theopalmills does the sea floor have fossils or just black? The reason I ask is I cut cabochons and always looking for new interesting material to cut.
@@davidhastings7714 yes, there are fossils from plesiosaur to belemnite and shell.
What size excavator have you got there?
G’day mate, it’s a 1.8 ton excavator. 🤪👍
@@theopalmills yep thought so. What do you think of it? Does it get the job done alright? I'm considering one around the same size.
@@Halupka5 it’s perfect for picking through the ground with the ripper attachment, in combination with the Kanga to clear the dirt. 🤪👍
hell half of the video was drivin'??? then a lizard? then you walked around explaining nothing???? go and drink beer if that's what you want to do/ you don't owe us nothing maybe like a view of some opals???
